Chapter One: History
Blood. Sweat.Tears. For centuries, I've dreamed about becoming more than what I am. Doesn't everyone have a dream of becoming more than just the average person? As a kid I drew pictures of what I would do if I had the choice.  I'm 400-years-old and yet I have so many more years ahead of me. I hate... no.. despise never aging. People would easily disagree with me and ask me; "Why do you hate it so much?".  In my lifetime I have seen so many wars and violent acts committed. I've met very important people who I grew to know, but as the years went by they aged and eventually died. As of two years ago, I am the next Alpha. And within that same year my father, Alpha Troph, was diagnosed with lung cancer.  It was hard to hear that from the pack doctor because you think immediately; 'How does this happen to a werewolf?'.  Truth be told, we are just a vulnerable to diseases and sickness as humans.  We maybe different from the average human but half of our DNA is human.  "Alpha Troph, wishes to see you." a voice tells me as I glance up from where I sat patiently in the waiting room.  A beta, Louis Stapplin, stands before me and placed a hand on my shoulder.  He's my father's best friend and right hand man.  Out of all the people in the pack, why did my father have to pick me? I know for a fact that Louis would have made a prestigious Alpha. "How is he?" I asked as I get up from where I sat, Louis looked at the ground before looking me right into my eyes. There was a look I thought I'd never see in his eyes.. scared. Louis has been friends with my father since the very beginning of his reign, and now he has to watch him suffer in pain. "Go, Ash. You father is the bravest and strongest man I've ever known, but I don't know how much longer he's going to hold on." Louis tells me in all honesty.  I quickly made my way to my father's room and opened his door.  The look in his eyes and on his face told me that it was time. "..Ashton." He says breathlessly.  I felt the tears burning in my eyes. We never really saw eye to eye and till this day we do not, but he's all I have.  My mother passed away after the birth of my sister, but once my sister had learned the truth about her death.  She went mentally insane. Just leaving my father and I to rebuild our family name. "I'm here." I whispered lowly as I walk over to his bed side and take his cold hand into my warm ones. He lightly chuckled and smiled at me weakly. "I can see them, Ashton. They're smiles are so warm and sincere. They're waiting for me." Father tells me as he squeezed my hand and looked up at the ceiling lights in his room. For almost 100 years now, he has been the only person I've had and now he's slowly slipping away from me. "You can't leave me here to lead this pack, father!" I exclaimed with tears running down my cheeks and on to the bed that he laid in. He's fought in so many wars and won all of them, so it's hard for me to believe that this is... his losing battle. "Honor those who you live beside than the ones who came before" Father replied to me as he placed his hand on my chest.  Once the last word came out of his mouth his hand on my chest became weak and feell on the bed with a soft thud. The heart monitors next to his bed rang out in the room. No one came in the room. It was just silence besides the haunting ringing of the heart monitors saying 'no rhythm detected'.  I sat there staring... trying to come to grips with what just happened within 1 minute.  After what felt like hours of me just sitting there staring. The pack doctor came in and turned off the heart monitor before lowing his head and saying. "Time of Death, 16:54."
