Chapter 1: Loser Town
September 7th, 2014 ________________________________________________________________________  - Harvey Duke- You know in the movies high school is all fun and parties and getting drunk, how it's all shits and giggles and the only bad thing that could happen is a bad hangover? whoever instilled that image in kids’ minds needs to be shot, in the d**k, or boobs if it’s a woman. I barley flinched as I was slammed into the lockers by a bunch of jocks. "Fag" they laughed. I collected my things from the tile floor and pressed them to my chest. I pushed up my glasses and quickly dashed into the music room. I sighed and plopped my things down in the back corner. "Hey Harvey" a certain red head said smiling as he walked up to me. "Hello Alfred" I said a formally as I could even adding in a slight bow of the head. "Jeez kid" he chuckled and placed his overwhelmingly large hand on my head and pushed me down a bit playfully ruffling my hair, "all I want to do is chat, don't act as if I’m royalty" "Well your name is Alfred King" I mumbled. He let out a loud barky laugh and clutch his side then looked back at me. "Kid, you've got spunk" he smiled,"so call me Alfie" I nodded quickly. Alfred King, a senior and on the football team, he plays piano and keeps good grades. He has fiery red hair and dark brown eyes. his skin is pale and unblemished with light freckles dusting every inch of his body. "So, what do you play?" he asked very odiously chewing on the inside of his cheek. "Hm?" "Instrument wise, what do you play?" he asked again. "Oh" I said dumbly,"violin" I commented. "That's cool, how long you been playing?" he slumped into the chair I was standing next to. "8 years" I told him. "Damn" he mumbled, "that's along time" The bell rung, and he stood up, "see ya little buddy" he waved and smiled his other hand in his jean pocket. I nodded a goodbye. The class was boring every once and I while my eyes drifted to Alfie who sat with a few girls on the other side of the room. everything about him screamed player yet girls still followed him around like puppy dogs. There was only one other boy with a reputation worse that his.  someone like me saying his name out loud would be like a sin in this school. He was the king of the jocks, quarter back since he was a freshman, he somehow managed to get honor roll last year, and from what I hear he's quite the ladies’ man. The bell rang, and I quickly snatched item sand hurried out of the classroom. I sighed as the sun rays beamed down on me and the cool breeze blew my hair back. lunch is the worst time to be me, so I always find a place outside to eat. I sit down my back resting on the oak tree and I looked out at the football players and soccer players using the fields to unleash their amazing talent for sports. I could pin point Alfie as his hair didn't help him hind from the masses.  "Hey!" Alfie yelled to a boy who was easily flipping the football in his hands, "Rex!" "Go long sucker!" the other boy yelled, and Alfie began to run sideways, and the other boy threw the ball like he had been doing it his whole life. Alfie caught it and tossed it back to the other guy and jogged over to him. "Nice throw Chandler!" Alfie smiled laughing and high fived the taller man. "you know it King!" the taller ones aid to Alife. ok so I can't say his name but I’m sure I can think it. Terrence Jeremy Chandler, better known as Rex. He's also a senior and his black wavy locks that he always threw back in the wind were kind of his signature, well, that and his piercing blue eyes. I sunk into the bark and sighed heavily. I will never be anything more than a nerd who lets people step on him. I will never be cheered on by a crowd of people who either want me or want to be me.  I will never amount to anything more than a speck of dust. I can confidently say that I will always be a nobody. Anybody who says they're fine being how they are is full of bullshit. Everyone want's to be what they're not. except Terrence Jeremy Chandler. He knows he’s the s**t but even though he's so popular, it's for the wrong reasons, yea he can play football like a pro and he's the schools playboy: but he's also the schools bad-boy. No one dares to take a step towards him unless he allows it. They say that he killed his father. They say that when he gets bored he skins cats. They say that if you try to talk to him you'll die in three days. They say he's never dated, that any one-night stand or s*x buddy that gets a bit to close suspiciously disappeared. Still.  Terrence is feared. His only real friend is Alfie, the red head seems not to care about Terrence's reputation and they walk down the hallway together. He laughs and smiles with Terrence while other are afraid to speak. "Yo" Alfie’s voice started me and I jumped, my butt coming down on a root and I groaned I pain. "Sorry man" Alfie smiled a bit and held out a hand, "c'mon the bell just rung, you're going to be late" "I can get up on my own" I said blankly and pushed my glasses up.  I grabbed my things and rushed off ignoring his calls for me to slow down.  ~*~*~* I stayed to the edge of the field, so I didn't get in the way of the boys practicing, I watched my feet move shakily, I didn't want to go home, but at the same time I did. lost in thought, I didn't hear the screaming, the yelling that came from the boys, the cheering for Rex.Something collided with my body and I was flung to the ground. My body was pinned to the ground and I groaned and searched for my glasses among the grass,my hand dipping in mud every once and a while.  I could see shoulders on top of me, they were blurry as all hell, but they were there. "Sorry" The person said and pushed himself off me, standing up and his voice sent shivers up my spine. The field was wet, and I could feel mud seep through my jeans. The guy bent down and searched with me. "You don't have to do that, you'll get wet" I mumbled keeping my voice small. "A little water never hurt anyone"he said and handed me my glasses and when I put them on his face came into view, "besides, people are always saying I’m dripping with good looks" he smirked.  "Told you you were going to run into someone!" Alfie's voice reached my ears. "Shut it Al!" Terrence stood up and yelled back to the red head who was many many meters away. "You ok...um..." he didn't know my name, well no one does. "Harvey" I completed his sentence. "Hey, you're the kid who got a perfect score on his SAT" he said dumbfounded. "Yea" I said dully and stood up only to sway and fall into the mud again. I was dizzy, painfully dizzy. "Hey" he kneeled again and put his hand under my arms and helped me stand, "you ok?" "Yea" I pushed away from him and swayed again, he caught me before I fell and wrapped a large hand around my waist keeping me steady. "I'm going to take you to the nurse" he said softly, I didn't know a voice so soft could come out on a man so scary. He looked back at Alfie and yelled making my ears scream in pain,"Al I’m going to take the kid to the nurse!" "Don't skin 'im!" Alfie yelled back, and my nerves spawned butterflies in my stomach. "Shuddup you prick!" he yelled back his voice rough like it could cut someone on its own. He turned back to me, "I’m Terrence" he said surprisingly sweet, his soft voice was somewhat addicting, it was like he saved it only for special occasions. "Yea, I know" I said keeping my guard up. "you've heard of me?" he asked. "I think everyone has" I scoffed. He tensed and went ridged. oh great, I f****d up. "I'm sorr—" I started to say but was dismissed with a wave of his hand. "Whatever let's just get you to the nurse" he spat harshly and suddenly moved his hand from my waist to my shoulder as if being close to me hurt him, like he was a demon and I was holy water. "Thanks" I told him as he sat in front of me and pressed an ice pack to my forehead. "I didn't mean to trample you, I hope you know that" he said. "It’s ok, I’m kind of used to it" I drawled. "getting trampled? seems like a bad hobby" He looked down, "sorry" he rubbed the back of his head. "I should repay you or something, for taking me to the nurse" I blurted out, "could I like do your homework or something" He looked up at me shocked, "just who do you think I am!" he stood up and dropped the ice pack at my side,"I’m not some f*****g prick that pushes fags into lockers then steals their lunch money!" I cringed at how much disgust he put into the words. "I'm so sorry" I whispered. "okay Harvey, I’ll make you a deal, we have an AP CHEM test in three weeks, if I get a 100 on it then I’ll never bother you again, but if I don't then you have to keep tutoring me, got it?" I nodded, and he walked away. What wrath did I just instill upon me?
