Red String of Fate

“An invisible thread connects those who are destined to meet, regardless of time, place, or circumstance. The thread may stretch or tangle, but it will never break.”

- Chinese Proverb

"Please, don't hurt me! I'm begging you!" Sherry pleaded as she came face to face with a creature unknown to her.

She never thought that she would experience this unfortunate event in her life. All she wanted was to go home. But it seems that the werewolf has another plan for her.

Sherry is now faced to face with the creature. Her mind is fogged not only from the alcohol she drank but with fear as well. She didn't know the reason why, of all people, she has to face this monster.

The white werewolf with red eyes growled at her. She should have just let it be earlier instead of chasing after it. When she got off the cab, she saw this creature and she was mesmerized by its beauty. Little that she knows that it's not an ordinary dog.

If it were not for her curiosity, she will not end up in this situation. She thought that it was husky but she was wrong. It's some kind of a huge wolf and she had no idea what it's doing in the city. But it's now towering her height and intimidating her which is working well.

There's nothing she can do but just leave it all in fate. When the werewolf sank its teeth from her left shoulder, she knew that it would be her ending. She's still too young to die but there's nothing she can do.

The only witness to this tragedy is the full moon that shines down her face. Its bite stings so bad and wishes for death to arrive. But then, she heard a howl from the creature and left her.

Unfortunate Event
It's 3 AM but the bar seems to be a graveyard already. Usually, it's packed with a lot of people who like to entertain themselves by drinking alcohol and partying. But not today since it's Wednesday which happens to be the middle of the workweek.  Sherry decided to leave early and just head home. It's not fun to stick around without anyone she can talk to. She's a digital nomad and it's her way to meet new people when she's not working. It's good since she doesn't exactly have a fixed schedule.   It's a great opportunity for her since she has the freedom to go anywhere she wants. She's currently traveling in South Korea. It's been a month since she decided to visit this country.  She was lucky to be granted a digital nomad visa so she can move from any country she feels like going to.  She's in her late twenties but she still doesn't plan to settle down. How can she do that if she doesn't even have a guy to marry? Her freedom is more important to her than to get married and start her own family. Maybe at a later time but not for now. She still has a lot on her bucket list before she does that. The Han River looks mesmerizing and breathtaking, especially at night. She decided to stick around there for a while. It can be quite lonely to be on her own. She can see a lot of lovers around who seem to be so happy together. But whenever she thinks about having a lover, she just shakes it off. She's not ready for a relationship even if it's been more than a year since her last. Meeting other digital nomads and dating them is not a good idea. Dan is a travel blogger and he collects women while he goes around the world. She can't get over the fact that she's just one of his many girlfriends.  After breaking up, she decided to leave Thailand and check out South Korea. It's a nice place to visit since she likes the food and the culture. But she's planning to only stick around until she gets tired of the place. She promised herself to make some friends if she lasted for two months around here.  Sherry decided to get back to the Airbnb where she's staying. It will be a short walk from the Han River but she decided to take the cab. She doesn't want to risk walking in an empty street. Even if she's been around for a month in this country, she doesn't usually go out.  Honestly, she didn't know how to go home unless a taxi will take her to the street where her Airbnb is. It's funny but she just doesn't want to admit that she didn't even find time to master the area. She can do that another day when she's not busy anymore. The taxi dropped her off the street where she currently lives. She always just gets off there and has to walk for two more minutes. If she will allow the taxi to take her exactly where she's staying, she might miss it. So to avoid getting embarrassed, she just gets off from the area she knows that's near her place. She watched the taxi drive off and she started to walk. The place looks empty since most of the residents are sleeping by now. She regrets going out tonight. There's no one she can talk to since there are no digital nomads around. They usually come and go after a week or two. But she's not yet ready to move on and leave Korea. Sherry took a right turn and she was able to breathe when she saw her place. It's a residential building and she's lucky to get the rooftop part. Contrary to what others believe, it's the best spot for her. She can see the entire Seoul when she's up there. Not to mention it's way cheaper compared to the other rooms. She was about to open the gate when she felt as if someone was staring at her. Nervous, she slowly turned her head to the right side. It's a husky or maybe something like that. But she knows that it's just a big dog. It's unusual to see them roaming around the streets around here. Maybe the owner didn't notice that it had escaped their property. She's scared of dogs but this one looks too beautiful to be scary. It looks lost and maybe if she can go near it, she can see its tag. That way, she can call the owner to return it.  She carefully walks towards it so she will not scare it. But this dog looks like it's not scared of anything. It just stood there looking at her as she got closer. The white fur of the dog looks like snow. But as she came closer, she noticed its red eyes and got intimidated by them.  It's her first time to see a red-eyed dog or maybe it's not a dog. She looked around its neck but there's nothing in it. If it's a husky, it should have a dog tag with the owner's information in it. But maybe she's wrong because as she came closer, it looked more like a wolf! Sherry tried not to panic and started backing out. If it's a wolf, she will not stand a chance with it. She can't even imagine a dog chasing her. Thankfully, it's just standing there and not moving. But then she remembered what they said about wild animals. It can smell fear which she has a lot right now. The wolf runs towards her without a warning. It snatched her bag as it came through to her side. Now she can panic because her keys and phone are in her bag. She needs to take it back so she decided to follow the wolf. Without thinking, she takes off her high heels and runs towards the wolf.  "Hey, that's my bag!" She shouted. The wolf stopped and waited for her before it ran again. It looks like it's teasing her so she will follow. She doesn't have a choice but to run for it. Nobody will allow her to enter the gate without her keys. She needs to get her bag back so she can get inside her place. After running around for thirty minutes, she finally saw the wolf with her bag between its teeth. Just then, she realized that she's already in an unfamiliar place. There were houses around but they looked empty. She started to get nervous about it and the wolf charged at her that caused her to fall to the ground. The wolf cornered her to the tall dead-end wall. She was chasing it but now, it looks like it's the one chasing her. Without bothering to get up, she tried her best to back away as the wolf walked towards her. It then stands up using its hind legs which makes it look bigger like a six-footer hairy man. There's nothing she can do but just leave it all in fate. Before she can even react, it's already in attack mode. So when the werewolf sank its teeth from her left shoulder, she knew that it would be her ending. She's still too young to die but there's nothing she can do.  Sherry saw her blood dripping from her shoulder as the creature let go of her. She felt weak and her body limps down to the ground. Then the pain started to torment her and she didn't know how to take it. She never felt this much pain in her life.  Maybe it's rabid and she got infected instantly and now dying without a flight. The only witness of this tragedy is the full moon that shines down her face. Its bite stings so bad and wishes for death to arrive. Then, she heard a howl from the creature and finally, left her alone.
