Chapter Five
After the longest, hottest, most refreshing shower Kira had ever had in her life, she pulled on a pair of gray cotton pajamas that she found in the dresser of Asher’s posh guest bedroom. She crawled into the big bed, utterly emotionally and physically exhausted. Snuggled up against a mountain of pillows and a thick, soft comforter, Kira found sleep almost instantly.
When she opened her eyes, she lay still for a long time. Digesting the details of her situation, mostly. Struggling with leftover fatigue and sore muscles, too.
Aaaaand maybe avoiding Asher, just a little bit. Kira wasn’t much of a wallower in general. She liked action. She preferred to set a goal, break it down into small and easily manageable steps, and then conquer it.
