Chapter 1: Wake Up Princess
I had a very rough day yesterday and the fact that someone is knocking on my door at this hour is making me furious. I groaned as I stood up to see whoever was outside my room. I looked at my phone and realized that it’s five in the afternoon already. I opened the door and was ready to shout at whoever was disturbing my peaceful sleep. “I knew it! You still haven’t showered and you’re locking yourself in your room.” Marga said. She is my super annoying best friend but I love her to bits so I wouldn’t dare shout at her. “I told the maids not to let someone in.” I said rolling my eyes at her. “Well, I am not just someone, Cas.” She said with all boastfulness. She has become a close family friend and is always allowed to go in and out of our house. “Yeah, right. What do you want?” I asked her. “I want you to get out of your bed and shower. We will party tonight. I heard of this newly opened club in the city.” She said sounding so excited. “No, thank you. I don’t want to party Marga.” I said. “Oh, yes you will. You’re ex, Miko will be there because I saw his post on one of his social media accounts. He’s going there tonight. Show him what he lost when he cheated on you.” She said. “I don’t want to do that. I don’t feel like I’m ready to face him and besides I have a lot of work to do.” I said with all honesty. Since we broke up, I haven’t seen him and I feel like I don’t want to see him either. “Don’t worry. I’ll be there. Don’t you think it’s time for you to go out and not just lock yourself in here? You completely forgot how to live a normal life.” She said. She really is exaggerating things. “Well, as much as I would like to stay here, I know you won’t stop bugging me so I’ll go.” I said. “Besides I’m so bored in here. I’ve been eating, sleeping and surfing the internet the whole weekend.” “You just made the right choice, Cassandra.” She said as she clapped her hands as if she won the lottery. She definitely forced me to get up and took a shower. I don’t know why she’s so eager it’s still early. We looked through my closet and she wasn’t contended with what I chose so she said she’ll choose for me instead. “That red dress is definitely made for you! Look at how it fits you.” She said as she looked at the dress I was wearing. “Don’t you think is a little too revealing? I mean look at how my back is exposed.” I said. “No. It shows how sexy your back is. You must flaunt it. You are drop dead gorgeous.” She said. “Thank you. And by the way, black suits you well too.” I told her as she finished dressing up. “I think we’re ready to go. Shall we use your car or mine?” she asked. “Let’s just use yours. I’m not in the mood to do the driving.” I told her. Just a few touches and we were good to go. We used Marga’s car and headed to the club. While on the way there, I couldn’t help but notice how nice the city lights are. Just a few minutes after, we arrived at the club. This club is really nice and big even when we were still outside, the lights are visible. “Let’s get in. The party is about to start. I don’t want to miss out on all the fun.” Marga said and I laughed at her eagerness. We went inside and chose to sit at the corner seats. Marga ordered drinks for us. I was scanning the people in the club looking for my cheater ex-boyfriend. It wasn’t hard to find him. He was surrounded by bitches willing to be his prey. I didn’t know why I stayed with him for six months. Marga always told me to break up with him since he’s a playboy and a cheater but I gave him so many chances because I really love him and I wanted us to work. However, right now I can think clearly and thank myself that I didn’t tolerate him anymore. “Don’t mind your ex, Cass. He’s nothing but a cheater. He’s not even that handsome.” she said. “Of course. Tonight I realized that I have moved on already. After seeing him, I don’t feel anything for him at all.”I said confidently. “That’s good to hear.” She said as she stood up. “We should dance to celebrate you moving on.” “We should.” I stood up and we both walked to the dance floor. Marga and I both love to party. However, we always make sure that we don’t drink too much to ensure our safety. That’s the good thing about being with your friend. I was dancing my heart out when I felt someone dancing behind me. He was too close that I could even feel his breathe in my neck. I turned around and saw that it was my ex-boyfriend Miko. I stopped dancing and was about to get out of the dance floor when he pulled me closer to him. “Let me go. How dare you!” I said while trying to free myself from him. “I know you still like me Cass. Stop fighting and be still.” He said. I struggled to free myself but I couldn’t match his force. That was until someone from behind me spoke. His voice can be heard clearly even with the loud music in the dance floor. “Let her go dude. She doesn’t want you holding her like that.” The mysterious man said. “Stay out of this dude. This is between me and my girlfriend.” My ex said which made me angry. “You are not my boyfriend. Let me go!” I said. “Let her go or else I’ll have no choice but to call for the security.” The man said. “Call them, then. I am a regular costumer here. I’m sure they won’t kick me out. Maybe they’ll kick YOU out instead.” My ex said. “I’m asking you one more time to let her go.” The man said. “And if I won’t?” my ex retaliated. “Then, I’ll have no choice but to kick you out.” The mysterious man said with authority. He raised his hand and then two bouncers came right at us. “I want you to get this man out of here.” The mysterious guy told the bouncers. “You can’t do that!” my ex shouted. “I am your regular high class costumer.” He looked at the mysterious guy. “You can’t kick me out.” “Yes, I can. I own this place and we don’t need disrespectful costumers like you. Get him out of here.” The mysterious guy said. The bouncers took my ex-boyfriend out leaving me with the mysterious guy. “Thank you for saving me from him.” I told him. “You’re welcome, Miss. I’m glad to be of helped.” He said. Now that I can somehow see his face in front of me, I can see how handsome he is. He has this perfect face, nose and lips. He’s kind and very gentleman. “By the way, I’m Kyle.” He said as he offered his hand. “I’m Cassandra. But you can call me Cassy.” I said “Cassy!” I almost forgot that I came here with Marga not until I heard her panicking voice. “I heard there was a commotion in here. Are you okay?” “I’m fine. Where have you been?” I asked her. “I went to the rest room.” She said. “By the way Marga, This is Kyle. Kyle, this is my best friend Marga. Kyle owns the place” I said. “Nice to meet you.” Kyle told Marga. “Nice to meet you too.” She replied. “Do you mind if I leave my best friend to you? You two seemed to be in a deep conversation when I came.” “No, I don’t mind at all.” Kyle said. “Okay, then.” Marga said as she walked towards the bar. I know she’s trying to hook me up with Kyle. “So, he was your ex-boyfriend?” Kyle asked me out of nowhere. We went to a more quiet part of the club to talk and just chill. “Yes, he is. We broke up because he cheated on me.” I said. “Oh, that’s too bad. Who would cheat on a beautiful girl like you?” he said. “You are making fun of me.” I said. “No, you really are beautiful. I wonder how your ex cheated on you.” He said. “I wonder too. I wonder how people so dear to you would choose to hurt you so bad.” I said as I was getting too emotional. “You know what? People like your ex aren’t worth your time.” He said. “I guess so.” I said. Talking to Kyle in this club was something I didn’t expect to happen tonight. I find him so comforting that even if I just met him I felt like I’ve known him for so long already. Maybe, it’s because he is kind that he know the right words to say to me right now. “So, you own this entire place?” I asked him changing the topic to a lighter part. “Yes, I do.” He said. “I like handling business because it gives me freedom and income as well. I am the boss of my own self and I hold my time. What about you? What do you do?” he asked me. I couldn’t tell him that we also own businesses and that my parents are businessmen. I don’t want him to judge me as a rich spoiled girl because that’s what everybody thinks of me when they know our real status. Instead, I told him my real job. At least I’m not lying to him. “I also like business. I took up a business course in college and right now I am a manager of a hotel.” I said. That was true though, I am a manager at one of our hotels. That’s what I like to do and my parents didn’t argue with me even if they want to give me a much higher position. I want a simple life and a simple job. “That’s great.” He said. “You must be hardworking that’s why you got that job. That’s a very nice work.” “I just do whatever my work asks of me. I’m not really that hardworking but I try to do my best in everything.” I said. “That’s a really amazing mindset. It just shows how much you value your work.” He said. “Yes I do value my work it’s what keeps me going and the reason why I wake up every morning of my life.” I said. “Wow your company is very lucky to have an employee like you.” He said. “I hope so. I want to be the best manager they could ever have.” I said while laughing slightly. “I guess you are already.” He said. I was about to say something when I felt my phone vibrated. I took it out of my bag and answered Marga’s call. She said that she’s tired already and she wants to go home. “I’m sorry but I have to go. I didn’t bring my car with me and Marga wants to go home already.” I told Kyle. “It’s okay. I’ll walk you to the parking lot.” He said. We arrived at the parking lot and Marga was already there. “I know this is so unlikely but I want to ask for your phone number. Just in case you know, you come here so I’ll know and you might get into trouble again?” “Of course. Here’s my calling card.” I said as I handed him my card. “Thank you and be safe.” He said. “You too. Thanks for tonight.” I said I went inside Marga’s car with a smile and with a very positive vibe. “That guy is cute.” She said as she drove out of the parking lot. “Yes, he is.” I said. “He was so kind to me tonight.” “You look good together.” She said. “Oh come on. We just met.” I said. “Anything is possible Cass. I saw that he asked for your number which only means that he wants to see you again anytime soon.” She said. “Then, we’ll see each other anytime soon.” I smiled at her.
