All the pups were getting to know their wolves, given enough time by the warriors.
It was needed that they had to bond with their wolf in order for the training to continue. The wolves inside every werewolf have their own conscience, their own instinct that the animal part of them needed to depend. Not only do they need to co-exist with them but their knowledge to what they should do when a situation would to arise must be a mutual decision - a thing that is only plausible if they are connected.
