The Ganeswolf

    The moon was high in the sky. Big, round, and bright. The blueish tone gave a clear meaning as why it was called a blue moon. A babes cry could be heard vibrating as it echoed far and wide. A sad looking mother holding her babe. This lost young mother trying so hard to be happy for the healthy baby boy now gently nestled in her arms. His plump little cheeks were scrunched up and his little face was fast turning red. His frustration could be easily seen as well as heard as he began to cry out. If only he understood his mother could do no more to comfort him then she was already doing.     On the run from the rogues attack had caused her labor to come on early. Claw marks from fighting her way past the rogues were red and swollen. Her wolf was tired and could not heal her. After all her wolf had used all her strength to help her keep running to a safer place to hide and give birth. Now, after struggling to give birth her injuries were draining the last bits of life she had left. Oh how she wanted to be able to smile and rock her new pup and be happy of his long awaited arrival. The sadness of her situation just would not allow for her to be happy. Loosing her mate during the rogue attack had been devastation and now not having the strength to protect her pup. Her heart was shattered. She prayed to the Moon Goddess to protect her pup while she continued to weep for the loss of her mate.  She knew that her own life was slipping away. Her wolf had lost her ability to heal her from the pain of loosing her mate. Her injuries were too great to survive with out her wolfs healing abilities.    Kimi, held her pup in her arms and gently held him hoping he could feel what little love she had left to offer him.  A few short months ago she had longed for this day as she had excitedly chatted away with her love Blade. Blade, was her mate, a second chance mate by choice. She did not seek to find a mate after what the Alpha had done to her. Blade had loved her in spite of the pain she had suffered because of Luther's cruelty. She actually loved Blade more deeply than she had ever loved anyone before due to his gentle patient manner.  He had stayed by her side and helped her heal after witnessing what Luther had put her through. Kimi had to hide the love she felt for Blade until they could find a way for her to safely reject and escape their current pack, the Coldmoon pack. Appropriately named as it completely described its Alpha, Luther Frost. Frost was originally Kimi's mate however he had very cruelty rejected her. Frost had been desperate to find his mate so he had been hosting mini galas daily in the name of  helping his pack grow by helping his pack members in finding their mates. None of it had been about his pack members. It had always been about him finding his mate.     Kimi's father had once been a Alpha himself. He was killed during an attack on their pack that took place during the dead of night while her clan, the Greystone pack, had been sleeping and unprepared. The border guards had been ambushed so no warnings had been sounded. After the raid on Kimi's pack,  Alpha  Dalton of the Coldmoon pack had came to their rescue and taken what little remained of the Greystone pack in and given them a place to recover and call home. Most of the warriors had been killed or injured. Most of the injured were so injured that their wolves could not heal themselves leaving them unable to defend the pack. Knowing that they had no other choice Kimi's mother, the Luna Karen, wisely had given up her role as Luna and taken the refuge offered. The Greystone pack was no more. Kimi had been a young teenage pup at the time of her fathers death. Her mother had struggled after his death. Thankfully her wolf and her human were both strong enough to finishing raising Kimi so Kimi did not find herself all alone. Life in the Coldmoon pack had been bearable for all of the pack members as Alpha Dalton had been a strong and gentle Alpha. Then Luther Frost had showed up and challenged Alpha Dalton for his title. The challenge had been accepted. Alpha Dalton could not very well not accept the challenge. The challenge had been agreed that it was a challenge until one bowed out or only one remained. The fight had been long and fierce. Blood splatters littered the ground. Each Alpha had broken bones that had already begun healing due to the strength of each of their wolves. Both Alphas were equally strong. Luther had the advantage of youth on his side. While Alpha Dalton had experience as his advantage. It was clear that neither of these two werewolves would be backing down anytime soon. The growling and the snarling at each other sounded threatening to even those standing too close to the fight, warning them to back up as to not be injured by the fighting Alphas. Luther had brought along two other rouge wolves with him. One minute the two wolves were watching the quarrel with the rest of us and the next minute they had disappeared as the fight had burst thru the privacy fence lining the fighting arena into the brush just outside the sanctioned fighting area. On the other side the fence more that one attacker could be heard fighting and then all went silent out side of hearing heavy breathing. Alpha Luther came walking out of the brush alone. Alpha Dalton was dead. The two wolves that had arrived with Luther had suddenly disappeared. I am sure they went to lay up and heal from their wounds inflicted by Alpha Dalton before they ambushed him to take away his Alpha title .Life for everyone in the Coldmoon Pack was never the same.  Kimi longed for her mother and father. How she wished that they could have been here. In this moment she needed them more than ever. In her heart she knew they would know just how to help her find safety for her new born pup. Her father would never have stood for the abuse she had suffered because of Alpha Luther. He would have killed the Alpha and any of his warriors for even thinking of hurting her. If only she could get her pup to safety she could find peace in her final moments. Nestling her little guy close to her chest after nursing him as best she could. She made the decision on a name for her pup. He deserved to carry a name given to him by her to be called as they passed from this life to the next as she was sure they would be passing on to the next life together.  Praying for mercy from the Moon Goddess for her and her pup. Knowing it was possible that her wolf, would meet the Moon Goddess as the passed onto the next life. Kimi's prayed hoping maybe just maybe she would find a second chance for her and Blade to be reunited in the next life. The thought of her Blade made her smile briefly.  Logan Blade Starke, she decided. Logan after her own father as it was his middle name and Blade after her mate. Yes, Kimi was happy with her choice of a good strong name for her son to be named with. Kimi's last resolve was to die trying to find her pup safety if possible. She was to weak to shift so she bundled him close to her chest and cover herself as best as she could with the rags she wore. Walking along she finally found a foot path. The path smelled more of human traffic than that of a werewolf. It was there that Kimi sat down to rest hoping to reserve her strength long enough to find the next footpath belonging to her own breed of werewolves. Humans would not know how to raise a werewolf child safely. She really needed to find her own kind. Hopefully a werewolf not known by the Coldmoon pack. A few hours later, with barely enough strength to whisper Logan Blade Starke, her eyes gently closed for the last time. As the last of Kimi's life source faded two gentle arms were reaching out to her fretting  over her and her new born pup. She could hear the gentle spoken whispers of what felt like a kind soul telling her to rest now that her wee baby was safe with her. Kimi actually felt a sense of peace wash over her as those gentle words spoke. She prayed that her pup was indeed safe and would find the happiness that this life had denied her.
