Chapter Ten
The shimmering shaft of light streaming through the windows and the sound of laughter woke Orion the next morning. He immediately reached for Jenny. He snapped up into a sitting position when he realized she was gone. He fell back against the pillows when he heard Juno’s voice calling out in excitement.
“Run, Jenny!” Juno shouted.
“Safe!” Jenny called out, followed by a whoop of delight.
Orion’s lips curved into a smile. He could picture her dancing. Stretching, he rubbed his hands down his face. It had been years since he had slept so hard or so late. Shaking his head in disgust, he thrust the covers back, slid from the bed, and padded to the bathroom.
