**LORRY SPRINGSTONE / KELLY THOMPSON’S POINT OF VIEW** “Tina, who is this? What the hell is she doing here?” Jason demands with authority, casting aside all courtesy. I’m stunned (Tina, unfazed, must be used to his harsh ways) for two reasons. First, the king hasn’t changed—he’s as rude as ever. Second, even he doesn’t recognize me. After a moment’s thought, I realize it’s my transformed appearance. Yes, I’m now slim, athletic, and, you might say, strikingly attractive. This thought delights me, and I decide to use it to my advantage. It’s time for those who wronged me to pay for their cruelty. A sly smile curls my lips as I glare vengefully at the arrogant, condescending Alpha King Jason Bentley standing before me. “You’re first on my list, you little fool,” I whisper to myself, anticipating what’s to come. “Forgive me, Your Majesty, but this is Dr. Lorry Springstone, whom you requested to treat the young heir. She’s made a long, exhausting journey to join us and has already begun examining the prince’s health,” interjects Tina, the head housekeeper. Jason is thrown off by Tina’s words. He quickly composes himself, clears his throat, and offers a sincere apology. “My apologies, Dr. Lorry Springstone. It’s just that none of these incompetents informed me of your arrival at the palace. Indeed, I sent one of my messengers to Liverpool to invite you here for the sake of my poor son, who’s been inexplicably ill for some time. No doctor in the kingdom has found a cure. In my desperation, a dear friend told me of you and your remarkable medical achievements. Now that you’re finally here, what can I say but thank you for accepting the offer so quickly?” my ex-husband Jason says in a calm, unusually polite tone, unlike anything I’ve known from him. As you can imagine, I’m utterly shocked by this royal side of him, struggling to believe it’s really him speaking with such humility and gentleness. Moreover, I realize he seems completely unaware of the brutal, improper way his messenger, Delta Tom Braxton, and his accomplices brought me back to the Southern clan. But given the critical condition of young Prince Eddy—or Eden, perhaps—I feel a mysterious connection to him and choose to overlook my k********g. Sometimes, the Moon Goddess works in strange ways, I tell myself to stay grounded. So, I assure the Alpha King of my commitment to do everything I can to heal the young heir. At that moment, the sick prince, hearing his father’s commanding voice, seems to perk up slightly. His small face turns toward the Alpha King, a mix of hope and fear in his eyes. His frail fingers clutch my hand, seeking comfort. “Thank you, Dr. Springstone,” Jason says, his voice trembling with emotion. “Your words comfort me more than you can imagine. My son… is everything to me.” Watching him gently stroke the child’s hair, I’m struck by the stark contrast to the cold, distant father I once knew. It’s as if I’ve stepped into a parallel reality. “Papa,” the child whispers, his voice barely audible, before adding, “Is this the lady you talked about, the one from far away who’ll make me feel better?” Hearing the child call my ex-husband “Papa” while he still hasn’t recognized me—stirring nerves within—leaves me speechless for a moment. I knew he was the Alpha King’s son, but hearing it from this boy’s lips feels unreal. My heart aches as I look at this fragile child, trying to connect him to the sturdy Eden I left behind six years ago. “Could this truly be my son?” I wonder silently. Alpha King Jason kneels beside the bed, meeting the child’s eyes, and answers his question: “Yes, my brave little warrior. This is Dr. Lorry Springstone, all the way from Liverpool, England. She’s very smart and kind. She… will do everything she can to help you feel better. Don’t worry!”
