"This wasn't supposed to end this way! You wasn't supposed to die yet!" Azalynne screamed silently to herself as she looked at her best friend Brain in the casket.

' Who am I to speak to? Who am I to turn to when I need a shoulder?' She continued as tears streamed down her face. ... But what she didn't know is someone had been watching her for a long time, waiting for their perfect time ...

Chapter One.
*third person's view*          "This wasn't supposed to end this way! You wasn't supposed to die yet!" Azalynne screamed silently to herself as she looked at her best friend Brian in the casket.  ' Who am I to speak to? Who am I to turn to when I need a shoulder?' She continued as tears streamed down her face.  He was her best friend ever since they were children. They grew up next door from each other. Brian had always been the sun kissed blonde hair, blue eyed boy, that would always run up to her, pick her up and spin her around as she squealed to let go. When he would put her down, he always had that crooked grin. Azalynne was this beautiful shy red hair green eyed girl. Her and Brian was like two pea's in a pod.  As they grew so did their bond. It never went beyond friends, they said it'd be too weird. She never seen Brian as angry as he was the day she broke down and told him about her step-father sexually abusing her. He was berate, red in the face, searching for his pistol. Azalynne was in tears asking him to please calm down. He did when he saw her pain. He held her and said "Don't worry Az, he will get his day."  The next day her step-dad went to jail. Court was horrible, but Brian never left her side. He was there to wrap his arms around her when her mother started to abuse her. He was her angel and protector.  As Azalynne was deep in thought, she didn't hear Nancy, Brian's mother call for her.  "Azalynne, come back and sit down. Brian wouldn't want you to be sad like this." Nancy said, as she led Azalynne back to the reserved family seating. There sat Nancy, her second mother. Her blonde hair fading to silver up in a tight bun. Her blue eyes looking at Azalynne. "Come on dear" She patted the seat between her and Gary her husband, Brian's father. Brian was his twin. They always looked like brothers. Same facial features, eye's, and hair, except Gary's was turning pepper grey.  Azalynne took a seat, and just stared at Brian. Gary wrapped his arms around her and gently hugged her.  "We are having a dinner after this, if you would like to swing by and collect some of his things for your safe keeping?" He asked in a whisper.  "Yes, that will be lovely. Thank you" She responded hugging him back.  She slipped off into her own thoughts as the priest began to speak of Brian's life.  "Azalynne, you need to come to Regional Hospital. Brian was involved in a drunk driving accident." His mother calmly said as Azalynne picked up the phone.  "Wh...Wh....What?! He just left my house 5 minutes ago. I had begged and pleaded for him to stay a little while longer." Azalynne responded, chocking on the lump in her throat.  "Honey, the driver ran the stop sign, hit Brian head on. He didn't have a chance to move." Nancy replied, as she too was holding back the tears. "Hurry here hon, they say he won't last long." Azalynne rushed out the door without putting on her coat. It was a cold November day. She didn't care. She needed to be there.  15 min's later she arrives, rushing through the ER.  "Where is he?!" She said loudly.  Gary and Nancy rushed to her side and led her down to Brian's room. He was barely hanging on to life when he seen her.  "Az...Az...lynne...." He breathed out in a raspy voice. Azalynne rushed to his side. "Shhh... Don't speak. I'm here." She said as tears began to fall, while holding his hand. " I love you Brian. Please stay with me. I'm begging you. Just 10 more minutes." She went on smiling. Begging each other for 10 more minutes had always been their thing.  He slowly manages a crooked smile "I.... I.... Lo...ve..... y...o..u  t..o..o..." Taking a deep breath still half smiling "But.....*breaths* if I....*deep breaths* don't go.... *another long deep breath* I'm going..... *breaths* To be.....*breathing more slowly* In trou.....*his chest starts to slowly rise as he breaths the last part* ble...." His chest fall's, his sweet crooked smile fades, as he passes.  Azalynne hits the floor on her knee's and cried. "He waited for you." His mother said as she rushed to her side and held her. Both crying on the floor.   Azalynne is snapped out of the memory by Nancy gently gripping her shoulder to let her know it was time to go. With one last look, She said her good bye's and walked out the door.  "We will see you at the house" Both Gary and Nancy said as they got in their 2016 ford focus.  "Ok. Be safe. See you soon" She responded back wiping tears from her eyes climbing in her 95 blazer.
