Vampires vs Hunters

Being loved and cared by my family is the most fulfilling feelings I have ever felt. Today is one of my memorable day. I am now here in front of everyone, giving my best speech for having the highest grade and the majority of the awards. I am blessed to have intelligent and talented parents. “Thank you, Mom and Dad,” I said. They gave me their tightest hug like there is no tomorrow. I am so happy to have supportive parents. We are rich, but they did not spoil me. They taught me how to be independent at a young age. They still gave the best and fruitful life to me, and one of this is letting me study in one of the top schools in the world. “We are so proud of you, baby. Continue on achieving your goals,” Mom said. “Always follow your heart.” I nodded. I am always following their advice, because they know what is best for me. I suggested to celebrate my graduation just the three of us. We have travelled five countries since it’s one of my goals. I want to explore at least five countries per year. I am fond of knowing the different cultures of people. Looking forlornly, Dad said, “After this long vacation, your Mom and I will go back to the Philippines.” “It is okay, Dad. I will take care of my enrollment,” I proudly said. We took a lot of pictures. We unusually do it. More on special events only. I love taking pictures of sceneries that is why I really love to travel. I only have one photo including myself on every country I visited. This is the first time that I travelled five countries in just 1 month. Few days had passed, here I am, bidding goodbye. I hugged my Mom and Dad. How I wish I can come with them, but I know that they are busy on their business and clan. I am just scared knowing that vampires can people. Bodyguards and few members are always looking after me. “Minlei, take care of yourself,” Mom advised. “Always remind yourself that you have to be independent because we are not always around.” She pinched my cheeks and kissed it. Dad also gave me a kiss on my forehead. This is the first time that I don’t want them to leave me. “Can you cancel the gatherings?” I asked. “I have a bad feeling about that gathering.” “That gathering is so important. We need to discuss our new invention,” Dad explained. “Our goal is to eliminate all the vampires.” “Why do you need to sacrifice your life? Can’t we live peacefully without killing all of them? Are they all bad?” I said, sighing. Killing all the vampires is the Clan’s main goal. They want to achieve a peaceful life for us. It was the vampires’ fault why many innocent people are losing their mind ends up killing their family and people around them. If you got bitten by the vampires, you will become like them. “Peace will never be achieved if we let them live with us,” Dad said. They gave me again their tightest hug. I cried when they disappeared from my sight. My heart is so heavy. I am praying to God that they will go back here safely. I went to their office here in our home, started to search some information to know the weakness of the vampires. Ever since, I really don’t like to be part of the Vampire Hunter Clan. Happy and complete family is all I ever need. If Mom and Dad are really persistent about the Clan’s goal, so will I. Almost five hours here in their office before I finished reading all the papers they have left. I checked my phone and found out that the gathering of the Clan is now on going. They will proudly introduce their new invention and discuss how it will work. My Mom is a doctor and my Dad is a scientist. While Dad is inventing weapons against vampires, Mom is creating a potion that can stop human from becoming a vampire when it got bitten. All I can say is that they are perfect together, and I am proud to be their daughter. Instinct pushed me to turn on our television and switched to the Filipino Channel. The face of my Mom and Dad showed, lying down, full of blood, and lifeless. The whole function hall was destroyed by the vampires. Hysterically, I called my friend to help me book a flight going back to the Philippines today. The tears won’t stop from falling. I lost some part of me. The family I am keeping and treasuring is now gone. Never expected that this will happen to us. All they want is to have a peaceful world, why do we need to suffer like this? “No! Mom, Dad, wake up,” I said helplessly, crying. I hugged them and I don’t care if a lot of people are looking at me right now. I lost my family. My dreams shattered. “What did I do to deserve this?” I asked. “Minlei, let’s go. You need to pick up yourself,” Den said. My friend, Den Mendez, and the clan’s remaining members helped me to manage the funeral of my parents. Sometimes, instinct is right. It is too late to stop my parents to attend the gatherings. I browsed the latest photos we had. My world has turned to darkness when they were gone. Revenge is what I need. Touching the photos, I promised, “Mom, Dad, I will make sure that justice will prevail.” At the young age, 18, the court has issued me the certificate concerning my right of succession. I have decided to manage the Vampire Hunter Clan while my uncle is helping me running our business. I, Shin Minle Young, the leader of the vampire hunters, promise to eliminate all the vampires to achieve the peace we long sought after. I am willing to sacrifice my own life to achieve my parents’ goal, my only goal.
