Chapter twelveConfusion reigned. In no time at all the news spread throughout the palace and went like a prairie fire into the city. The enigma of the locked room tantalized. People openly connected all the murders in conversation, and rumor piled upon rumor. Doors were locked tightly at night, few people ventured onto the streets.
