Prologue

Prologue When Mikey, Aries, Warlord, and Sin arrived at the GPS coordinates of Katana’s location, they ensured to stop at least a few miles away. Given that it was the dead of night and up in the mountainous terrain, they would have no problem moving in wolf form from there on out. A few minutes after they arrived, the team Dorian also arrived. “Lucas, how was the drive?” Mikey asked. “Not bad. No traffic. Which is always nice,” Lucas replied. “Although Sam is kind of pissed she couldn’t come along.” “Why does that not surprise me? Who do you have with you?” Mikey looked around and saw Lucas’ entire team, Albert, and Amy from one of the tracker teams, Poseidon and Fury. “Fury, you good to go?” Mikey asked. “I’m getting there, Gamma. I need something to do to get my mind off of everything. So, killing that b*tch Katana is a good start.” Mikey nodded. He was glad to see Fury coming out of his shell. “So, what’s game?” Amy asked as she spun her Sais around her index fingers. “Are those Sais?” Sin asked. “Indeed, they are. My new favorite toys,” Amy bragged. “Has Gizmo seen them?” Mikey asked. “The Luna saw them when I was leaving. She wants me to train her,” Amy answered. “Of course she does,” Sin and Mikey said in unison. “You do know you can’t bring those with you when you shift, right?” Mikey asked, raising an eyebrow. Amy became dumbfounded and then frowned. “So, what’s game, Gamma?” Amy asked again, pretending as if she didn’t hear Mikey. “Save our friend and kill the enemy,” Sin replied, making everyone smile and snicker. “We’re waiting on a few people first,” Mikey told the group. “No need. We’re here,” they turned around to see Maxine and Claudia. “Perfect timing,” Sin says to them. “How’s Margot?” she asks Maxine. “Uh … I’ll tell you later. Things have gotten a little complicated.” “Is everything okay?” “I don’t know.” “Okay. We’ll talk after we kick some a*s.” Maxine nodded. “We’re waiting on one more—” “Gamma Rays, we’re here,” someone announced. The group turned around to see several men and women dressed to impress. The men were dressed in black, head to toe, while the women were dressed in red. “Uh, are you guys the Royal Fairy guards?” Mikey asked. “We are. His Majesty sends his warmest regards,” a man said, stepping forward to shake Mikey’s hand when, all of a sudden, a figure rushed past him. The next thing everyone knew, they heard a low growl, and one of the female fairy guards squealed. “Get your hands off of her!” “Let her go!” “Unhand her at once!” the other fairy guards shouted concurrently. “Warlord, what the f*ck!?” Aries exclaimed. “Warlord! Stand down!” Mikey commanded, but it was of no use. Warlord had the poor fairy guard tightly in his grasp. Mikey was about to use his Gamma tone when Sin stopped him. “What?” “Listen,” Sin said. Everyone calmed down and saw that Warlord and the fairy guard weren’t arguing or fighting. “I’m sorry,” the werewolves heard him say. “I couldn’t help myself. I sensed you from a mile away, but I wasn’t sure what was going on until you showed up,” he explained to the female guard. “It’s fine. You surprised me, is all,” she responded. “My friends and colleagues call me Warlord, for I am a bounty hunter. But you can call me Westley.” “I’m Arden.” “Arden, you are my mate.” “I figured.” “Will you accept me?” “A werewolf and a fairy pairing is forbidden!” a male guard shouted as he fumed at the newly destined couple. “Oh, shove it! Your Queen is a werewolf, you arrogant fool!” Sin snuffed the moment she heard the jealousy in the other fairy’s tone and his thoughts. “We can discuss this after the battle,” Arden told Warlord. He nodded and gently released his hold on her. “Magnus, you can’t possibly—” the fuming guard shouted at the head guard who stood in front. “Know your place, Douglas!” Magnus shouted, shutting down the jealous rampage instantly. “We do not have time for this. His Majesty wants Lady Abigail retrieved and returned to The Yellow Moon Pack. Arden, this won’t be a distraction, will it?” “No, Magnus. It will not. I can compartmentalize.” “Good.” With the sudden pairing between Warlord, the formidable bounty hunter of the Desert Moon Pack, and Arden, a Royal Fair Guard, the mission at hand needed to be prioritized. Everyone worked together in tandem and was able to not only rescue Abigail, but a fairy princess who now resided at the Yellow Moon pack with Deacon and identical triplet brothers, Apollo and Lucian, but also execute the target that tried to wreak havoc on the Gammas of the Desert Moon pack. After the mission was completed, Warlord came out of the dark witches' cave to look for Arden, but she had already left with the other guards to return Abigail to Yellow Moon. But she didn’t leave him hanging. Knowing he would use his sense of smell to track her, Arden left a fairy arm band tied to a branch in a bush with her phone number written on a sheet of paper. She also left her fairy mark, letting Warlord know that she did accept him, and they would be together. Yet, as Warlord stood in the moonlight clutching the token of his mate, a new shadow began to grow. Back within the Royal ranks, Douglas, the guard who had snubbed their bond, was already busy weaving a web of opposition. He would fight tooth and nail to ensure a werewolf and a fairy could never unite, setting the stage for a conflict that would test the strength of the Fated, but more so, reveal Arden’s carefully hidden secret.
