The four stared at the tied man as if they were angry gangsters who were scheming ways to ensure he revealed all they needed to know.
Well, Amir was more of the angry gangster.
Sebastian was just getting ready to pour another bucket of water while Chloe and Nathaniel stood still and waited, Chloe making sure to maintain a distance from him.
Without delay, Sebastian woke the man up with another splash of water, bigger than the last one, it had the man dripping like he had just been dumped into the ocean.
"Mr. Tate? Time to wake up," Sebastian said.
Chloe scrunched her nose at the culprit's name.
Tate.
"You!” Mr. Tate, who had been struggling to keep his eyes open, almost flew back when he saw Amir and Chloe.
Sebastian shifted closer. "I see you recognise some faces."
"I… I’m not going to say anything," the man warned.
"Good. You know we want something from you.”
"My lips are f*****g sealed,” proclaimed Mr. Tate, his confidence making Nathaniel chuckle.
Chloe glanced at Nathaniel and wondered if he was planning to get fully involved in the matter.
“Tate…” Sebastian slapped the man’s left shoulder. “My man…”
He slapped the other shoulder and a wince dropped from the man. “There are two ways to do this. The easy and the hard. You seem like you have some guts, so the easy option would be insulting to you.”
Wickedly, Sebastian massaged the man’s shoulders. “Luckily, we are halfway through the hard option. You’re fully wet. All that’s left are some naked, current-filled wire.”
Chloe felt a little shiver zap through her.
After stealing a glance at Amir, who carried a hard expression and Nathaniel who had a blank face, she wondered if she was finally about to witness the deadly side of the NAG brothers.
“However… Fortunately for you, we just happen to be a little bit too friendly.” Chloe felt a little relief after that. “That’s why we are letting you go.”
"Wait. What?" Amir asked and Chloe’s shock agreed with his. “Why? We need to squeeze info out of him.”
Nathaniel stopped Amir from charging at Sebastian. "Amir... calm down."
"Don't freaking tell me to calm down! We should be getting something out of this blockhead not releasing him to do more s**t!"
Nathaniel nodded in agreement, still holding back Amir who was glaring at Tate like a hungry tiger watching its dinner.
Chloe just stood and watched.
"Off you go." Even Tate was surprised that he was being released.
After slipping into the water on the floor, he took another uncertain look at Sebastian who motioned for him to leave.
"What the hell?" Amir forced himself out of Nathaniel's grip when the culprit was out of the room.
"Amir... this might look crazy, but there's a plan here,” Sebastian explained.
"Plan? What f*****g plan requires you letting go of the fool that’s destroying lives?" Amir demanded.
"Well…" Sebastian stole a look at Nathaniel before continuing. "Earlier this week, Nathaniel and I devised a plan to plant a tracker in Tate after capturing him. While he was unconscious, we inserted a nano tracker and let him go without hassle, just as we planned.”
Amir was now a little calm. “Don’t you think the person he is working for will search him?”
“Technology is on fire these days, Amir. The trackers are totally undetectable.”
"There is more than one?"
"I planted two. One to trace his movements and the other to record conversations."
"Wow." Amir’s head danced in awe of the plan. Then, a thought seemed to drop into his head, he hissed and asked, "How come I didn't notice you inserting them?"
Sebastian chuckled. "Amir, you were too angry to notice anything."
"Of course I was angry,” he pouted. “Who wouldn't be?"
Nathaniel reached for his friend's arm. "You can rest easy now, Amir. We’ll finally find out who’s behind all this.”
"We?" Amir shrugged the man’s hand away.. "If my memory doesn't fail me, you were ready to throw me in jail.”
"No, I wasn't," Nathaniel retorted, gaining a sneer from Amir, who was approaching Chloe.
"All my thanks goes to Chloe. I won't forget all you’ve done. Especially what you did today."
Chloe nodded. "You are welcome."
Amir returned her smile. "What now?" he turned to ask Sebastian.
"We wait."
"I guess we will do just that. But first, I need to sleep, tonight has been crazy enough."
Chloe could not agree more, and without waiting for anybody, she approached the entrance.
"Where are you going ?" Nathaniel asked.
"Where do you think?" Amir returned before Chloe could give a response. Without haste, he rushed towards her, grabbed her by the hand and said, "Chloe, let's go. Your bed is calling you."
The tiredness in her popped out a little more and she said, "My body is crying for my bed."
"More reason why we should get home soon." And nothing more was said.

Like zombies, Chloe and Amir got out of the van.
For some reason, the ride had tired them even more.
They did not even hear Sebastian drive off or Nathaniel's footsteps as he followed them.
All that was on their mind was sleep.
Almost like automated beings, they both made their way upstairs.
But Chloe was immediately pulled back with a gentle tug by Nathaniel.
"Nathaniel?" her voice asked lazily.
Within two eye blinks, his hands had cupped her cheeks and his lips found hers. Unlike the one at the club, he dragged this particular kiss with care, making sure she felt and tasted him in every inch of her lips.
Chloe, who rested her hand on his which was against her cheeks, discovered she didn’t know what to do. So, she did not kiss him back. But then, she did not resist.
When he finally pulled back, his eyes looked into hers deeply and he drew her close to his chest with a single pull.
A smirk covered his lips as he watched her stare at him cluelessly. His long fingers came up and traced the side of her face. "Goodnight Chloe," he gently said to her.
She smiled like a baby. A sleepy baby. "Goodnight."
Then she found her way upstairs where numerous calls had come in from the Agency. She ignored them and dived into a blissful sleep.
And that night, she dreamt a lot about Nathaniel.
