"Hey... what's your name?" asked Minerva to Marion, who immediately turned her head and looked at her with sparkling eyes and an innocent gaze that soothed the hearts of anyone who looked at her. The girl smiled.
"My name is Marion, ma'am," Marion replied. She then turned to Jayme, who was smiling at the interaction between the little girl and his mother. "Papa, who is this lady? Where is Mama?" asked Marion, then in a half-whisper.
Jayme leaned closer to Marion, then replied to the girl's whisper in almost the same soft voice.
"Mama is away for a while. And that lady is my mother."
