Class had just ended when Nina leaned over and asked, “Are you absolutely, positively sure that you texted Shawn?”

I fished my phone out of my pocket, unlocked it, and opened the conversation. Without glancing at Shawn’s earlier message, I handed my phone to Nina.

She took it, but just as she was about to read, David strolled over.

“So, Lilith, how’s your day going? I have to say, you look cute in that top. I’ve noticed you for a while,” he said.

Lilith? How could he not know my name after all these years at school together?

“That’s not my name. Are you sure you’ve got the right person?” I replied.

I caught Shawn laughing while Nina rolled her eyes.

“Of course I do! To me, you’re my Lilith,” David insisted.

I just looked at him. His Lilith? Why would he say that? Is he playin
