Chapter One The Night Watch pack settled in Talon, Oregon and survived on farming, building, and fishing. As time went on, other people took their land. The pack was too small to protect themselves and their land, so they left. They found a small island right outside of the mainland to wait until they were able to defend themselves. In order to protect themselves in their new land, the leader of the pack used magic in their blood. He was the first leader to ever be able to shapeshift. He and all of the men left the island in wolf form using the original power of Night Watch Astral Projection, leaving their women and children behind. They did not want to actually hurt the enemy, just force them to do what they wanted. They would invade villages in their new form, tear down buildings, and have other animals work with them. Shapeshifting into wolves kept the hierarchy of the tribe. There was the Alpha, the chief, who had originally taken the magic in their blood and gave them the ability to shapeshift. In wolf form, he was bigger than the others, and he led the pack into setting their mainland free from the villagers. They could speak through their minds, communicating with each other and taking orders. Eventually, the survivors of the torment fled the mainland and the mainland was left for the Night Watch Pack to take over. They shifted back to their human form, got their families, and eventually turned the mainland into a home. They expanded their pack, protected their land, and never let another human come after them again. They were able to be with their mates, their soulmates without a worry.
