The not-so-bright lamplight felt like it was piercing Xavier's eyes. He began to open his eyes slowly. At first it did look blurred, it took a few seconds until Xavier could open his eyes perfectly and realized that he did not recognize the room he was currently in. Xavier blinked repeatedly to make sure that he was still in the world and not in the afterlife. And then, he heard the sound of a door opening and the screech of a woman who didn't seem to realize that he had woken up from unconsciousness. "Doctor, look, he's awake!" Xavier could only hear the voice of a girl who sounded so cheerful, sounding happy. He still didn't have much energy to sit up by himself, he could only wait until someone unfamiliar appeared in front of him. Until soon, a girl came from the left along with the Doctor carrying a black bag. Xavier could guess the contents. There had to be medicine and tools to check the patient. "Hurry up Doctor, check him out!" Said the girl, impatiently. Beautiful, Xavier muttered to himself. Is she the one who saved me? Is this her house? How long have I been here? There were so many questions Xavier wanted to ask, but it seemed he would remain silent until the doctor finished check-up on him. The doctor sat on the edge of the bed, then he checked Xavier's pulse, after which he started checking his heart rate with a stethoscope and other checks ensued. The doctor removed the breathing apparatus covering Xavier's nose and mouth. "Can you breathe normally?" Xavier took a deep breath, then let it out slowly. Just so you know, Xavier didn't take his eyes off the girl standing behind the doctor as he waited anxiously. "How is it? Does your chest hurt?" Asked the Doctor. Xavier shook his head. "I'm fine." "Wow! He can talk!" The doctor looked exasperatedly at the girl, "Of course he can talk, you're just being silly." After silencing her, the Doctor refocused on Xavier. "Anne, it looks like your patient doesn't need a respirator anymore. But, for the IVs, it would be better to keep it in place until it runs out." The doctor said. Anne. Xavier finally knew the girl's name. "The medicine?" "Don't worry, all the necessary medicines are available, so you don't need to go out to buy them. This strong man just needs a rest period for the next few days and even though he looks fine, you should still take him to the big hospital. Maybe after the storm ends." The doctor explained. Anne nodded in understanding, "Okay, I understand." "Here, the medicine. Everything is to be taken after 3 meals. The vitamins should also be taken so that his energy recovers quickly. He might be a little dazed from the shock, so be patient and careful when treating him." Doctor's advice. Anne nodded again. Xavier could see the worried look in her eyes. "When the storm over, hurry to the hospital in the city." The doctor added. "Alright, is that all?" The doctor nodded while packing his tools into a typical doctor's bag. "I have to go see another patient. If that's the case, please excuse me. Anne and Sir... Get well soon." Anne threw Xavier a smile before heading out to led the Doctor off. Being a Doctor apparently requires strong dedication, even rainstorms are ignored in order to help the sick people out there. Not long after Anne returned, Xavier who was drifting in reverie came to his senses. Xavier tried to get up from lying down as Anne sat on the edge of the bed, but whatever, his strength was lost somewhere. "It's okay, just lie down." Anne said understandingly. Xavier could only sigh in frustration. He hated being weak like this. Xavier had never even shown his weak side to the ex-girlfriend who had dumped him. Anne frowned, "Are you okay? Do you want a drink, Vi?" "Ah... You already know my name." "Of course I know, I was the one who pulled you from the river. I thought you were dead, but after 3 days of unconsciousness, you finally woke up too." Anne said. "3 days- what?! 3 days?" Xavier's eyes bulged with surprise. How was the heir inauguration?! Xavier tried to get off the bed, but it was useless because he didn't have enough strength to support his own body. Anne was surprised to see Xavier who was suddenly aggressive like just now. "Hey, calm down... Let me help you to sit back," Anne said as she held Xavier's weight by grabbing him, honestly, Xavier was too heavy to be held using one hand. Anne piled some pillows behind him, and then she helped Xavier lean against them. Xavier looked frustrated, he squeezed his hair hard. Anne was worried again and again. "Stop it." Anne emphasized as she took both of Xavier's hands, "Don't be like this. Calm down and tell me or ask me something, maybe I can help." Xavier fell silent as Anne cupped his face and stared intently. Slowly Xavier began to regain his composure. "Hold on a second," Anne pulled out a drawer on the nightstand, "This is your wallet Mr. Xavier Daguise." She handed the wallet to its owner. Xavier frowned in confusion, "How can I be unconscious for 3 days and be treated here, by you." Anne became confused, who else would take care of him? Anne thought. "Didn't anyone look for me? I disappeared on an important day, there's no way they didn't look for me. And... The car, yeah... Did people find my car?" Xavier asked curiously. "Car? What car? I don't see any car." "What?! How come?! I fell off the bridge after hitting the barrier wall." Anne's eyes widened, "There are no bridges here, maybe you fell off the bridge quite far from here. You know that the Water of Leith is a long river, it overflowed during a rainstorm, my God... It's a Good thing that I found you," "Can I borrow your cell phone?" Anne nodded as she pulled out her cell phone from her pants pocket, "Here," Xavier immediately opened the search website and typed in some keywords. 'Bridge accident' Not found. 'DG Group heirs accident' Xavier frowned in surprise that no news had appeared about his accident. 'Inauguration of heirs of DG Group Company' Ting! Xavier refused to believe what he was currently seeing. "The heir's inauguration will be postponed to the next few days because the heir is out of the country." Xavier said reading the news headlines on the internet. What nonsense is this? They didn't even look for me. 3 days have passed but no one has reached this village to look for me? Seriously? "Can I ask you a favor?" Xavier asked. Anne nodded. "Can you please find out where my car is on the bridge either Fort road or aahk! My head hurts. I don't know Edinburgh very well, so... So I don't know the names of the places. I only came because of... work! Awsh... My head..." "Okay-okay... now calm down. Your head might hurt more if you think too hard. After the storm over, I'll go out or ask the people around to find out about the accident on one of the bridges around here. Okay? You have to trust me, so please rest. This is for your best." Anne said. Xavier patted Anne's hand who had been so kind to him, "Thank you very much... I promise to repay all your kindness." "Take it easy. Actually, I don't live here either, I'm from London and i'm here to writing a fictional book about the city of 'Brigadoon'. A town that is said to only appear once every 100 years, so I came here to explore the atmosphere. The castles here are also very beautiful." Anne said. Xavier listened silently. "That night I couldn't think, my imagination wasn't working. So I decided to play in the rain outside, I didn't realize I had walked so far until I reached the river. That's when I found you- ah... I talked too much, didn't I? Sorry..." She regretted. Xavier shook his head, "Can you tell me about finding me and everything that happened while I was unconscious?" Anne nodded, "It would be my pleasure." Anne began to tell him everything, about her difficulty in carrying Xavier's body and her difficulty in finding the Doctor in the midst of a terrifying storm. The more he listened, the more grateful Xavier felt for being saved. *** Xavier sat leaning back while looking at Anne, who was busy typing on the laptop. Occasionally Xavier saw her forehead wrinkled, which meant she was struggling with her own set of words. The sound of thunder along with the rumbling wind could still be heard, the raindrops hit the roof aggressively. Xavier had hated the rain since he was a kid. He even wondered why Anne could like the rain when it would be easier to think if things were quiet, not noisy like now. Kriing... Kriing... The alarm rang. "It's time to take your medicine, but, before that... you should eat." Anne said, getting up from the wooden chair she had been sitting on for hours. Anne walked to another room and returned with a bowl of soup as well as a small bowl of rice. "Earlier you refused to eat and only wanted bread. This time I won't let you eat bread. You have to eat rice." Anne said as she placed the two bowls on the nightstand. Xavier swallowed hard, his eyes looking worried as Anne began to spoon out the rice. "No." Xavier looked away as Anne was about to feed him. Anne snorted in annoyance, "You have to eat so you can take your medicine." "I... I can't. I'll just eat bread or- or help me up, I'll cook myself." Xavier said. Anne shook her head, "Open your mouth and eat this." Anne kept trying to get Xavier to open his mouth. "PLEASE I CAN'T!" Xavier snapped, accidentally knocking the spoon that Anne was holding onto the floor. Anne looked surprised. As for Xavier, he looked busy catching his breath and throwing away all the scary images of little Xavier being forced to eat, then a few hours later he was rushed to the hospital due to food poisoning. Xavier had lost his faith. He never even ate the food his ex-girlfriend made for him during their time together because he was afraid. Xavier would rather eat instant food from outside than have someone make it for him. "Sorry... I'm sorry." Xavier regretted. Anne looked sad, so she bent down and picked up the dropped spoon. After that, Anne went to get a rag without saying anything.
