Zinvul Variance is a young legionnaire who is an A-list warrior in the proud kingdom of Chamenos. In a world mastered with cherub swords, he gained the title as the scorch master. His life went through a ridiculous training as a legionnaire for the sole purpose of destroying the villainy kingdom of Paradeiso.

The day has come when he encounters the Paradeisian legionnaires in the middle of a lone dying desert. As he clashes with them in an expected bloodshed . . . an unexpected revelation of truth unveils.

PROLOGUE
FIRE IS POURING out unto us. Though it’s just the sun shining down like wildfire, and it’s melting through our dense armor. But that’s how it seems as we are in the middle of a dying desert where the sand’s grain is dead as gray like ashes of men. But it’s not the heat that bothers us at the moment. As we are also in the middle of a life and death battle, and doom is right straight before us. The Paradeisian Legionnaires. Their semblance and their intimidating gawk make us feel like we are being judged in this world. They are clad in white cloaks, like shining clouds that descended into the earth’s surface. Their faces, veiled with their shining hoods. But I could see that in their chest, a white radiant armor is glimmering as their cloak is torn open in the front margin. Those marks on the shining steel on their mail are much as what I’ve heard in the tales. One of them has on the arm-wrist which is crafted on it, something that widened my eye like a swollen sun! The fish-eye symbol! No doubt about it, it’s them! Even the ground that they are standing is itself being pressured. As the sands nearby them are stirring like there’s a seaquake in this dessert. And anytime it will emerge towards us and eat us alive. Yes, the tales were true about the Paradeisian. They are indeed renowned that even with their presence alone divulge it. Imagine they are only standing and you could feel their power from afar that even my soul quiver in terror. The heat in this forsaken desert is doubled as we have gone pale with fear melded in vehemence. Their white cloaks that are hiding their faces are making them look dreadful. As if they are hiding their fangs. And their contiguity is filled with killing intent. A scent of blood is the only thing that I could smell from them, a murderous figure within those cloaks. My blood has gone cold. It can’t be helped. This is our end!  But they have been glaring at us, and it’s been a while now. What are they waiting for? We have already frozen to death even in the middle of the heat. And even if I want to move, my flesh and blood have yielded to demise. My legs have gone numb and unable to make a move even with an inch. Yet we stand with our fake stance ready for war but our bones are shaking. I look to my side, to my comrades, their demeanor seem okay. But it looks like they have wedged to the grave in fear I assume, as they’ve been standing as dead as a stone for a while.  The brothers, Wilson and Willie, are with us and our commander, Lord Fritz. Our murk armor is like coals being put under infinite pressure. Who wouldn’t when standing before these dazing enemies? Then suddenly Willie releases a massive grace within him and takes the courage to dash towards the enemies, followed by his brother, Wilson, swirling the sands they left behind.  I figure it out! They are making a plan of attack, as what they are famous for, their brother combo. Willie would act as a decoy in front, but what’s deadly is Wilson’s blaster sword as he stays hidden behind Willie.  Somehow my guts surge from within, and I felt my blood flow again. Now I feel alive and ready for battle again, all thanks to the braveness in this fray that they showed. Willie jumps in front of the enemies already drawn his blade. And there it is, the famous lightning sword that he wields. He swings it in mid-air and thunders are catalyzed in front of it.  Thunderclap screeches in the desert, and it envelopes his blade. It is marvelous! He makes a strong-willed swing. Summoning powerful and deadly flashes of lightning towards the enemies like rain.  A direct hit and it explodes where the enemies are standing. And it is amazing seeing those lighting raining beautifully but deadly. I heard that no one ever survived that attack ever since it is launched. It is magnificent to witness it myself. As it is my first time going on a mission with these powerful legionnaires. Sands are blown by the impact as it creates an unclear view of what happened to the fried enemies. Willie seems done unleashing those deadly bolts of lightning.  And he lands on the ground with a showy stance. And I can see his sword is still wrapped in lightning. The sound of its screech is so sharp, it’s even piercing through my ear. And it’s crying for more as if it’s not done yet, and it can unleash more.  But they have a plan, as they are famous for their combo attack. The real explosion is about to come. Here comes Wilson. He got his time to charge his blaster blade. Willie then makes a backflip so high that now Wilson is ready to release the full power of his cherub sword! Then here it goes. His blade swelling with smoke. It’s smoldering with melted fire like it’s about to explode! He thrusts it where the enemies are! Boom! An explosion like a cannon is fired toward them! Right straight to the blowing sandy field!  Its impact even reaches my chest as if it’s pressing the bones of my ribs tight! Then I jump a little backward. My vision is interrupted because of the energy scattering the area! And sands are raining everywhere from the explosion! “Legionnaires—” Commander Fritz suddenly cries, as he is about to continue to say something.  “I guess the rumors aren’t true, Commander,” Wilson interrupts the commander. “Paradeisians ain’t that worrisome as you can see,” Willie concludes. They turn and start walking back towards us. Ignoring the dead enemies who are fried and blasted to bits. And while they are walking back, I could still see the fire raging just like in the movie. The walk away of victory. The end. Commander locks his eyes on Willie and Wilson. And he cries with a tremendous fear that I’ve never seen him vent before. “Look out you two! There’s something happening back there!” The moment Willie glances back and looks to the dead enemies as we concluded, he sees Wilson just a farther behind him . . . but missing his head, and blood gushing down in his shoulder. As Wilson’s body falls, a hissed sound and a swing of a sword passed through Willie that is faster than the wind. He then realizes that he couldn’t feel his legs anymore, not only legs but his lower body. He drops face down on the gray ground. He tries to push against the ground to find out what happened . . . he pushes the ground to turn around. Then there he sees his legs are still standing, but his body has been dissevered from it. He begins to cough with blood and air is no longer passing through his lungs. His vision becomes blurry, and he sees a man in front of him standing above his head. Guess who and what it is? It’s a man with a white cloak hiding his face. Armor could be seen within him, in his arm-wrist is a fish-eye symbol crafted in it. It’s a Paradesian legionnaire.  Willie’s eyes close. He stops breathing. He dies. “Commander?” I cry with horror, as I don’t know what to do, and what to think! My bones feel like rubber that I can’t stand any longer. I see as the sand clears our vision, and everything is visible in their area where they are standing. Willie and Wilson’s deadly attack did not even make a scratch on any of them. As they are covered with some sort of energy shield shining like vibrant steel. One of them, the one who just killed the two elite legionnaires of our kingdom. Yes, that man now begins to make his steps towards us. Every step that he takes makes my heart pound louder. I could hear my heartbeat up to my ear and brain as it becomes heavier, and the ground is shaking as he comes closer. What a tremendous grace coming from this man! I am hopeless, and my grace is being drained, and I have accepted death as it has come today. I unconsciously lose the grip of my sword and drop it to the ground. It thuds the desert on my feet as it slams against the body of my blade. “Zinvul, what are you doing?” Commander Fritz yells at me. I think I’m already dead even if they haven’t killed me yet. I turn to the commander, his mouth is moving, and I know that he is saying something to me maybe, but I can’t hear it anymore. I’ve become deaf because of my fear. And all I can see is a stinging sound within my ear like I am caught in an explosion just next to my head. Suddenly a flash of memories just comes into my mind. I remember how we were told the tales about the Kingdom of Paradeiso and its legionnaires. Yes, I remember the clear image of those memories . . .   I was in a chamber back in our kingdom. It was during a session with Professor James. I remember how we were told the very tales and all their data to us. But why am I remembering this now? Is this the final memories I’m gonna remember before I die? Anyways I gotta hang on to these memories as it perhaps prolongs my death. Perhaps?
