5Days!!

Rain dashing against the window of a small room where a teenage boy was asleep, it seems as if he was having a nightmare, rolling all over the bed, groaning, his eyes still tightly closed. In his dream he was running away from people who are so determined to catch him, he looked into their faces, he could see the redness in their eyes with tears rolling down their cheeks, they caught up on him, pinning him to the ground, he struggled without making eye contact on anyone, he closed his eyes until he tried to take a glimpse, he slowly looked, what he could see was scars and marks which looked like teeth marks on their body, “Wake….up……wake….up…..Joshua,” they whispered, immediately he woke up hearing the thunder that was preceded by lightning outside his room, sweating profusely and shivering, his Aunt was already on his bed holding his shoulders, “Joshua,” she said. Joshua shallow rapid breathing as he stared at his Aunt, his lips slightly stretched horizontally back to his ears, she smiled then said, “the nightmares again,” teenage Joshua nodded, he hugged his Aunt tightly, She seems slightly surprised then she put her arms around him as teenage Joshua felt warmer, “You don’t remember what you dreamt about again?” teenage Joshua nodded while on her arms, she removed her arms from teenage Joshua then stared into his eyes, “Do you want to go back to sleep, or shall I make you a cup of tea?” she suggested, teenage Joshua smiled and nodded. She giggled, “Then tea is on the way,” she left his room to make tea, teenage Joshua stared at her as she left then he looked at the window as the rain dashed against the window heavily then he swallowed. Fifteen years later. It was a rainy Monday morning, in a country of Biageria, in the city of Ayanfe. Which is also nicknamed as The city of Rainy Sky because without any warning it rains on everyone in the city like a blessing in disguise. The years when all the countries around the world were getting developed in science and technology, A Revelation was given by a lady about a strange cause that will happen to the world for days, but that was five years ago, people waited for it but eventually they rapidly forgotten about the Revelation. Still pouring, A tall hoodie man walking at the road side towards a building which is later known to be a school. The school owns one of the best pupils in Ayanfe city under the help and protection of the school principal. Mr. James. The tall hoodie man name is Joshua, a Biagerian. Ayodeji Joshua was his name, also a teacher in IDAN international school teaching both Basic's pupils and Secondary pupils, while on his way he met one of his pupils, named Ojo Ronke. she was one of Joshua's pupils and the overall best in her class. With a smile on her face, she greeted him "Good morning to you sir." "Good morning to you too." He answered, smiling back at her direction as they were entering the school gate with other people with various type of colored umbrellas including the pupils, teachers, parents and the school bus. The school was guarded by twelve securities, four at the gate, two at entrance of the door facing all the classes and the remaining six patrolling around the school. The school was one of the largest building in Ayanfe city. Later in the afternoon, it was a sunny hour. Joshua was teaching In a secondary class, he taught his pupils about technology condemning it that it was a distraction and supporting in reducing humans ability to grow and expand in their relationship with people around them. He also told them, that someday and somewhere technology will be the downfall of the world because nobody seems to talk to each other instead focus on their devices all day long. You can imagine a world without technology or science though it will be so hard for us to live, just like in our health, our transportation etc. but it all worth it, the inventions of all these technologies even increase the rate of accident, murder, greediness. “Not that we don't need them for our comfort. But everything will soon be........” as he was talking the school bell rang for closing so he had to stop and call of the class, "lets call it a day, good day class." as he went out. He walked through the hallway of the school, he saw some basic pupils running and the man on security uniform trying to control them in the hallway to the school bus. He shouted at their direction. "Don't rush. Being dirty makes us?!" He paused. The pupils replied back with a shout. "A naughty human!!" "And for those that have no choice?!" "O Lord please heal them!" So they all calmed themselves and went on the school buses gradually. That actually work, in terms of controlling the pupils, The man on security uniform came to him and said grinning. "Thank you sir." He replied back with a smirked. "Thank God." After, He went back to the staffroom to get ready to go home also, he met his fellow teachers, some were already packing their belongings to go home, then a lady came out of no where and tinkled Joshua at his back, he reacted really surprised and scared looking back at who did that to him, seeing the person, he smile, it was one of his child hood friend, also teaching in the same school with Joshua. Mrs. Chioma Oputa. She was married, she married a banker Mr. Sunday Oputa, Mrs. Chioma loved Joshua as a friend she saw him as an assistant coach for everything, she also called her late dad her coach because he advised her on so many things including negativities on technology. People admire her because she was beautiful, kind and a hard working woman. "Where are you going tonight?" she raised her chin and look straight to his eyes, Joshua put his head down to look at her. "Well no where, I will be at home making the paper work for the pupils." He replied. She put one of her finger on her jaw in a way she look as if she was thinking and then point at Joshua, Chioma replied him with a serious tone , "Ok am taking you out to night and don't say No coz I don't take no for an answer you hear." "Where are we going, but I have many paper work to do." he thought looking at Chioma He could see her looking anxious to tell her something, he jerkily replied back. "Okay okay, I will go with you. but where?" She nodded and said. "Let meet at the coffee shop in Ajao street," she knew it sounded awkward to be with Joshua at that time. "don't worry I told my husband about it." Joshua was surprised. "Buh you are a married woman what will you be talking about with me by that time even which time tonight?” Joshua asked as he furrowed his brows, "By eight in short it is not far from my home and also," she exulted. "Am in a strong hand... you are tall, handsome, muscular, intelligent and ...." "Okay okay okay I will be there please stop." He interrupted her raising his hands, she laughed "Okay. promise me you will come, don't be late o and even if you are late I will not take it easy with you" Joshua looking confused. "What's going on." He thought. "Ok I will come definitely......" checking his wrist watch. "Come let get going shall we." Later that night........8:39 Joshua was at his house typing on his laptop in the sitting room with the TV switched off, a furnished and a well arranged room which was a self contained apartment. He got his neatness from his Aunty, living with her before she got married to a white man in another country. His Aunty taught him to be neat always, keeping both himself and his environment clean also she told him that where ever he find himself, he should always be neat and discipline. He stand up to take some shower and order for pizza, that was his routine every Monday before going to bed. He looked at the wall clock, suddenly he was shocked. seeing that he was late and totally forgotten about meeting Chioma he hurried to the bathroom "I have to be fast where is my brush," going to the bathroom, "oh I found it!" Some minutes later. He arrived at Ajao street reaching the coffee shop he saw Chioma inside checking her phone and was about to call Joshua but as she looked up she saw Joshua coming, he was looking scared saying from afar, "Am really really..... am really ......sorry that am late will you forgive me, again this time I will never be late again." reaching to Chioma who was sitting down at the coffee shop looking a bit annoyed but she understands what her friend can do so she was not really angry. As he was sitting down in front of her, "So why did you call me here tonight. Any problem?" He asked. "Hmmmm nothing is the problem but first let us order something" Chioma replied him then she shouted raising her hand higher "waiter!!" "Yes ma!" The waiter happily replied. "Please bring us both ramen and sauce with one cup of coffee each. thank you." as she looked at Joshua she smiled. "We really need that for our paper work tonight coz am also not done with mine." She said smiling, Joshua nodded and smile "thanks. Now tell me or you have started again with your riddles or beating around the bush before you tell me what's going on." "No not this time," she said. "I just want to say..... Am happily married, Am in a wonderful home, I even have two lovely kids but you when are you...." Joshua looked down, a bit sad but raised his head up with a smile as he interrupted her saying "I knew this conversation will happen one day but Chioma am really fine as I am, thank you for caring buh you know all the ladies around me don't love me for who I really am, all because am tall muscular and so on they will come buh when they are so close to me they will all say am boring I talk about this and that, I talk about the negativities of technology I'm not romantic. am that. am this," looking intensed. "That actually make me feel fed up so I quit talking to ladies, you know what." he continued "You are the only one apart from my mum, dad and my aunt that actually cared and understood me better because most of the time what you say and do to me doesn't matter but what you think of me mattered." Chioma nodded and said. "But am now married." thinking whether Joshua wanted to have her closer than this but Joshua reassured her saying. "Yes I know you are married, the reason why I didn't dated you back then was because I thought you would break my heart and what am actually really more afraid of is me breaking your heart and not the right person. When you showed me that it was Mister Sunday you wanted to marry, I was so happy that you are in the right home." Chioma was sad to hear that and she was about to cry but Joshua held her hand saying "Please don't. You love Sunday right?" "Yes, more than you can ever imagine." she replied him almost immediately, Joshua smiled, "Then if you are happy, am also happy. Okay okay don't worry because of you I will find the lady who I will spend my time with and she must be a very devoted Christian woman who feared God even more than you do Chioma." he joked. Joshua checked his wrist watch, it was 9 :55pm he said, "Time up Chioma it is time to go remember Mr. James said the paperwork should be ready before noon by tomorrow and again, he gazed at Chioma with a smile, “ thanks for caring." They finished up their food. She paid and they both went out of the coffee shop. Joshua escorted her to her house, both of them were silent through out the walk as they can feel the warm cooled breeze flowing through their body. After reaching Chioma's home Joshua knocked. Mr. Sunday who was Chioma's husband open the door to let her in, seeing Joshua he was excited to see him even saying he should come Inside but Joshua replied, "thank you sir I will be on my way because tomorrow is a big day, bye for now Sir." As Joshua was about leaving he heard Chioma's kids as they were running to him shouting "Uncle Joshua!!! uncle Joshua!!!! wait!!" Joshua looked back surprised "Why are you not in bed by this time." He said looking at them in amazement. “we were waiting for mummy." one of the kid whose name was Chidi the first child from Chioma said, the other kid a girl, whose name is Diamond, while looking up at Joshua she said, "So we can't sleep until we know that mum is back." "So why did you two lovely kids called me." Joshua said as he bent down to touch their cheeks. "We wanted to ask if you will take us out this weekend." they both said with a smile. Joshua looked up to the sky for some time and then looked at Chidi and Diamond, "Hmmmmm I will see what I can do about that hummmmmmmm okay we will go." He said, Chidi jumped to Joshua arms "Don't forget to take Daddy and Mummy with us." Chidi asked, Joshua smirked looking at Sunday and Chioma standing from afar holding hand also smiling, "okay I will also take both of them okay?" as Joshua was putting down Chidi he said, "So kids go back inside it's already late you know there is school tomorrow." "Okay uncle Joshua." they both replied. Chioma walked to them to take them back inside she looked up at Joshua, "We will be expecting you then goodnight." Chioma said, "Goodnight to you too." He replied then looked at Sunday and waved to him as he walked back home. Walking back home was so lonely for Joshua staring at the sky while the star twinkles and the moon brightened up the way to his home, reaching for his apartment door he saw a man called baba 70 who was an elderly man but not actually 70 years old, he looked older than his age, so he was nicknamed Baba 70. At his early 60's he dressed in rags smoked, drank and also talk to himself often it was told before all this mess in his life, he was a very brilliant man who was once rich with so many houses and cars but left it even forgotten where he put all his properties all because his wife and children left him for another man and later came to know that his children was not his own they were for the man his wife left him for. The story was sad even for a love story. Joshua greeted "Good evening sir." "How are you Joshua." he replied with a big grin on his face holding an empty bottle on his hand while he walked away. As Joshua was about opening his door with his keys, Baba 70 stopped suddenly he called Joshua and said with a scary and a serious voice "Be careful Joshua something big is about to happen for days and there will be a great disaster upon the whole world." Joshua paused looking shocked and confused as if he was having a stand still, turned back looked at him. "What did you just say Sir?" He tautly said, baba 70 looking confused turned around looked at him from his legs straight to his eyes. “What are you talking about? Me that am looking for a place to buy some drink or did I even say anything to you even why am I talking to you, did I know you?" he asked. Baba 70 as totally forgotten all what he said to Joshua because of his sudden abilities not to remember what he said minutes ago, so he went on put the empty bottle on his mouth as if he was drinking which was empty as he walked away moving in a weird way leaving Joshua amazed and confused for some seconds. later he shook it off he then went inside to his apartment. After He locked the door behind him, he went to the kitchen opened the refrigerator and brought out a bottle of water to drink walking to the sitting room he switched on his TV and watched an episode of cartoon because he loved cartoons since he was a little kid after he laughed, giggled and was excited for some time, he switched off the TV went to his room and continued his paperwork for tomorrow.
