I dragged my tired eyes from the computer screen when my phone vibrated persistently. I knew it couldn't be Lucas, his calls had a unique ringtone. It wouldn't be Grace either—she would have stormed up here if I hadn't answered after two calls.

This was the fifth call from whoever was trying to reach me. Their persistence was admirable, I had to give them that.
