17 SETTLING INEarly the next morning, Shell came into Lek and Craig’s bedroom closely followed by Soom, both in their nightdresses. Soom looked tired, but Shell was as full of life as she always was in the mornings. “How did you sleep, first time in your own room together?” “It took a long time for Shell to get off, but I don’t think I ever did properly. I didn’t like it, it was strange and lonely. I prefer us all to sleep together on the floor”. “It will take some getting used to, I dare say”, said Craig. “I didn’t sleep all that well, and I don’t think you did either, did you, Lek?” “No, not really, but they say that about strange beds and strange houses, don’t they?” Soom lifted Shell up onto the bed and then sat down on it herself. “So, what are we going to do today?” she asked.
