Me, Him and His Best Friend

Ruby woke up from her bed and her whole body ached but she was still happy, it had been a week of exhausting interviews and rejection after rejection, it was either she was overqualified or she didn't fit in the exact person they wanted. I mean who cared if she was overqualified or not at this point all she wanted to do was get a job and earn some money because time was not a luxury she could afford. She showered and today she was going to experience the adventures of looking for employment. She wore her slim fit trouser and white silky blouse by the way she hated wearing that but she figured she should go for neutral colors instead of being her bold loud self, that would be reserved for when she finally got a job. "You mean there is nothing else you can offer me?" it was near lunch time and this was the third interview for the day and it was already failing because this fat guy apparently couldn't wait for lunch. "I'm sorry mam but we have nothing for you here."  the fat and sweaty man answered and Ruby looked at him and sighed, deep down she wanted to punch the lights out of him  "you mean not even an assistant post?"  she tried to keep her composure as she asked but the sweaty man shook his head.  "hey Mark we leaving now!"  A tall guy stood at Mark's door yelled that they were heading to lunch  "uhh mam I have to leave no-"  before he could finish his sentence Ruby stood up and sighed then she walked out of the office. She was worn out from going to interviews that  yielded no results.  She got herself some tacos from the street stand and went to the park, sat there and ate her taco with few people passing by and some exercising. Her phone started buzzing and she was just answered it carelessly  "Yeah."  she said as she chewed her taco  "Ohh I'm sorry I'm calling for Ms Scotts"  the lady at the end of the line answered  "this is she."  Ruby couldn't care less about etiquette as she stuffed the remaining taco in her mouth. "You have been selected to come for the interview at King Corporation."  as soon as the woman said that Ruby began to choke on her taco. King Corporation was the biggest company that would either invest or buy other businesses which it mostly bought because the man who owned that entire corporation didn't think anyone was better that him when it comes to business, hell he even bought his own step fathers company instead of investing in it.  "Ohh mam when is the interview?"  she asked as she tried to gain her composure from all the choking  "ohh tomorrow at ten am because our boss would like to interview the candidates himself"  the woman explained and  Ruby was caught off guard but at least she gets to meet the young self mad billionaire before she gets rejected again. The following day Ruby woke up a little late since she spent last night drinking herself to sleep, this place was really giving her insomnia but she had to suck it up since this was going to be her life for a couple of years. She was reluctant to go this interview because she knows it will yield another rejection again but she bathed and wore her daily interview clothes and took her bag, skipped breakfast she thought she would have plenty of time to eat after her interview goes south at which that time she will eat to nurse her feelings. She got there in time and was taken through the process and then when she got to the floor of the interview she looked at other candidates they definitely went all out, I mean the way they dressed and their make up was on point and let's not forget that they were all good looking. She definitely wasn't given the dress up memo because even basic wouldn't explain how she looked compared to these other ladies. Another thing was that there were no men who had applied, guess she stood for the male species with her dressing sense and the fact that she looked like she had fought a grim reaper just to make it to this interview. it had been an hour after ten and two hours since she had been here and the interviews had not begun let alone the CEO of this fine establishment had not come to work which had his little assistant coming and asking patience from the candidates. Ruby was ready to wait for the interview but she was hungry and when she gets hungry she gets cranky, annoyed by literally everything especially the ladies that kept glancing at her and whispering things about her she stood up and paced a bi around the area where they were waiting. Five minutes later the assistant came in pushing a cart that had water in in  "uhh ladies how about a drink of water while you wait, our boss will be here soon"  she made the announcement and everyone took the bottle of water.  "Uhh miss what about you?"  the assistant was asking Ruby and she had tried everything to avoid talking but the for some reason she found the voice of the assistant very much annoying at that time  "Do I look like I want bottled water right now?"  Ruby asked the assistant trying to keep the annoyance out of her voice. The assistant looked at Ruby  "I'm sorry mam I don't understand"  that voice again  "of course you don't understand!"  Ruby yelled  "we have been waiting for an hour going on two for your boss and he still hasn't shown!"  when she yelled people looked at her but she didn't care  "You have literally apologized five times in an hour and now your apology comes as a water bottle!?"  she was shocking these people ad as the assistant was about to answer she raised her hand to stop her  "don't even try to explain the situation, I get he is a big CEO but we got other job opportunities to look for and your boss is wasting our time!"  she exclaimed and the assistant looked at her for about a minute, Ruby came down and looked around the room all eyes were on her.  "Any body else feels like this?"  the assistant asked and they all shook their heads while mumbling something about her speaking for herself. The assistant looked at Ruby and she picked up her bag ready to leave but the assistant yelled  "Yhoo Craig we got one!"  and a large, bulky man walked to the area they were sitting at and popped a balloon as the confetti sprinkled all over  "Ohh thank god I thought none of you would actually speak up for themselves"  the assistant took Ruby hand and started shaking it endlessly  "congratulations mam the job is yours!"  she yelled and the assistant joined the Craig in dancing a silly dance. Ruby was shocked and in confusion so was every one else. After a minute or two the assistant stopped dancing and looked at the other candidates  "uh I'm sorry ladies but you can leave now, the position is already filled"  she said as she dragged Ruby out of the area but she turned when they were just leaving  "ohh you guys can keep the water and help yourself to some more" then they left. "Hi, I'm Maddie and I can still see you don't understand what is happening?"  Ruby nodded and Maddie explained. "The interview was never going to happen the boss wanted to see if the applicants understood the importance of time and appointments but none of them seemed to want to leave even if they saw that their time was being wasted."  Ruby nodded as she thought to herself she is as much a fool like those ladies because if she wasn't hungry she would have sat there until they were dismissed. I guess you could say saved by hunger. Of course she was happy she got the job but she was still hungry which means she was still cranky  "ohh and thank god you spoke up because I hated that voice I was using"  Maddie thanked her and  Ruby just faked a smile.  "Okay now that you are hired you can come tomorrow same time and receive everything you're going to need for this job"  Ruby nodded  "and don't worry you will meet the CEO tomorrow"  Maddie added and Ruby nodded as she wasn't even listening. She was still hungry and cranky and don't forget annoyed for the method this company just used to recruit her. They dismissed her and she basically flew out of that place. She found a nearby diner and went in and ordered the biggest meal she could find, she was celebrating and eating at the same time while thanking her hunger for getting her a job today, it definitely wasn't easy. She ate like nobody was watching and filled her stomach and after she had settled her bill and on her way home to rest up for the rest of the day a thought hit her, she was hired but she had no ideas what the job was or what position she had just been hired for was. It drove her mad but she thought to herself she will adapt into whatever she was hired for and she will work hard not to lose her job. She got home and put on some netflix and chilled.
