Callaghan nodded. 'Don't make any mistakes about this,' he said. 'You've got to play this carefully. There's a butler at Chipley Grange by the name of Grant. He's a nice old boy. I imagine he's been with the family for a long time. He's probably the soul of loyalty. I want you to go down to Chipley and pick him up,' Callaghan went on. 'He has to go out sometimes. I want you to find out from him exactly what happened so far as he knows at Chipley on the night the Admiral died.
