"You... are going back to work?"
Nathan didn't answer her question. He walked into the room and murmured, "I forgot something."
"No way. You are going back? For real? You're so dedicated to your job as a white-collar worker."
Nathan turned around, glanced at her, and smiled, "I'm not going back. You are going out with me."
"Where?"
"You'll know soon. Get changed. I'll take you out,"
Nathan finished his words and walked out with his phone. Sharon couldn't imagine how busy a white-collar worker could be.
Sharon walked into the bathroom with her bathrobe. She needed to dress up since they were going out for dinner. When she was Sharon Evans, she was offered everything the best. She didn't need heavy makeup, and the lightest one could show her beauty. The pretty face was a gift from heaven.
Her old clothes were left in the Evans family, and they might have been dumped, but it didn't matter to her. She picked out one knitted jacket and jeans and pinned her hair up with a diamond clip.
"Glenn, I need you to do something for me."
"Mr. Harris, please..."
Glenn Hughes was Nathan's secretary, also his friend. Nathan never employed a female secretary. With Glenn dealing with kinds of stuff, he felt at ease.
"Emm... I won't lock the door..."
"No problem, Mr. Harris."
Nathan smiled and entered the room with the phone in his hand.
"Pretty good. Not fancy clothes, but a fancy girl."
He fixed his eyes on Sharon, and Sharon found it embarrassing. No man had ever stared at her nor commented on her that directly.
"So you know apparel design?"
"Not much."
Sharon glanced at him and saw the Rolls-Royce parked outside, "Maybe you should give the car back to your boss. It just belongs to someone else."
Nathan looked at her with a twinkle in his eyes. She felt uncomfortable and avoided his eyes.
"I thought girls loved luxury cars, and a rental luxury car was always better than a low-end car. You are... interesting."
Sharon glanced at him with a provocative smile and said, "Seems a lot of girls love your luxury car. Pity. It is a rental one."
Nathan didn't answer, but he thought the girl was cute sure enough.
"Where are we going?"
"You'll know soon."
Nathan drove the car, and Sharon thought in her mind, "I don't know where we are going, but I'm expecting. He should be bringing me to meet his friends. I can see what kind of friends he made. Just please, don't be bad friends."
"Here we are."
"Ginder Manor?"
Ginder Manor was a classy place. A cup of plain water was worth a lot there. People came there to enjoy the service and also distinguish themselves.
"We are having dinner here?"
There was a shock in Sharon's eyes and probe in her tone. She wondered if they got the wrong way, but the Rolls-Royce blended in with the manor.
"Yeah, hurry up. He should be waiting."
"Now it makes sense. His friend is treating us a dinner. There was news about Ginder Manor days ago. Someone bought this place. Who can that be?" Sharon admired the layout and wondered.
"Hey, you've been waiting?"
"Yeah, quite a while."
Ansel stood up and saw Sharon beside Nathan, "And this is?" He looked at Sharon up and down and thought she was such a pretty creature.
"My wife,"
Nathan said and then invited Sharon into her seat.
"Your friend? Hi, I'm Sharon Harris."
Ansel didn't expect she would greet him first. He smiled and said, "Hi, Ansel Kerr."
"My dear friend, when did you get married? How could it be possible that I hear nothing about it? Good for you. She's gorgeous,"
he said and poked Nathan with his finger.
"You are so busy, man."
"Okay, now you're being sarcastic."
Sharon felt Ansel was familiar. And when she heard the name "Ansel Kerr," she realized who he was,
"Oh, so you are the film star, right? I didn't expect to meet you."
"Mrs. Harris, it's my pleasure to meet you."
He sure was a film star. Every one of his movements was decent. Sharon thought about a saying, "Life is a play."
She was not accustomed to being called Mrs. Harris. Sharon nodded and sipped lemonade.
"Aha, got ya! You are having dinner here without me? How unkind you are!"
A girl walked to their table. Nathan and Ansel smiled. Apparently, they knew each other.
Sharon looked at the girl. She was a nifty girl.
"And this is?"
The girl was surprised by Sharon, by her beauty. She couldn't take her eyes off Sharon.
Ansel tapped on the table and said strangely, "Are you serious? You don't know each other?" He then looked at Nathan.
Nathan glanced at the girl and said, "Rae, this is my wife."
Hearing what he said, Rae froze for a moment and then smiled, "Your wife?" She looked at Nathan and said, "Lucky guy. She is quite pretty... Do your parents know about it? I guess the answer is no."
Nathan turned serious and looked at her, "Let sleeping dogs lie."
Sharon felt embarrassed. Nathan's parents knew nothing about their marriage, and it seemed Nathan didn't want them to know. However, she felt relieved after recalling her purpose in getting married.
Her unpleasantness only lasted a split second, but Nathan noticed it anyway.
