I breathed in, preparing myself for what was about to happen.

I never thought that this was how my life would turn out.

I never thought that this was how I would leave this world.

Guess life is full of surprises.

Do I regret anything?

No. Because this led me to the man that holds my heart.

I’m sitting on my knees, my hands tied behind my back, with a gun barrel pressed to the back of my head.

I closed my eyes for a brief moment before opening them again to look at the man I would do anything for.

The only person I would want to see before my time was up.

The man I love so dearly.

The man who saved me, when he didn’t have to. The man who discovered love together with me.

The man that would give his life for me and who I would give my life to save.

I could see his mouth moving but I couldn’t hear what he was saying.

I could see him struggling against the chains that keep him tied to the wall, in a desperate attempt to come to my rescue.

I could see the tears forming in his eyes before they fell to the ground. Those beautiful eyes, that I could forever get lost in.

If only we had forever.

I could feel my own tears fall as I whispered what would be my last words.

“I love you,” I whispered.

Then a gun went off.

Chapter one
Ally’s POV   I breathed in, preparing myself for what was about to happen. You’re probably wondering how I got myself in this situation. Well let’s start from the beginning, shall we?   ***   “I miss you so much mom,” I said while putting the flowers next to her headstone. ‘Beloved wife, mother, and friend”. It’s been 8 years since she died, and things haven’t been easy at all.  “I’m sorry I can’t stay long today,” I sighed.  “I love you,” I said as I turned around.   I walked down the street to where I parked my car. I took one last look towards the cemetery before driving off. I drove to the closed-off road that leads to my neighborhood. I could see my “home” from down the road as I turned left. My father owns the biggest mansion on the entire street. The big white three-story mansion with more bedrooms and bathrooms than we would ever need. It was ridiculous honestly. But my father loved the house. He said it represents our power and wealth. And nothing is more important to him, than power. Not even me. Me on the other hand… I don’t really love it. I don’t even like it. It gets a little too big for just me and my dad. In the beginning, there were the servants as well but after mom died, they were all fired. I never fully understood why but I knew better than to question one of my father’s decisions. The only one left is our cook who was also my nanny when I was a kid.       I drove up to the main gate, begging for my father to still be at the casino. He could be… let’s say very strict when he doesn’t get things his way and one thing he doesn’t tolerate, is me visiting my mother’s grave. Why I don’t know. As I stepped out, I could hear my father’s drunk voice booming.  “Get inside! Now !” I whimpered at his tone. God, I’m in trouble… I crept past him, keeping my eyes on the floor. I knew better than to look him in the eyes when he was in this state.  “Would you mind telling me where you have been at this hour?” He asked trying to stay calm. I’m a terrible liar so I decided that the truth would be less dangerous.  “I went to visit mother,” I whispered, barely audible.  “You what?” I looked at him. He was mad.  “How many times have I told you not to go there?” He sneered.  “I don’t see what the problem is,” I stated as I stood my ground for the first time in a very long time. “I was just saying hi and giving her flowers. It’s more than you’ve done since she died!” “Don’t you talk back to me! You know damn well what the problem is!” He yelled.  “No, I don’t because you won’t even bother to tell me! We never talk about her!” I yelled back. “But why would I even expect that. You don’t care for anyone but yourself,” I grumbled.  Before I could even blink, he slapped me across my face. I stood there shocked for a few seconds. He usually wouldn’t hit me where people would be able to see it.  “Go to bed! I don’t want to look at you for the rest of the evening,” he spat before turning around and going straight to his office, slamming the door. I just shrugged it off as I walked up the stairs towards my room. This wasn’t news to me. Since my mother died, he didn’t want to look at me or spend more time with me than necessary. He started to drink and gamble a lot after her death. How we are able to stay in our house and keep living the way we are, I do not know. Whenever I was a little out of line I got punished. Either I was hit, or I was being locked in my room without food and water for two days straight.  As I reached the second floor, I slowly walked to my bedroom and closed the door just as I could feel the tears forming in my eyes. The fact that he hit me, doesn’t hurt me as much as the fact that this sucks. The only person to ever truly love me is dead and now I am stuck with my dad. I try to be the perfect daughter to him. Not because he deserves it, but because it saves me a lot of trouble. To the world outside, he seems like any other father would. Loving and caring. Nothing but a big facade. I know the sides of him that he keeps hidden from the world around us. He is no longer the dad I knew from before mom died. He is cold and cynical. He cares for no one but himself, his money, and his power. I don’t even think he would care much if I wasn’t here at some point. He only acknowledges me if I need to do something or need to attend to a business thing with him to make him look better. It’s safe to say he treats me more like a slave than a daughter. To be completely honest, I don’t think that my mother’s death created this person. I think it awoke it.
