Eallair MacCravin is the werewolf king, his father the full blooded werewolf king before him. Eallair swore on his father's deathbed to kill the vampire who had chased his mother forever into the shadows and the one who killed his father. Kidnapping the vampire princess, he plans to use her as leverage. He will trade her for the one who killed his father and attacked his mother as well as to create a peace between the two kinds and end the century old fighting.

Catriona MacKeller, the raven-haired vampire princess, welcomes her captor as a sort of challenge. She will show him that even though she is only half vampire, half mortal, she can work the magic and ferocity of both sides.

Will this dark princess weave a spell around the werewolf king, or will he be able to resist the silvery moon color of her eyes?

Chapter One: Destination
Eallair's P.O.V I watched as mist rose from the hills around me. The moon was casting shadows through the trees, shadows I could easily hide him. In but an hour my prey would be moving about the night, looking for its own kill. True, I wasn't going to kill what I captured, but I was hunting in the same stealthy manner. I would avenge my father and mother, and tonight would mark the beginning of it all. Down in the nearly constant shaded valley, the castle loomed in front of me. Torches were lit aong one side and the sun had just gone down. The great doors would open and spell the castles inhabitants out in but a few moments. I could feel my body feel with anticipation. Catriona's P.O.V. I slipped through the halls on silent feet, using the shadows to my advantage. Even though vampires could see in the dark, they wouldn't be looking in the shadows of their own castle. I slipped down another Hall and came to a heavy wooden door. Holding my breath, I listened intently. Hearing nothing I gently pulled open the door silently thanking it for not squeaking. Pulling the door shut behind me I embraced the dark. There was just enough moonlight coming through the cave entrance below for my weak vampire abilities to pick it up. I quickly fled down the steps. I wished I didn't have to sneak out at night; I desperately wished I could go out with the rest of the vampires who lived here, but father was too worried about me. Just because I was half mortal didn't mean anything. I still had all the same abilities as the rest of the vampires. I was fast, strong, could see in the dark with the tiniest amount of light, and could hear almost anything when I concentrated. My abilities were just not as strong as a normal vampire. Once I was at the entrance of the cave connecting to the underground tunnel, I pulled up the hood of my cloak. Looking around, I decided the best thing I could do was dash into the woods before anyone could see me. Taking a deep breath, I made a run for it. The trees were surrounding me in seconds and I came to a stop, not even breathing heavy. The excitement had my heart pounding in my ears. Turning around, I glanced back at the castle through the trees. I would be back before my father even knew I was gone. Just as I was about to turn back around, I heard a soft laugh. I put my back to a tree and surveyed my surroundings. A very tall, very broad man walked out from behind a tree. "Good evening. You really do make it too easy for me." I drew myself up to my fall height. "Excuse me?" I retorted in a tight voice. "You come Into the woods all by yourself, and run right past me, I didn't even have to chase you down." He began edging closer. "Just who do you think you are and what do you want?" "Let's start with one question at a time, shall we? I am Eallair, and you would be?" "I believe I asked what you were doing here?" "It was more along the lines of what do I want. I'm here to kidnap you." He rushed forward to catch me, but I ducked and swerved to the side. With fluid movement, he pushed off the tree with one hand and grabbed hold of me, putting a hand over my mouth. "Now lass, let's not make a ruckus." I bucked in his hold, causing him to move his hand for my mouth to hold on to me. "Let go of me!" I seethed. "Are you going to screem?" "No, I'm going to kill you." "Now lass, do not threaten what you cannot do." He chided. " Let go of me!" I thrashed again and slipped from his hold, only to have him pin me to another tree. "You should never threaten a werewolf lass. It's not a good idea." "And you should never threaten a princess, it's a good way to get killed." I shot back; I would worry about what a werewolf was doing an our territory later. He gave a small disbelieving chuckle. "You are the princess, out all by yourself?" "Yes, you don't think I can take care of myself?" I went to bash my forehead into his face, only to have his mass of hand stopped me. " You should be afraid lass," he breathed in my ear, "yet I do not smell fear on you." I hissed and tried to shove him off of me. "I'm not afraid of you, mutt." "I'm thinking I should tell you exactly who I am, And you should tell me exactly who you are. I am Eallair MacCravin, king of the werewolves, and you are princess...?" "Catriona MacKeller, the vampire who is going to kill a king." I tried to bite him, but only succeeded in scraping my fangs across the skin of his hand. "What a pretty little set of teeth, want to see mine?" He gave me a full grin, showing me he had fangs, just the same as mine. "I thought warewolves only got fangs when they changed." I was oddly fascinated as I relaxed myself against the. I would trick him into thinking I was distracted, and then once he led up his hold, I would slip away. His smile grew, "that is where I am special lass; I am only half werewolf. I have these pretty little things all the time. You see, my mother is a vampire." Now I was surprised. I c***ed my head to the side and leaned forward just a fraction, getting close to his face. "Part vampire that's interesting indeed. You are like me in being only part, I'm half human." I arched my body forward into his. "I wouldn't try any vampire tricks on me, your charm will not work." "What tricks?" I purred and glanced at his mouth. "Your atempt at seduction, it's not working." I slammed back against the tree. "Let me go, Eallair. You have no reason to torment me." "That is where you are wrong. You are the king's daughter, and if you are not, you are dressed well enough to get the king's attention when you go missing." "So you are going to use me against my dad?" "Yes, I want peace between our kinds. I also want him to hand over the b*****d that attacked my mother and killed my father." "He will never agree to that." My father would never hand over a vampire to a werewolf. "Yes, I think he will. I'm getting tired of this, it's time to go before we are discovered." He pulled a length of rope out and tied my wrist in lightning speed. The next thing I knew, he had thrown me over his shoulder, and we were rushing through the trees so fast I couldn't have screamed if I'd wanted to. He stopped just before dawn and sat me on my feet. "There is a cave of a head it should block you from the sun." He grabbed hold of my arm and began to lead me through the trees. I decided I wasn't going to hide from the sun and dropped to the ground. "What on Earth is wrong with you?" He pulled me up. "Do you want to burn to death?" "I won't. Have you noticed I have darker skin than other vampires? I'm half remember?" He stopped and looked at me pushing back my hood. " You are not trying to kill yourself, are you." He asked with narrowed eyes. I rolled my eyes. "Can you handle the sun?" " Yes, but I am part wearwolf." "As long as we are in the trees, I will be fine.I can only handle direct sunlight for a few minutes, but I can handle it." "There is a clearing we will need to cross; can you handle that?" "I should, I'll tell you if I can't. I want to be alive to kill you after all." "That's comforting." He took a hold of my arm and began leading me through the trees again. After a while, he stopped at the edge of the clearing he had mentioned, and looked at me. "Are you sure you can handle this much sunlight?" I looked at the clearing, and then up at the sun, before smiling. " My dad doesn't let me outside that often. The Sun is so beautiful and warm." With that I began walking into the clearing. Halfway across, I began getting tired, and glanced at the sun. "Are you okay?" He glanced at me and picked up the pace. "I'm getting tired, that's what happens. I can walk the rest to the field without a problem." "You're not even going to try to run, are you?" He asked in bewilderment. I shook my head. " I do not know where I am, and honestly, I'm enjoying the small freedoms of being kidnapped." I said with an ironic smile. He gave a short laugh. "And just what are those freedoms?" "I am outside and you are not telling me to put my hood up or get out of the sun." Eallair's P.O.V. I laughed again. "You certainly are a strange lass." "I might as well make the most of what time I have. You are doing me a small favour, you know." "Really, and what is that?" "The longer you keep me, the less time I have to spend with Matthew." "Who is Mathew?" She frowned and glanced at me from the corner of her eye. "My father's adviser, and my soon to be husband." "You do not like him?" "I like you more than him, and you kidnapped me." "Is he ugly then?" "Oh no, he is very handsome.I just do not like the way he makes me feel." She admitted with a sour look on her face. I smiled. " How does he make you feel, lass?" "Slimy, trapped, and cold." "And you do not feel trapped with me?" "Somewhat but in a different way. You are not smothering. You're aggravating but you're a werewolf." He said as if it explained everything. "And what is wrong with werewolves?" "You are uncivilised; it's the dog in you." "Really, and I've been uncivilised to you?" She thought for a moment. "You kidnapped me, that's not very civilised." "I've not done anything brutal to you, most kidnapper would." "Yes, this is true." We were in the shade of the trees again, but she was still walking slowly. "Are you sure you will be fine?" She smiled at me. "You really do not want me to die. I guess that would ruin things for you though. I will be fine, give me a few moments." I shook my head. She was very odd, not complaining, or trying to escape. "You really do not mind being kidnapped, do you?" "I do, I just see no point in fighting at the moment, I'm too tired." She glanced at me, and I noticed her silvery eyes for the first time. They were the same silvery moon colour as her cloak. I truly looked at her face now, noticing that it was a small heart shape, framed by feathery raven hair. She glanced at me again. "What are you looking at?" "I just noticed the colour of your eyes, it's very odd." Her features hardened. "Now you are being rude." "I do not mean to be, lass. I did not say it was a bad thing; they're very beautiful, just odd." "I wish you would stop talking to me now." "Ah, but lass, if we talk, you can tell me about your castle, it's quite beautiful." "I am not that stupid; you are trying to learn things about my castle so that you can get into it." "You are a smarter lass than I give you credit for." "How long until we reach our home?" "My castle is three days from you if you travel all day and most of the night. If you travel just at night, it's a week." "How big is your castle?" "Very big. I have guards at every side." "So it's secure?" "Yes, you will not be able to escape." "That's not why I was asking." "Then why are you asking? You think your dad will be able to get into my castle?" "Yes, one way or another, he will get into your castle, and kill you." "I think you are wrong, lass. Once he knows I have you, he will agree to whatever I say to keep you safe." "How do you know that he cares that much for me?" "You are his only child, from what I gather." "How do you know he will not just agree to things to get me back, and then once I am safe, change his mind?" "I'll have to think on that. Perhaps I should keep you as a permanent hostage, to ensure his good behaviour." "He will not go along with that. The moment he finds out you have me he will be knocking at your castle doors." "He will have to knock at night; my castle is set on a hill, in full sunlight." She shrugged. "I will find a way out to him and lead him into your castle to kill you." "You talk of this so calmly, like it could actually happen." "You are just a bunch of stupid mutts; I do not think it will be that hard to defeat you." "Lass, I must warn you now, you cannot talk that way in front of the rest of my pack, they will not take kindly to it." "I will take my chances." We fell into silence for the rest of the day. I noticed that she began walking slower and swerving some and realized she must have been tired, because it was night. "We will stop here for the night." I led her to a cave hidden behind some trees and bushes. Once inside, she sat down on a rock and looked around the space. "There is nothing to sleep on other than that pallet there. I used this cave on my way through." She looked at the palate I had pointed out then at me. "Where are you going to sleep?" "I do not need sleep, lie down and get your rest, morning will come early." I walked over to her and took off the rope I had bound her wrist with. "You will sleep better without that." She eyed me wearily. "Thank you." I nodded and walked to the front of the cave. I heard her get up and lie down on the palate. I sat down with my back brace against the wall of the cave and relaxed once her breathing was it even. Catriona's P.O.V. I had lain there for over an hour pretending to sleep before I finally decided to open my eyes. Eallair was fast asleep against the wall. I got up as silently as possible and made my way to the entrance, stopping just before I would have stepped out to look at Eallair. He was massive and would have been over 6' when standing. He had shaggy strawberry blonde hair down to his shoulders like most highlanders. His jaw was squared with perfectly defined cheekbones. My captor was indeed a very handsome man. I closed my eyes and took a step out of the cave. "You had best be going to relieve yourself lass. I am not in the mood to chase you down." I jumped at his words. "I thought you were asleep." "No, just relaxing." He opened his eyes and looked me up-and-down. "You're sent." He smiled. "You forgot I'm a werewolf." I rolled my eyes. "If you do not mind, I would like to relieve myself." "You have two minutes to get back here before I come looking for you." I hurried out of the cave. Drat the man, I was going to attempt to find my way back home, but not now. There was no way I was going to get far enough in two minutes, especially when I did have to go. I was making my way back to the cave when Eallair stepped out in front of me. He crossed his arms and looked at me. "Don't look at me like that, I was on my way back." "Are you leaving going to sleep, or were you just hoping I would let my guard down, and you could escape?" "I do not even know where I am!" "That is not the question I asked you, lass." I rolled my eyes."Yes, I am going to sleep." He nodded his head, then stepped aside. "Bloody mutt," I'm mumbled as I walked by him and back into the cave. I curled up on the pallet and closed my eyes. I was tired, I just wasn't sure I would be able to sleep in this situation. I wanted to escape. A warm, heavy hand settled on my shoulder and gently shook me. "Wake up, Catriona, it's time we move." I waved at the hand, not really realising where I was until I rolled over and off of the small palate. Eallair gave a soft chuckle. "Bloody hell, do you have no manners?" I snapped as I jumped to my feet. "You did not laugh at a princess, ever!" I glared at him. He shook his head, "it's daylight let's go." I glanced at the entrance to the cave. "There is not very much light to the sky." Crossing my arms, I glared at him once more. "The sun is rising, it's time to go, do not make me carry you." "Fine, you bloody huge mutt." I stepped over the palate and proceed Ed to walk to the cave entrance. He grabbed my arm and pulled me around to face him. "You need to stop, lass, before I get tired of your insults." I sighed, "do you really think I care? You are a mongrel, I'm a vampire, that is all there is to it." "I'm a werewolf and you do not see me calling you a leech." He gritted out. I shrugged out of his hold. "Werewolf, mut, mongrel it's all the same to me." He narrowed his eyes, "lass, you had best listen to me." "I thought you wanted to get going, not lecture me." He sighed and pulled me out of the cave, "you are very odd last I do not understand you." "It's not for you to understand, I'm your captive, nothing more." "And yet you continue to point out that you are a princess." "And you continue to point out that you are a bloody werewolf." "You do not seem to understand what that means." "And you understand what a princess is?" "Yes, my captive." "Yes, but still a princess." "So you keep saying." I glanced around, looking for a way to get away from him. I gave an inward sigh when there was none. "It will take a lot longer than three days to get to the castle at this rate, can you run a ways?" I looked at him for a moment before at sunk in. "Yes, I am a vampire, and therefore very fast, do you think you can keep up?" I asked with a raised brow. "Lass, do you forget so easily? I am part vampire as well." He pulled out a rope. "I'm going to tie us together, that way I do not lose you. You will have three feet of slack from me, you had best keep up." I glared at him as he tied the rope around my waist and then around his own. He smiled at me and started running, pulling me into motion. We were not going as fast as the night he had captured me, but we were still going too fast for me to untie the rope. I was surprised at how long we kept up the pace, tied together as we were. It was a few hours before we finally stopped. I was thankful we had stopped by a creek, since I was thirsty. My stomach let out a loud growl and he turned to look at me. "You will have to feed off of an animal if you need blood,I will not let you bite a person." "I do not need to feed, I need to eat." "I didn't think vampires ate." "They do not, I do; half, remember?" I rolled my eyes. "Do you still need blood, or can you eat meat that is still bloody?" "How did you know that?" He smiled.. "Half, remember? Can you eat fish, or do you need something else?" "I can eat fish, I had bloody meat before you kidnapped me." "How long can you go without?" "About three or four days, you should give me something when we reach your castle." He untied the rope from his waist and tied it to a tree. "Are you serious? I will not run away when you are catching a fish, let along the fact that I can untie that!" I know you can and I know you will not but it's best to be safe." He walked over to the creek and squatted down. "What are you doing?" "Shh. I'm going to catch us something to eat." I crossed my arms and watched him. It was only a few seconds before he dove into the creek. My mouth dropped in surprise just before he surfaced with two fish. He smiled at me and walked out of the creek. "It is a bloody handy thing to be a werewolf." "Bloody hell! You are a bar barian!" He laughed. "It will be a moment before I get a fire going in the fish cooked." Eallair's P.O.V. It was noon before we came with inside of my castle. Catriona was still tied to my waist when we walked up to the doors. Alex leaned over the top wall. "Cousin, I thought you were going to get a vampire not a bonnie lass on a rope." "I'll have you know I am a vampire the princess to be exact and I am hungry so let us in," Catriona said before I could respond. I shot a glance at her is Alex began to laugh. "We are both hungry cousin you at best let us in." "As you wish, my king." Alex said through his laughing and gave the signal to open the gates. "You'll not speak like that to Alex, he is my cousin, you will show him respect." "I just informed him that I was indeed a vampire. Did you wish me to let him believe you had failed?" I sighed and shook my head. "A very bonnie lass." Alex said as he dropped up to us. He gave a small bow. "Such a pleasure, princess, but if you do not mind me asking, how do you walk in the sun?" "The same way he does, I'm only half vampire. My mother was mortal until I was born, it was only after she had me that my father changed her." "How interesting. Do you still need blood?" "Alex." I drew his attention away from Catriona. "She will tell you everything when we eat, but now, I think it's time we go inside. I would like to change out of my travelling clothes." "I don't suppose you have anything for a princess to wear?" Catriona said as I untied her waist. "Yes, I think I do Alex will you see to it?" "Yes, I'll find something just as bonnie as she is." Alex kissed her hand and hurried away. She shook out her hand and looked at me. "He is your cousin, and you think I am odd?" "He is not my captive. Come I'll show you where you'll be staying." "Am I too assume you have some dark cage prepared for me below the castle?" "Actually, I had a very nice room prepared below the castle, but in light of your ability to withstand sunlight, I will give you the tower room. It's the highest room in the entire castle and locks from the outside." She rolled her eyes, "you are going to lock me in a room when I just travelled three days without trying to escape?" "I cannot have you trying to kill me in my sleep, lass; there are too many ways for you to get a dagger here." I winked at her and led her into the castle. I had a maid head to the tower with us to prepare it for her while we ate. Alex caught up with me just before I reached my room, a young maiden toe with a dark blue gown. "Did you still put her in the Room below the castle?" "No, she is in the tower; take the gown to her and be sure she does not get out of that room until I come for her." "You put her there already?" "Yes, she is to wash up before she changes." Alex followed me into my room. "Are you sure she is a vampire?" "Yes, she tried to bite me." I showed him the back of my hand. "She also hissed like no mortal can hiss, and ran faster than no mortal can run." "She wasn't putting up very much of a fight." "Yes, she stopped fighting after the first night. She didn't know where she was and said I was doing her a favour." "How so?" "She is to be married and does not wish to marry the man. The longer I keep her prisoner, the longer she is away from him." He shook his head. "She's not even afraid to be in the midst of a castle field with werewolves." "She was not afraid when I captured her, and told her who I was, and what I wanted, either." "Then she is a sturdy lass." "She's a very odd lass. She has done nothing but insult me. She says I do not treat her like a princess. I did not even find her but for her the first day." "I noticed that her wrist were not tied. She's not even tried to fight you?" "No. I've not let my guard down though." "That's wise, she may be waiting for her chance to get away." "Or to kill me." "You think she will try?" "She threatened it enough, and she is a vampire." "Yes, but only half, and all alone in the middle of all of us warewolves." "I don't think that will stop her, she does not care that I am a werewolf, and she has been trying to anger me, I think." "You think?" "She has been calling me I mutt and a mongrel, and when I told her it was not wise, she told me it made no difference to her that I was a werewolf." "The lass is bluffing you." "We will see." I splashed some water on my face and walked out of my room. My clothes changed, I felt much better. Alex followed me to the tower room. I knocked on the door and waited for an answer. "You can wait I am not dressed." She hissed through the door. Alex snickered beside me. "She has a fiery lass." "Indeed." I glanced at him and crossed my arms. "Did you tell anyone to prepare the meals?" "You are in time for the noon feast; I did not need to tell anyone anything but to wait." "Good, thank you Alex." "It's good she's the princess, that will get the vampire king's attention." "Yes, that's what I was thinking. I'm thinking I should let him sweat a few days to really get his attention." "Yes, he will be angry no matter what he might as well get him good and worked up." The door suddenly opened. "What are the two of you talking about?" Catriona stood in the doorway in the deep blue gown Alex had sent for her. It was snug in its fit, nearly perfect if it were not so long. A black strip started at the waist and ran down to the floor in the centre. She was stunning. "Ah, lass; ye are a vision in that gown." "Thank you, but that's not what I asked." "We were discussing your being here, if you must know. Now come, before we have a castle full of hungry warewolves." I offered her my arm and she slimply glared at me. I rolled my eyes and turned away from her. "Why is it that you think I'm going to be nice when you have kidnapped me?" I stopped and looked at her. "You are the one that keeps telling me you are a princess and should be treated as such I was simply being polite."
