Oskar arranged his bag and almost fell into the cabin. He waved to the Major, intent on the starting manoeuvre. The cabin started with a sharp clanging and immediately acquired speed. The cableway moved for a few minutes in absolute darkness, and then emerged from underground to run along a deep trench dug in the snow.
