When Sierra had a new life thrust upon her in the form of a supremely beautiful man, who happened to be the Alpha of the Centuri pack, she didn't expect to have all her dreams come true.

Sierra has always opposed the way her pack has run things. Running away from it all seemed like a good plan. The moon goddess had other plans for her however, and now she must face and overcome the overarching patriarchal notions forced upon her pack for centuries.

Courage and passion collide as Sierra has to face demons, and make decisions that will alter her life, and her packs, forever. Nothing worth having is ever easy and Sierra learns this as she discovers the sinister plot the elders have been cooking up to control the Alpha and his pack.

Chapter one
Sierra had already decided she wasn't interested in a mate. Despite the expectations of her parents and family she had made up her mind that she wasn't going to be married off. It was the twenty-first century, arranged marriages were completely outdated. Unless you happened to be in a werewolf pack that is. Specifically the Centuri pack, which was particularly traditional, stuck in the old patriarchal ways of their ancestors. Many packs continued to follow older traditions in some way or another, but the Centuri pack was by far the most adherent to the old ways. It was ludicrous to think that Sierra had been brought up in a society with humans, and gone to school with humans, where times had most definitely changed and women actually had more choice over their future, yet she was still expected to partake in these ridiculous traditions. She was 18 in 3 days and was expected to attend the pack gathering for the seasonal pairing off of the young women who had come of age. The Centuri pack was one of the largest packs in the area and was considered to be one of the strongest. The elders of the pack still held a lot of authority over the Alpha and often dictated to him what decisions should be made. The elders consisted of five old men, whose knowledge and wisdom was to be respected and their instructions upheld. Our Alpha, Ansel, was a strong leader (as far as I'd heard) but was regularly oppressed and forced into submission by the omnipotent elders. My parents had often told my brother and I that our Alpha had some great ideas for the pack and it's future, but he was unable to enact them due to the ever present coercion and manipulation of the elders. As far as I was concerned, there needed to be some major changes in how things were done in our pack. But who was I? A silly girl of nearly eighteen, who had no choice in her future. I certainly couldn't do anything about our packs lack of modernisation. I had other plans anyway. I was not going to let my fate be decided for me. Little did my family know, I was planning to run away. Run and keep running, or 'go rogue' as it was called in the packs. I had no idea that destiny had other plans for me, and I was helpless to stop it. The day of my 18th birthday came along all too fast. "Happy Birthday!" my brother Jeremy and my parents sang as I came down for breakfast that morning. They had put a few balloons above the breakfast table, which was laden with all my favourite breakfast foods. Croissants, poached eggs, bacon, hollandaise sauce, jam and cream scones, pan aù chocolat, danishes, fresh fruit salads, the works. The had really outdone themselves. "Aw thanks guys!" I said as I started to fill my plate with bits of everything. Food really was the way to my heart. My family knew me so well. "You're so welcome Sierra" my mother affectionately stated, though was looking slightly ashen in the face. I knew she was worried about the upcoming season party. "We're so proud of the woman you've become" said my dad. I was halfway through a mouthful of pancakes and spluttered, "fthankf guyfs" and gave them a big toothy food filled grin. Jeremy snorted into his orange juice. "Yo sis, you know you have to impress a guy before he'll marry you right?" It was my turn to snort. My mother flinched, and my father rolled his eyes. I stuffed my face and then went to go sit in the sun room after breakfast. My mother was rattling on about my outfit and other things for the party that night. I wasn't in the least but interested and didn't pay much attention to what she was saying. I was more fixed on my escape that I was going to make. If I was going to be forced to marry some complete stranger tonight, I would be leaving that night. I watched my mother as she babbled on and folded some washing. She had been a good mother. She had taught me to stand my ground, and never give up for what I believed in. My brother and I had a pretty sheltered upbringing. We lived on the outskirts of the pack territory so only really partook in pack events that were mandatory. We even went to a human school outside the pack territory. I guess my parents wanted us to have some idea of what the rest of the world was like. My father had trained me himself, alongside my brother. He had trained me well. I was fast and strong, and my inner wolf was a masterful hunter. Caelestis was my favourite thing about myself. She was thoughtful, strong and stunningly beautiful. When I shifted, and my wolf took over, I was resplendent. Pure white fur with bright green eyes, encircled by dark black markings, that looked like eyeliner. We were magnificent. We were larger than usual for a she-wolf, and I think my wolf knew more about herself than she was telling me. My father had told me that not many wolves were white, and not to shift in public until after I was chosen by a male. Apparently rarity made it more likely for fights to break out in packs. It sounded animalistic and rather childish to me. I had kept my wolf hidden, as my father had instructed, with only Jeremy and him bearing the witness to her magnificence. My mother dressed and readied me that afternoon, plastering my face in makeup and pampering every inch of my body. I was waxed and buffed and smoothed all over. When my mother was finally done, she turned me to look in the full length mirror in my bedroom. I was shocked with the result. I had never thought of myself as ugly, but the woman I saw in front of me was, undoubtedly, stunning. My long blonde hair had been pulled back into a sleek high ponytail. My makeup accentuated my bright green eyes, and replicated the look of my wolf's eyes, with elegant dark eyeliner emboldening my fierce gaze. My one shoulder, soft green dress hugged my waist and hips in all the right places. It emphasised my long legs, which were perfectly bronzed. I looked like an elegant woodland creature. A woman grown. My mothers eyes brimmed with tears. "You'll have your pick of the crop, my beautiful daughter" she whispered and squeezed my shoulders gently. I turned to face my mother and look into her sorrowful eyes. "Thank you, mum. For everything" and I pulled her into a hug. She returned the gesture and let out a couple of sobs. "Better get going" I said, and my mother pulled away from me, and walked out of the room to find a tissue to dab her eyes with. It was a short drive to the Centuri packs' headquarters. The atmosphere in the car had changed from the calm, warm, loving and easy-going vibe at home, to tense and prickly. My mother appeared to be barely breathing, she was so tense. My father intermittently reached over and squeezed her hand, as if to remind her to breathe, and she would imperceptibly relax. My brother was taut, jaw clenched and frowning blankly out the window, not seeing the blur of the forest whizzing by. My brother wasn't a bad looking guy either. He hadn't found a mate yet, in the few years since he turned 18, and the pressure was mounting or he'd be forced into an arranged marriage by one of the un-mated outcast's parents. I knew he was worried. "Jer, relax" I whispered. He looked over at me and grinned, his face relaxing into the easy and carefree demeanor I was used to. "No worries, sis" I grabbed his hand and squeezed it. He squeezed back. Jer had been my biggest confidant growing up. He had seen how the human world was and agreed we were behind the times. I knew he didn't want to subject any girl to having to be forced to marry him. And it was this that made him so nervous. The elders were already putting pressure on my parents to marry him to one of the 'unwanteds' - the girls who hadn't found a mate after several season events - and this caused a strain in his relationship with them. I didn't want that for him either. I wanted to tell him that I was going to run for it, but I couldn't risk it. What if he told my parents or any of the other members of the pack? If I didn't get out tonight, I never would. I'd be trapped in a loveless, passionless marriage. I'd become devoid of any purpose and life. Merely a vessel for a man to fill with pups and continue the cycle of oppression and abuse. I couldn't risk it. All too quickly, we pulled up to the Alphas' house, and I was gobsmacked. The house was a large, sleek, very modern sea of glass and bifold doors. Not what I had expected in the least. I had assumed they would have had the traditional large colonial style house most packs had. Perhaps this alpha was making some changes. Not that it mattered to me anyway. I was going to be far away before the night was out. My wolf could run vast distances without tiring. A valet took our car and we were ushered into the house by a few omegas, the pack servants, and taken through to a covered outdoor area near the rear of the house, where the rest of the guests were. A few heads turned as we entered the area and I lowered my gaze to avoid any unwanted attention. There were a few hundred people in the tastefully decorated outdoor pavilion. The girls with their mothers were all dressed to impress and I noticed a few of the pack males sleazily gazing around at the packs' 'talent'. A few licked their lips as their eyes greedily passed over my body. I'd never felt so naked and on display - despite wearing clothes. The pavilion had a large sail cover, with industrial looking lanterns hanging from all sides, trailing above us in zig-zags. They cast a soft light over the guests and created a warm ambience for the party. There was a bar at the far end, erected by a fountain which intermittently spat jets of water into the air. Tables were dispersed at irregular intervals throughout the party. The place gave off a casual speakeasy vibe with a modern twist. It was spectacularly understated and oozed a cool and chic style. Not what I expected from our pack, who clung to their traditions incessantly. All of a sudden, I noticed a most delectable smell. A mix of musk and wood, warm spice and a heady note I couldn't identify. It was heavenly. It carried with it a feeling of soft masculinity and pure power. It made me giddy with delight, interrupting my concentration. I wondered what it was, when I stumbled into the back of someone, and identified the source of the intoxicating scent.
