2458 Parole

I sat cross-legged on my bed and stared at my cell phone, my heart in my throat. Ash hadn't called which meant he still hadn't remembered he owed me for the previous day. Or did it mean he hated paying me just as much as I hated being paid for spending time with him? He could have decided to stop the mercenary practice since there was no way he could have known how much I needed the money. But he wouldn't do that without consulting me first. Ash was a straight-up honest guy. A deal was a deal and he would honor it. Yeah, he was wonderful and sexy and so damned perfect. There was no way he'd remain unattached while I went off to make something of myself. That could take years, and he'd be snapped up in a heartbeat by someone beautiful and successful with a fulfilling life and career. Besi
