The Mermaid's Last Wish

Princess Lena was chased by a shark. She tried controlling its mind but it was controlled by someone more powerful than her. “Stop chasing me!” Her tail was accidentally hit by something sharp. She looked up at the light coming from the silhouette of the sun. The shadow was too big for her and she swam fast down to the seafloor. She saw a small cave of corals and hid herself there. When she looked back, she saw the shark with blood. “It’s the end but I need to go home first before a man catches me.” She waited for an hour and left the small cave with courage. It was already midnight when she returned to the Myrthe Kingdom. Their kingdom was supposed to be the powerful in the whole ocean and sea but her father was still missing for ten years. The beautiful and bountiful kingdom turned to a lifeless one. It was a little bit dark and some mermaids and merman were slowly dying because of the shortage of food. “Princess Lena, you’re back!” The small carp, Mochi, swam towards her. “Yes, I’m back.” They gasped as the mermen guards were pointing their swords at them. “Look at that!” Mochi pointed his lips at their back but they did not obey him. Princess Lena swam away with Mochi. The fear that they felt made them realized that something bad would happen. They swam to the secret place where only she could enter. She used her mind power to eradicate the soldiers and she did it. She sighed as they felt that they were safe. “It was too close. I mean, we should get out here.” They swam to the secret passage of a door hidden at the seafloor. There were downstairs and they wondered what was inside that place. “Stop it.” Mochi was afraid of the dark as they soon reached it. “Let me help you.” Princess Lena put Mochi to her hands and covered his eyes. She swam unceasingly until she found the small light. It was getting bigger as they went nearer. “There was another world around us.” She swam a little bit closer to the white sand. The sun made her flinched when she was stricken by sun light. She dropped Mochi in front of her and he was amazed at the another world. “It was making me feel relieved.” “Yes, but I am worried about my mother.” She looked down as Mochi was enjoying the view of the sea. “What’s wrong?” Mochi stopped roaming around her. “I need to go back. I need to find my mother and older brother.” She swam back but there was a barrier that her naked eye could not see. “What is this?” “A barrier”, someone said with a creepy old voice. Princess Lena looked around but there was nobody. “It’s scary.” Mochi hid himself at her back and there he saw an old woman who was wearing a black cape. Her nose was not that pointed and her finger nails were pointy and long. “It’s a witch.” “Yes, I am a witch, my dear goldfish. Do you want to spend your time as my servant?” Mochi hid himself at Princess Lena’s back and he was frightened by the witch. The witch raised her hands above her head and the place went dark. “No!” Princess Lena screamed at the top of her lungs and then, she was awaken from the nightmare. Queen Bettina hugged her and rubbed her back. “That nightmare is just a nightmare. It will not happen.” “I’m scared.” She was crying and Mochi went to her. “I’m always here for you.” They were silent as soon as she stopped from crying. The room of Princess Lena was too simple. She went to the mirror and saw herself pretty. She swam with a twirl on the last tip of her hair and sang. “What’s up with you?” Mochi was swimming around her with a teasing smile. “Are you going there?” “Yes.” She got out from her room and swam faster to the secret gate of their castle. She swam until she reached the shore. “Wait for me!” Mochi was trying to be with her but it was like she did not hear it. She reached the white sand of the beach and he saw a boy same as her age. He was looking at the sea with a deep thought. She whispered, “Come on, look at me.” “Who’s there?” He looked around but he did not see it. She laughed secretly but she made a noise through her tail. He went to the place where she was sitting. “Who are you?” He covered his mouth when he found out that the girl in front of him was a mermaid. His sight went black and fell to the white sand. “Wake up!” She tapped softly his face and saw his face was a bit red. “Morpheus! Morpheus!” a little girl was calling his name. “Where are you?” “I need to go.” Princess Lena swam back to her place and let herself to look back at him. “Morpheus.” She was sitting at a big rock formation on the other side of the Myrtle Kingdom and she remembered him. “His name is Morpheus. I will remember his name forever.” Her thoughts were shut when Mochi came calling her. “Where are you?” “I’m here.” She smiled at him and raised her hand. Mochi came up and wrapped with a bubble of seawater around his body. “So, what did you do?” He was twirling around her, teasing her with his sparkling eyes. “Well, it’s a secret.” “I heard his name.” He turned around her head and stopped at her face. “I don’t care. As if you really heard it.” She rolled her eyes and went to the seawater. “Let’s go back.” “Morpheus!” He screamed but she shut his mouth closed. “Stop screaming his name. He will be in danger.” She was pissed and left him. “Princess Lena… I’m sorry.” He was pleading about forgiving him. “Just leave me alone.” She swam back to her room and shut the door. “I will not do it anymore.” Mochi slowly swam back to his small room and shut his door. A big crack of rock formation made Mochi alarmed. “What is that?” He was about to swim at Princess’ Lena’s room but it was the mermen guard blocking his way. “What’s going on here?” He was silently swam to the smallest hole at her room and found her sleeping. “Princess Lena.” He whispered at her ear, careful without making a noise but she covered her ears with her hands. The loud bang made her eyes widened. The mermen guards moved in front of her and their eyes were red. “What’s happening?” Mochi swam and said, “Let’s go out of here.” “My mother and older brother.” She gasped and swam but she was blocked by the mermen guards. “I’m going to the queen.” Her wrist was held by a merman guard and she noticed that it was not their royal guard. Its armored suit was different from the usual look of theirs. She tried controlling their minds but the power of the one controlling them was too powerful. So, she made used of controlling the water and hanged all of them to the wall of her room. “Let’s go, Mochi.” She made a bubble of seawater around Mochi’s small body and controlled it to follow her. “I’m exhausted.” She stopped swimming in front of her mother’s room. Mochi pushed her back as she opened the door of the room. They saw her mother lying on the floor. “Your Highness.” She rushed to her and checked her pulse. “Get out.” Queen Bettina sat and made the biggest bubble and pushed the Princess Lena and Mochi. “The prophecy is scary.” “What prophecy?” She was trying to get out of the bubble but she could not.
