I was awakened by my phone ringing. Stanton had covered me with a blanket when he left. I smiled and snuggled down in it before I remembered I had to answer the phone.

Reaching over, I hit talk without even looking at the number. I could only hope it wasn’t some sort of telemarketer. If it was, they’d have to deal with the small curse I’d put on them for disturbing my sleep. Nothing serious, just a mysterious rash that would form on their phone ear and be untreatable for a couple weeks.

“Mmm. Hello?” I grumbled into the receiver.

“Clover! Dear goddess, are you alright, sweetheart?” My mom practically shouted.

“I was napping, mom. You know how it is the day after the full moon.”

“Of course I do. That was the reason the police didn’t call us until half an hour ago.”
