Jims had just finished his health check. The results were predictable. The situation is getting worse. He didn't have much time left.
"I'm sorry to say this. You don't have much time left," said the doctor who had treated Jims' illness so far.
"I know," said Jims.
Justin who accompanied Jims felt very sad. But he had to be strong and smile hard for Jims. Justin knew very well that Jims hated being pitied.
"Thank you for your help so far. Being able to survive until this moment is a miracle for me," Jims said to the doctor. "Let's go first," said Jims after paying for the treatment and taking the medicine the doctor gave him straight away. The drug is not a drug that can cure the disease, but the drug is a high-dose pain reliever medication. When the time came, Jims wanted to leave without pain. That's the plan.
On the way out of the hospital. Jims and Justin were both silent. They are immersed in each other's feelings. Jims thought of doing something fun before leaving. While Justin thinks his sadness will be abandoned by his best friend again. He will be alone.
"Shall we visit Steven. I haven't been to the grave where he rests in a long time," said Jims.
"Good idea. Let's go over there. Shall we bring some drinks?" Justine asked.
"No. I didn't plan to die today. Especially in front of him," said Jims.
Hearing that Justin laughed. They both get in the car. Justin is driving.
"Are you sure you're going to the funeral?" Justin asked again.
Jims nodded, "Let's go over there. At least I wanted to let you know how I was doing. Who knows when I move world, Steven will come to greet me."
"Okay, I get it. You must be afraid of meeting the grim reaper. In your heart you think if Steven was around, the grim reaper would be a little nicer to you."
Jims laughed, "You always know what I'm thinking."
"Of course. You're predictable." Justin laughed too. He started the car and took it to the cemetery where Steven and his wife were resting.
"Besides, I actually wanted to tell you something, Justin. A secret that Steven and I know about, but you don't."
Justin was surprised to hear what Jims said. So far the three of them had nothing to hide. Then what secret Justin doesn't know. If only Jims didn't have an illness and was sentenced to die soon, maybe Justin would have hit Jims for daring to keep secrets between them. Because it broke their promise of friendship.
"Are you angry?" asked Jims seeing Justin fall silent.
"No. Why would I be angry at a potential corpse," Justin said rather scathingly. That's the hallmark of Justin when he feels hurt. Realizing this Jims chuckled.
"This secret has nothing to do with you. This secret is actually between me and Steven. I asked Steven to keep this a secret from you. Because, I'm not sure if this will work or not. you," Justin said.
Justin sighed, "I feel disappointed. You two really want me to hit."
"You're not going to hit us, Justin. I'm pretty sure once this secret is revealed you'll feel excited again," said Jims with a faint smile.
"Really? I'm not sure. The three of us know that the three of us bear a lot of sin for killing so many people."
"What are you saying!?! Don't repeat that stupid regret. I told you that those we killed deserved to die. God will forgive us too, Justin. After all, since when did an atheist like you believe in a day of vengeance?" asked Jims in disbelief.
"I don't know, I'm just looking for an escape. I need something to lean on and I started looking for God," Justin said.
Jim was silent. He didn't think Justin would go that far. Jims understands Justin's feelings when he leaves this world. Jims will feel lonely as well as scared. In contrast to Jims who was physically ill. Justin was mentally ill. Especially since accidentally hurting Jims.
The car arrives at the cemetery area. Jims and Justin immediately got off. The two of them walked into the cemetery. There is something they forget. They don't bring flowers.
"I forgot to stop at the flower shop. Shall we go back first? It's uncomfortable to meet Steven empty-handed," Justin said.
"Don't worry, I brought something better than a flower," said Jims.
"Are you sure?" Justin asked doubtfully.
Jim nodded confidently. The two of them walked into the cemetery. Shortly thereafter stopped in front of a tombstone named Steven. They both decided to sit on the ground barefoot.
"Long time no see," said Jims.
"True, we came without bringing anything. But we will sit here for a while to accompany you," said Justin.
Jim smiled. His hand pulled the weeds around Steven's grave. While Justin cleaned the gravestone of dirt and soil. The two of them acted like a friend who had just met the friend they had missed for so long.
"How are you there Steven. As I promised you. I'll tell you a secret that we've been hiding from Justin. That way I don't owe you anymore," said Jims.
Justin stopped what he was doing. He was very curious, what secret was actually hidden from him. The three of them had always been very close like brothers. The three of them also vowed not to keep anything secret. But the oath was broken. Was that the result that the three of them ended up being separated by death?
"You two really have a secret?" Justin said in disbelief.
"Yes. We broke the secret. Let's just say we died because we broke our oath of friendship." Jims calmly said that. Making Justin try hard to contain his anger. He wanted to hit Jims right then and there. But Justin realized that it was no longer useful.
"We're keeping this a secret from you. Not intending to betray you. We intend to tell you once what we've been keeping is worked out." Jim took a deep breath.
Hearing that Justin increasingly did not understand. What is the secret to success? Because they always work on any project together. Was there really something they were doing without Justin knowing?
Jims began to tell one by one the secrets they had been hiding thoroughly so Justin wouldn't misunderstand. He hopes the secret he reveals will make Justin have the spirit to live after his departure.
"Are you kidding!?!" Justin shouted. He could hardly believe everything Jims said. The tears Justin was trying to hold back made his eyes turn red.
"Why am I kidding. You can see the evidence later," said Jims.
Justin immediately hugged Jims. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry," Justin repeated.
