My surprissing encounter with Mr. Z, made me felt like I should leave this place as soon as possible. I stepped rapidly off the stairs without looking back, cause I was sure he was still there, watching me. "Please, don't leave Ms. Coleman," Elina pursuing me. "Sorry Elina, I can't. I need to go home now." I said as I hurried, ignored Elina, who was trying to block me. "I beg you, Ms. Coleman..." No Elina, I have to go, I can not possibly be in this place. It's too terrifying especially since I have no idea why Mr. Z is here too. Who the hell is he? And what on earth was he doing here. At my mom's new husband's house. Whatever it was I felt this was not a good sign. ** "Good morning, Is there a problem?" A mature man in a sports shirt coming from the front door greeted me with wide smile. "Good morning , Sir." Elina bow to him respectfully as she step back. Give him the space. He smile warmly, "Thea, it’s nice to finally meet you, I am Gerard Spencer, your mom's husband...” as he extending his hand. " How about join me for breakfast?" he continued "Hi, Mr. Spencer, It is nice to meet you but...I think I need to..." "C'mon don't call me Mr. Spencer, you can call me Uncle Gerard if you not ready to call me Dad, it's fine..." He said kindly, but I can feel something in his tone that made me believe he wasn’t used to be refused. The very type of rich man's ego. "But .... but... I...." My voice trembling as my mind spinning around to get some reasonable excuse to escape from this situation. “It’s a tradition in the Spencer family. No one misses it—no exceptions, especially since you will soon become part of this family. And I persisted." I hesitated but nodded. What else could I do? "Come Thea, follow me..." He led me to the dining room on the first floor of the mansion. The room was huge featured a long dining table with sixteen seats and dozens of dishes on it. “Sit. Make yourself at home” Mr. Spencer said, gesturing to one of the chairs. "Thank you," I replied. “I’ll go prepare your mother for breakfast.” he left me alone in the vast, echoing room. I sat down and felt really uncomfortable. The house was so silent. Only the servants moved quietly, bringing more food to the table. I looked around the room, feeling nervous. I still didn’t know if Mr. Z was part of this family or not. I hoped he was not. Then I heard steps. A girl with straight bangs and blonde hair entered the room. With her arms crossed, she stood by the table looking at me with a mocking smile. “MOVE! That's my spot.” she asked her voice angry and scary. I didn’t flinch and looked at her back. "Who the hell asking you to sit there?!" I made myself as calm as possible and give her sweetest smile, “Mr. Spencer told me to sit here,” I said in a steady voice. "No way! That's my f*****g seat! Get out now or I....!" The spoiled girl yelled, but it sounded more like whining. "Good morning, everyone!! Connie, stop it! You can sit somewhere else, right?" a young man said as he strolled to us. I tilted my head to see him. "But Lexi, that's my seat!" Connie said and stomped her foot. "She's our stepsister. You must be Thea, right?" He stepped closer, held out his hand. "Yeah, I am Thea..." "Lexi, second son of Spencer Family, you must be about my age," he chuckled. "What?! So....you're Aunt Jeannie's daughter?" Connie looked at me with disgust. "Mom Jeannie has looked after us since we were kids, and you still call her Auntie? Please Thea have some respect..." Lexi shook her head. "Thea, don't listen to her, she's ungrateful and you know... childish. Just ignore her, okay?" Lexi sat down next to me. "Can I sit here?" I nodded awkwardly, "please." "Then where do I sit?" Connie stood there, glared at me and look upset. "There are fifteen other seats, Connie. Pick one, don't trouble yourself." "Shussh...LEXI! PLEASE MOVE!" A sound booming, came from behind me. I closed my eyes tightly as I recognize this voice. Oh no please God, don't him. "That's my seat, my little brother!" Now he already stood right behind me, I could smell his perfume. The same perfume he use last night. "No, no... this mine! I came first!" "I am the oldest, I have the right to pick my seat, move now or I will take back my car?" "Oh Zeke! Please, why are you so annyoying?!" Zeke? So Mr. Z is Zeke. "Move, now!" Zeke emphasized his words, with no further protest, Lexi get up from the seat and move switfly next to Connie, while putting on his irritated expression. "Uhm hi, I am Zeke...." Zeke extending his hand, raised right in front of my face, waiting for my hand. For a few seconds I froze, my heart racing irregularly as if it wanted to burst out of my chest. I'm dead, I thought. Why is the world so narrow? Of all the possibilities, why did I have to meet him here? And as my stepbrother? Somehow my brain led me to the events of last night, and I could feel my cheeks heating up. His touch, his voice, and his every thrust are still very much there. Even the pain in my core hasn't really gone away. "Hey, are you blind or what, my brother extended his hand to you! Why didn't you respond to him right away?!" "Connie! Watch your mouth!" Zeke yelled, quite loudly, pulling me back to reality. With my hands shaking slightly, I finally shook his hand back. His grip is strong, just like last night, but now it feels wrong. Very wrong. "Hi," I said softly. Zeke's eyes met mine. In the next second he pulled his hand and sat in the chair damn right next to me. "Are you going to stay here?" He opened the conversation in a very casual voice that sounded so normal. Like we never met before. "No," I replied in the opposite tone, sounding fragile and anxious. "Ah too bad, I was hoping you would move in." He whispered nonchalantly. Suddenly I felt my cheeks hot as I kept looking at the table, pretending to be interested in the design of the white plate before me. Meanwhile Connie was still stared at me and Zeke in a suspicous look. "You're so annoying, Zeke! Always telling other people what to do!" Zeke, but Zeke didn't even look at her. "Sit down, Connie. You're making scene," he said calmly, his voice low but strong. Connie pouted her lips, looking away but still grumbling. "Don't worry about them," he hissed, smiling awkwardly. "They're always like this. You will get used to it." I nodded, trying to keep my composure. As now I felt my head spinning around like I got drunk. Oh s**t! How could this be happening? "So you, my stepsister?" His tone was incredulous. He looked shocked but tried to cover it up. Zeke put his hands on the table, leaned back in the chair, and tapped his fingers to hide his nerves. He did not look at me but I could see he was tense. And I knew we were both uneasy. "Yeah." I turned to him, biting my inner cheek.
