THE LIGHTNING
Scene 2: The unknown woman who fell in the forest clearing wakes up on a confused hospital stretcher, not remembering much more than her name. When interrogated by the beta, gamma, and pack doctor, she says her name is Kendra, but can't remember why she stopped naked and unconscious in the middle of the forest, so the ranked members decide they need to investigate further your past to know if the mysterious woman is a friend or a foe. Scene 3: Finally Alpha Axel and Kendra meet again and are attracted to each other as Napoleon frets over Axel, as does Athena, Kendra's wolf, saying she is Axel's mate, although Kendra has no idea of who's the voice that speaks to her in her head and what it's like to be someone's mate. Axel considers rejecting Kendra because of her unknown origin, although he resolves not to do so before the pack concludes as to who the mystery woman is and where she came from. **************************************************************************************************** Axel’s POV: It was another ordinary day in the Crescent pack when I, alpha Axel Wyatt, decided to go on patrol with my beta and gamma. I had received my father's alpha title a couple of years ago at a ceremony with all the pack alphas in the region. At the time I could see that I was the only alpha who didn't have a mate, and that worried me a little, but my dad and a few other alphas told me that I was still young and that I would eventually find my mate. A few years passed, but I still hadn't found my intended one. I was still considered young, but when I saw that other wolves my age were meeting and marrying their mates, I started to worry even more. Even my younger brother James had found his mate, or rather his life partner: a little witch from a coven called Silver Lake. As soon as they mated, he left our pack to join her and her coven. Lucky for me, this coven wasn't too far away. because he was one of my best friends besides my beta and my gamma, and I didn't want to be far from my extended family. But now it was official: I was the only single in my group of closest friends. Was there something wrong with me? I asked myself anxiously. Normally those responsible for making the rounds were our patrolling warriors, who were all omegas and consequently had no pack ranking, but on that particular day, Napoleon my wolf was restless and was saying all the time in my head that I should make this round. He hadn't been quiet for a minute since noon, so I decided to do what he wanted for a change, so maybe he'd settle down. As normally the alpha never goes around alone, I had recruited Jackson, my Beta, and Christian, my Gamma, to go with me. "Really, man? We have highly trained warriors to make the rounds," Jackson had complained. "I mean it, bro," I replied to him and then explained, "That's Napoleon's thing. He feels like I should be there in the afternoon." Jackson and Christian shrugged their shoulders and, at first, they didn't like to leave their daily chores to accompany me, but after all, I was the leader, and my word in the entire pack was the law. Not that I used it to my advantage, but when I needed to put my foot down, I did it without hesitation. Our pack was located in the heart of the Narrow Woods forest that surrounded us, giving our pack protection and shelter, so we were always protected from the prying eyes of humans and had an advantage over the territory. We had been in that place for centuries and knew all the secrets like the back of our hands. It was a good place to live and where a werewolf could really be a werewolf without having to hide or pretend to be someone else. We were in the eastern section of patrol and it felt great to let Napoleon be in control. A wolf needed to be outdoors whenever he could and my human part felt completely comfortable letting him take over. From the first day he woke up, or as I used to say, he popped into my head, we were as one sharing the same bodies. Napoleon was also close friends with Maddox and Felix, respectively, the wolves of Jackson and Christian. There was a rapport between the three wolves that could only be explained by instinct, and that friendship between them helped to strengthen even our bonds as humans. There was no need for words and even communication through minds was sometimes not even necessary between the three of us. Our wolves were truly a triad and functioned like a well-oiled cog. I could feel the wind beating against Napoleon's soft fur, the feeling of freedom to run at full speed. If I stuck my tongue out, I could feel the moisture in the air and every taste of the forest. The smell of wet earth near the rivers was familiar and as appreciated as the smell of coffee upon waking up in the morning. If I strained my ears, I could hear the rustle of birds' wings, the noise of nearby beehives, or the footsteps of servants running far away from me. I didn't like it much when Napoleon went hunting because his favorite dish was raw venison, but sometimes it was necessary. It was part of his instincts, and since he respected my preferences, I respected his too. Everything went fine and everything felt normal like any other day and I honestly didn't understand why Napoleon had insisted so much on being in the woods that afternoon. I was getting tired and frustrated and was even planning on fighting my wolf when we got back home because of not understanding why he had pushed me so hard to go on a patrol and check the perimeter of our lands, when we suddenly saw a ray in the distance and after that lightning, there was an unusual crash, not like thunder in heavy rain in the forest but like a real explosion. This was really unusual, and I started to wonder if this was what Napoleon wanted me to see. I didn't need to look around to know that Maddox and Felix had heard and seen what I had just witnessed through Napoleon's eyes, and I also didn't need to command anyone to go out of their way with me to verify what had happened. In less than a second, the three wolves were galloping towards the spot where we saw the lightning. A few minutes later, we arrived at what seemed to be that place where the lightning had struck and the explosion had happened, and truly the explosion had been powerful because I knew that place, and I knew there were dense woods there, but at that moment all that piece in the forest had the trees uprooted and there were several trunks fallen on the ground blackened by the burns of that lightning. The explosion opened a clearing of considerable proportions there, but that wasn't all. The weirdest part was that right in the center of that clearing was a small woman completely naked and unconscious. Her features were delicate and her brown hair was short. "Oh, s**t! What do you think happened to her?" Maddox asked in my head, but none of us really knew, so we just shook our wolf heads. "I don't know, bro, but it doesn't feel good to me. You know how I fear strangers, and even more mysterious women who show up naked in forests," Felix reverberated in everyone's heads. "And how many naked and unconscious women have you found in the middle of the forest, man?" Maddox asked him back in an amused tone. "Okay, you two, stop speculating. Let's take a closer look," I told them in order to keep focused, and the two wolves nodded promptly. We approached cautiously to inspect the site, being careful as if it was a trap, then suddenly a gentle breeze blew against us from the mysterious woman's direction and I caught her delicious scent of strawberries, honey, and vanilla for the first time. Napoleon straightened and began to spin and howl in the forest. "Dude, what is this?" Felix asked curiously. "You will end up waking the woman!" He warned me. I also asked myself the same question: "Hey, furball, what's this all about? Why are you so excited, man?" Napoleon responded with just one word, not only to me but to Maddox and Felix, who had curious looks on their faces: "Mate!" “Oh, s**t!” Maddox voiced what we were all thinking. Finally, the day to meet my mate had arrived. But who the hell was this woman?
