Hunger pulled at her like fishing wire latched to her belly button. Terri felt the tug of it, the constancy, urgency. Tuesday. She had not fed since last week. The counseling center was closed for the holiday and too many people had canceled their therapy appointments because of it. She could go longer if she needed to. That had its own list of problems; she would be forced to take on more than she wanted. That happened whenever she starved. Resigned, she got dressed and ready for the hunt. She pulled on a sweater—not appropriate for the weather, but it conveyed warmth. Comfort. Better to attract her next meal.
