The Moon Goddess's Gift

Night Pack Alpha Cole paced back and forth in his office waiting, he could feel all the emotions his mate Luna Kara was feeling, scared, excited and pain.  He was waiting for the pack midwife to allow him to be with him mate.  Cole and Kara had been mates for 10 years now and for all of those years they dedicated themselves to their pack.  Everyone in the pack had watched them struggle to produce an heir and when it seemed all hope was lost Kara became pregnant.  It was a gift as the Doctors didn’t believe they would produce a pup.  Today was finally the day they would bring their pup into the world.   Cole lost his connection with Kara fearing the worst Cole raced to their bedroom and was met by the midwife outside the door.  “Is she okay?”  Cole asked.  “Yes Alpha she has fallen asleep, she needs to gain her strength the pup will be here soon”.  Cole nodded and entered their bedroom to find Kara peacefully sleeping.  “I gave her something to relax but she will be awake soon and ready to deliver,” the midwife explained.  Cole laid down beside his mate caressing her bump.   Kara woke with a gasp a little while later and grabbed Cole's hand.  “My love the Moon Goddess visited me in a dream just now, she told me this pup was a gift from her and that she was special and needed us to protect her and raise her in kindness” Kara said.  Before Cole could respond Kara began to growl.  The midwife approached “It is time my Luna” With Cole by her side Kara delivered a beautiful baby girl with brown hair and piercing blue eyes.  As the Alpha and Luna snuggled their newborn daughter the pack Beta Thomas came in.  “Congratulations” he said as he placed his hand on the baby girls forehead.  “I will protect this little lady with my life” and with that Thomas kissed her forehead.  “What is her name?” Thomas asked.  “Leah” they both replied laughing and sharing a kiss. Thomas and Cole had grown up together and were best friends.  Thomas was left as an orphan in the pack so he never knew his parents but Coles parents raised Thomas and he quickly became a strong Warrior.  So naturally when Cole became Alpha he appointed Thomas as his Beta.   With the Moon Goddess words in mind Cole and Kara raised Leah as part of the pack.  They told no one of the dream but watched their daughter grow.  Thomas took on the role of her Uncle and they never told Leah about Thomas’s history, as far as Leah knew Thomas was her father's brother.  Thomas and Leah had a great bond as she grew up.   When Leah turned 15 Thomas suggested that he and Leah might be mates as Thomas had never found his mate.  Cole and Kara were taken back by this but Cole believed when Leah turned 16 all would be revealed.   Tragedy stuck only three weeks after Leah turned 15 and rogues attacked the pack.  Alpha and Luna were killed in the attack leaving Leah’s alone with Thomas.  Because Leah was a girl she couldn’t take over the pack as Alpha it was against the Moon Goddesses rules, so Thomas would take temporary control until Leah turned 16 and found her mate who would become Alpha and run the pack together.
