He heard the girl whimper softly as she nuzzled her face into his chest. Kyou inwardly growled to keep the ice from melting around his frozen heart. He would not kill the girl if he didn’t have to, but he would be damned if he left her in incapable hands.
Mentally berating her ‘protectors’ and their lack of barriers to keep out creatures such as him, he gracefully slipped through the open window. Just as he lifted them into the air, he felt her breathing increase and knew she was waking up.
Kyoko felt the night wind surround her and bring her from the healing sleep she had just been in. She inhaled the air greedily as if she had just been brought back to life. On instinct, she slid her arms upward to wrap them around Kyou’s neck as she opened her eyes to the truth.
