Those rogues had come from nowhere at all, she’d gotten out of the water, and they’d just appeared from out behind those trees. There was no breeze today at all and when it did blow it was gentle and came from behind her, went up that hill towards the pack. They would have smelled her long before she saw them as she got out of the water.
She’d just been laying about in the lake for an hour, it was dark, and she’d not smelled anything so hadn’t thought much about anything either, had just been enjoying relaxing looking up at the night sky, watching it darken over time, till there was no sunlight left. Stayed out there even after the night had settled in.
