Kane heard her whispered thought and lifted his hand to trail his fingers through her silky hair. “Don’t you know by now? A stalker never leaves the one he loves.”
Tabatha raised her face so she could look into his eyes and felt the fear start to fade.
“I was staying away to protect you… I was wrong. I fell in love with you the night I heard you cry out above my grave. It was that moment that you became my soul mate and if I’d had the strength to find you that night, I would have.”
Tabatha smiled then giggled causing Kane to raise an eyebrow. In a childlike voice she said, “But mommy, why can’t I keep him? He says he loves me. I know I’m only eight but…” she giggled again when Kane flipped her onto her back and hovered over her growling softly. “I love you too.”
