Arden went straight to Duncan’s chambers and hammered on the door. Inside, Duncan’s head snapped up from his desk, startled by the sudden intrusion so late into the night. When he pulled the door open, he was stunned to find Arden standing there. She didn't say a word, but her expression said it all—if looks could kill, the King would have been dead where he stood.
“Arden, is everything alright?” Duncan asked, his voice laced with concern.
“No, Your Majesty. May I come in?”
