Life at the farm quickly settles into a routine. Awaken before dawn. Hard physical labor in the fields. Meals taken with the family in an overcrowded kitchen. It reminds me of Basic Training, except for the prayers. Five times each day, the Amish join hands and sing praises to the Lord, while I bow onto my prayer mat and touch my forehead to the floor.
