Everyone is hooked on finding their one mate, the one person who the Moon Goddess said was their completed half. However, not every werewolf has a destined half, and once in a rare moon, two alphas that have been mated produce a special type of werewolf, one that has no mate and no pack.

The Long Walk
I still look rather normal I guessed, some regular humans sometimes called me a witch or a gypsy, but that rarely bothered me. I live alone in a large part of unclaimed woods, as I shuffled around my house, checking which herbs and spices I was missing and made a mental list of them all, some I could find easily around my woods, and others I had to make more of a journey to get. My house looked more like a large cottage, stone walls and fire-lamps for light, I used quills and inks of different colours that I could make myself from various flowers around, everything grows in my forest, untouched by humans. My list was done, I figured I'd get the farthest one out first, a long journey to the very edge of the Silverblood pack. They were a smaller pack that had many fearsome warriors, they had more males than females in that pack, so every few years they would go to a ball of sorts, where the 6 packs that edged my forests would get together and dance, mingle, hopefully find their mates. I sighed thinking, mate... I grabbed my staff at the door and hooded cloak, I liked my staff the most, it was good for meditating, spell-casting, and walking long distances. It was handed down to me by the previous shaman Werewolf shamans are a rare thing indeed, and I wasn't going to make my old master angry by not accepting his staff when he finally decided that I was ready. That seemed so long ago now though, I threw the hood over my head and started walking by the light of the moon. It was winter now and wearing traditional garb seemed better for the colder air. It must have looked like a witch did live there, I know cell phones and electricity exist, but why should I use them for what I need? On that note, why should my wardrobe change either? I was wearing a purple lined black corset, a heavy black petticoat with a purple-laced black skirt and black boots, all I was missing was the black cat. I chuckled to myself werewolf with a pet cat... The journey was long for sure, the pack was on the south edge of my forest, but they have a beautiful lake that has a waterfall from the mountain ridge that starts there. On that lake's edges is where I had to get my first ingredient, The alpha of that pack should remember me decently, the last time I needed to go there was sixteen years ago, but a shaman is hard to forget so everything should be okay. The wind picked up and i smelled the wonderful scents of the forest, and the lake just over this hill. I put my hood down, letting my black hair wave and dance in the wind. I could smell the guardians of the pack border, the sun was coming up now, I made my way through the rest of my forest and onto pack lines. I felt in the air something had changed, I could hear shape-shifting of warriors, but i paid them no mind, I know their alpha and nothing was going to happen. I found the lake and sat on the edge of a rock that just over hung, letting my feet dip into the cool waters. My eyes closed, I could feel them looking at me, but why hasn't the alpha called them off yet? I heard them come closer, so in defense I stood and struck the rock with my staff, putting up a barrier from them. I felt confusion among them, and decided they learned not to come closer, as I let my barrier down, one male, rather good looking, about my height, maybe an inch taller which would put him at six feet tall, strawberry-blonde hair, very well built, smelling him I could tell he was unmated, and strong; but not in a position of strength,  maybe a 3rd or 4th ranked warrior. He was the strongest one out of them all, meaning the alpha and his beta were closer to the pack's little city of sorts. "Who are you?" he asked with a degree of caution. I remained silent, observing him for a moment, seeing if he would attack or if he was just asking for the moment "I am the Shaman of the Werewolves." I replied "Do you think I'm stupid?" he said with a tone of anger. "There's no such thing as a shaman of werewolves" That had me mad, no such thing, it rang in my ears making me even more angry than the first time hearing it "you DARE call ME a liar?" I shouted, the air becoming more tense and cold, like a storm would be coming. "Take me to your alpha NOW." I demanded. I could tell he was talking to his pack, hopefully the alpha. After what seemed like an hour of me angrily waiting he finally said "okay, follow us, but we will be on guard." Like I care, I could cast a spell on all these assholes if I wanted to, how DARE the alpha not tell his pack it was me, I've known these packs and many more since my training started at thirteen, this was ridiculous, my angry thoughts just kept fuming. We finally got to the what used to be a stone-built castle...but it looked...so modern now...electricity, the front gate opened with a wireless code, the front entrance that used to be paved with cobblestone, now had asphalt, the old kitchen that used to smell of cherry-wood burning for the dinners was no longer on, I knew the alpha planned updates, but I didn't expect them to be so drastic. The warriors left and I was stuck with the first asshole that I met. We went into the front doors, which were different than I remember, and I looked over to the man he called "alpha"...that wasn't the alpha I remember either.
