The Devil's Rebirth

Emir went to a small town of San Antonio where he used to live with his dying mother Amara. The place only has hundreds of citizens, where farming and raising animals is the main source of living. Like some other places, San Antonio also held a hidden mystery, where rumors said, once you have the mysterious possession you will have the ability to control everything. But some of the local residents didn't believe about it anymore and just take it as an ancient tale since no one has ever proven it yet, Or maybe, the person who has it wants to keep the power for himself. Emir stayed at a small cabin that is away from neighbors. He remembered how his mother spends the rest of her days in the same place. He also remembered how his mother called it paradise. He wants to be alone, as he doesn't have the courage to face everyone after what happened to his beloved wife. _____ His world suddenly stopped revolving after the scene that happened in front of his bare eyes. In the middle of the city, where people are quick pacing left and right and different vehicles came rushing from north and south. Everyone halted, to witness his beautiful angel that had fallen. Her blood is streaming on the ground, from her weak body that is being pounded. He quickly got out of his car and ran towards where his angel hit the ground. "Hope?" He whispered through the thin air, slowly dropping his body to reach her lifeless-like body. He gazes at her body from head to toe and fear overwhelmed him. "Sweetheart? Hope? Wake up." He keeps on calling her name while caressing her face gently with his trembling hands. He suddenly notices a drop of fluid fall on the angel's skin and feels it continuously rolling down on his face. He can't believe that after so many years he will cry again. He is always told as the heartless and arrogant devil, that even his angel used to call him, but now he doesn't know anymore what to call himself. Or maybe he deserved to be called the loser devil and for sure his angel will laugh at him furiously. _____ He slumped his body on a dusty bed inside the cabin and looked up to the ceiling then closed his eyes. He thought of his wife's condition, she has bruises and the wound on her shoulder got worse. The doctor said that she may not be able to walk for months but certain she could after helpful physical therapy. He sighed defeatedly. He sit up, then pulled out his phone and dialed his assistant's number, "Yes Sir?" He answered the call. "How's my wife?" "She's been released from the operating room but still has no conscious, but doctor Jackson said she will be up once the anesthesia subsides." The assistant explains. "Alright, just keep on updating me." "Uh Sir," "What is it?" "Your father-in-law keeps on asking your whereabouts, Sir," "I am paying you to do what I told you to do, or do you want me to replace you? Huh?" And with that Emir ended the call. He went outside the cabin and went to the nearest bar. Inside, an old man is playing a classical piano. You can't see a beautiful woman around drinking or dancing but some folks with the same age as him and some are older, but the place is just perfect for his mood. He ordered drinks and let himself succumb to the spirit of the alcohol while staring at his wife's stolen photo on his phone. His angel is smiling sweetly in the photo looking at her flowers in the garden, sometimes he laughed in silence every time he saw her talking to it like a baby. "Is that your wife?" An old man sitting next to him asked. "Unfortunately, though she is not fit to be a devil's wife." He said and gulped his drink while the old man chuckled. "Why? Is she too kind to be one?" The old man asked. "The opposite, actually. She is very stubborn and rebellious enough to overcome the devil's beast behavior." He said smiling at her photo. "Oh, is that why the devil came out from his inferno and came over to get drunk?" The old man asked and he just chuckled softly. "Do you know about the tale of the mysterious possession of San Antonio?" The old man added. "I heard about it once from my mother, when I was a kid." "From your mother? I see." He said nodding his head while looking at the glass he is holding and continue, "Once upon a time, there was a Goddess, she lived hundreds of thousands of years, she used to be alone and already accepted her fate. Until she met a mortal and fell in love, but as a mortal, he can't live long like the Goddess and die." The old man starts telling a story to him, "The Goddess became miserable and wished to bring back her beloved mortal until a spirit heard her cries and granted her wish and presented a powerful possession that has the ability to bring her back to the past time she desires." "You mean, that this thing can make you time travel?" Emir interrupted him. "Only back in time but not to the future." The old man explained and he chuckled. "That's ridiculous, old man," Emir said unbelievably he even can't believe himself he really did listen to the old man's silly myth story. "But true." He seriously said looking straight into his eyes. Emir stayed in San Antonio for several months, there's a time when he missed his wife so much and wanted to see her personally. He flew back and went to the hospital secretly with the help of his assistant. _____ No one is around her as he already arranged his visit. He doesn't know how to explain to her father if he asks him and so decided to just hide from everyone. He walked slowly closer to her and caressed her soft face, her bruises already healed, even her wound on the shoulder, but except for the fracture on her leg. He stayed beside her just staring at her face for almost two hours, suddenly she whimpered calling his name. He stirred and quickly moved backward, and left. _____ He only called his uncle Ruben to ask a favor to attend to his company while he was away. His assistant also told him about his wife's furies and that she is still asking for him, but he was just afraid to face her yet. Afraid to hear her hatred again and it might be the cause of his death, which he was confidently sure. Every day he receives an update about his wife's progress and he orders him to keep tough security around her especially from the aggressive reporters, he doesn't want her to get stressed while recovering. Until he decided to go back already and embrace his wife tightly.
