*Flynn POV*
When Blaze asked me to pick up his sister from school today, I reluctantly agreed. I could think of a million other things I would rather be doing, but he doesn’t ask often, so it had to be for a good reason.
This weekend is our biggest rally of the year. Two of our affiliate clubs are joining us, and hopefully making more alliances, not just for the club, but also the pack.
Sometimes pulling double duty as Beta and VP can be rough. Sometimes what needs tobe d one conflicts with the other, and most times, those lines are blurred.
“Flynn, I need you to take the truck on Friday and pick up the kegs and the case of liquor I ordered from the state store. I still have to do a food order, so I may need you to get that too,” Blaze said as he was checking off his list.
“Heard, boss. Anything else?” I asked. He looked up from his notepad and c****d his eyebrow.
“Is there a problem?” he asked. I released a chuckle and shook my head.
“Nah, I love being an errand boy. It’s my favorite thing ever,” I said sarcastically. He threw a pen at me, and gave me a smirk.
“Good, be a good little b***h and go get my sister. I have a video call in ten minutes with the casino in Grande Ronde. I’m hoping the board of directors have got their s**t straight,” he said.
That damned casino again. I’ll give Blaze one thing, he didn’t give up easily. This is the third meeting in less than two months with the board of directors. He is trying to work out a security deal with them, but what he is asking for in compensation is pretty steep. The old girl who is the CEO isn’t budging. Not yet anyway.
“I’m out. Be back in a bit. Need anything while I’m out?” I asked. He shook his head, and I left his office.
I was nearly in the clear and out the door, but was stopped by Lori, my occasional pump. The one that has gotten overly attached and forgotten her place.
“Hey baby, where are you off to?” she asked. I rolled my eyes at her, and pulled her hands off my arm.
“You know you can’t touch me. I’ve told you over and over that we are nothing. I’m not your baby, and you are not anything but a good time occasionally. It’s none of your damn business where I’m going. Now, go the f**k away,” I spat.
I continued out the door, and when I started my Harley, she came running out behind me. Before she could reach me, I revved the engine, and sped out of the driveway, leaving her standing there fuming.
Sometimes I wish I had the authority to banish some of the broads that frequented the pack house, but Blaze says they have their use. Especially when the whole club is around, and Lori was a favorite among them.
Brie’s school wasn’t far from the pack, and I still can’t understand why she chose to go to the human school instead of being homeschooled. Being around all of those humans every day would get on my nerves.
I pulled in to where Blaze told me to wait, and watched as all the school girls walked by gawking. I laughed to myself, because it was too comical. There was no way in hell any of them stood a chance.
I squeezed my eyes shut, and rubbed my temples. My wolf, Asher, had been giving me fits for the past two days, and he was honestly giving me headaches. I don’t know what his problem is, but I really wish he would ease the f**k up.
Nearly all the kids in the school had come out, and still no Brie in sight. I asked one kid walking past me if they knew her, and he nodded.
“Her last class was with Mr. Dugan. Her friend said she was held back to speak to him. I don’t know why or how long she will be,” he said, and kept walking.
“Hey kid, what is the class number?” I yelled out to him. He told me it was room 125, in the basement, so I went to find the room she was last in.
I got several curious looks as I passed by teachers and students, but I was on a mission. My gut was telling me that something was very wrong, and I was going to find out why.
“Stop! Mr. Dugan, I don’t want this!,” I heard a female voice call out. I knew that voice well. It was the voice that sent chills to my core, and caused me to start running in the direction it was coming from.
I went to open the door, and it was locked. I began to pound on the door and call her name. When I heard the sound of something falling, I began kicking at it to see if I could bust in, but it was no use.
I saw the fire extinguisher down the hall, and I grabbed it and threw it through the glass on the door. The glass shattered all over the floor, but I was able to unlock the door and get inside. What I saw made me see red, and sent Asher into a rage.
There on the floor, a large man had Brie pinned to the ground trying to assault her. She was fighting him as hard as she could, but he outweighed her by at least one hundred pounds.
I kicked him off of her, and when he saw me, he started to try and “explain”. His explanation was placing full blame on her, saying she wanted it. If she wanted it so badly, why was she screaming for help? Why was she fighting him? His explanation was bullshit, and I let him know that he was in some deep s**t. If not with me, the police.
“Brie, get behind me. As for you, you slimy bastard, if I could kill you right here, right now, I would. Instead, I have to take you to the principal and let him call the f*****g cops instead. Forcing yourself on a woman is a crime, and the fact that she is a minor makes it even worse. You best pray that the police serve justice, otherwise, you will have to deal with me and her brother,” I snarled.
As I stopped to check on her, one of her school friends came in. A boy, the same boy who had told me where she was. This kid ran to her and pulled her into his arms to comfort her. I wasn’t happy with his presence, but I couldn’t console her, and dragged him to the principal at the same time.
I jerked the teacher up off of the floor, and dragged him towards the office. The boy walking with Brie behind me. Asher was losing his mind the whole time. I wanted to be the one making her feel better, but I couldn't. Not without revealing everything that I was trying to come to terms with.
When I flung him against the wall in front of the principal, I saw fear in all of their eyes. After explaining what happened, I called the police myself. I pulled her from her friend, and held Brie closely as we waited, and for the first time in days, I felt Asher calm down. Her birthday was still days away, and the signs that she is my mate were already starting to show themselves.
