"Bang!" The first bullet ripped through Bruce's palm. "Bang!" The second struck his leg, eliciting a scream of agony from Bruce. With a thud, he fell to his knees before Adelyn. Suddenly, the room was flooded with dozens of armed men dressed in black, who swiftly subdued Bruce's henchmen, pinning them to the floor. Adelyn's eyes widened in disbelief as a figure stepped forward, gun in hand. A silver cross hung on his chest, and his golden hair shone like the only light in the darkness. It was Trent! He crouched down and gently embraced her, his scent of sandalwood enveloping her like a comforting sea, evoking her an unprecedented sense of safety and warmth. He carefully removed the shard of glass from Adelyn's hand, his arms trembling slightly as if holding back intense emotions.
