Chapter 1
Elizabeth        I wake up to the familiar sound of yelling. My lovely parents argue about every second they're around each other, which trust me isn't even all that often. My dad, an alcoholic is out at the bar while my mom is almost never in sight either at work or clubbing.        Sighing I get up and get ready for the school. The first day in a new town and I already am going to hell. It doesn't take me long to get ready because I don't really have the biggest selection of outfits and I've mostly given up and aimed to look merely presentable.       I still her their voices clashing, so I grab a granola bar from my dresser and  leave through my bedroom window to slip away to school. I've been doing that for years.       Now let me tell you that my parents most likely wouldn't give a damn if I showed up to school or not. But as lame as it sounds, I want to go. It's a way to get away from home and also I want to get into college to give myself a better life. I've known for a long time that I want to get away from my parents as soon as I could.        I make my way up the driveway to the school and instead of feeling jitters, I feel dread. Not about the actual school, but all the assholes inside. I'm not a people person, but one can hope you find a friend you're compatible with.        Inhaling deeply I walk through the heavy doors into the hallway. I'm there early to get my schedule, so there's only a couple students by their lockers. I was tempted to ask one of them for directions, but my stubbornness told me to find my way by myself.        20 minutes later and I found the office. I enter and am greeted by a middle aged woman with greying hair and brown eyes hidden behind thick, wired glasses.        "Hello dear, what can I do for you?"       "I'm here for my schedule."       "You are...?       "Elizabeth Scott."       She turns to a filing cabinet and runs her hands through the folders until she turns back to me with a sheet of paper.        "Here it is." She smiles at me while extending her arm to meet my hand       "Thank you." I take it from her and scan the chart 1 period: H Calculus - Mr. Peters 2 period: French - Mrs. Champeau 3 period: Journalism - Mr. Miller 4 period: Photography - Miss Cole 5 period: Psychology - Dr. Grant 6 period: AP Biology - Mrs. Zahn 7 period: Free 8 period: Free       "Since you're a senior, you can leave during your free periods." I nodded my head. That would be good. She goes on to explain how the classes work. By the time she's don talking, the warning bell has gone off. I quickly slip out to the hallway to find my first class.       The hallways are stuffed with people and for the first time I'm not happy with being tall. I'm being squished alive by these kids.       I somehow manage to find my way to my math class. Naturally, I'm the last one there so I take the only seat available.        When I sit down I look over to my right to quickly study the girl sitting there. She has chestnut colored hair and almond shaped hazel eyes. I look away so she doesn't think I'm being creepy. But as I turn away, she looks towards me.        "Hi." She seems nice enough so I decide to give her a chance.       "Hey."       "I'm Natalia."       "Elizabeth."       "You new?"       "Yeah, just moved in last week."       "Wow. Well if you want a friend, I'm available." I can't help but smile.       "I'll take you up on that offer." And with that, the bell rang and class began.       Nothing exciting really happened the next 4 hours. Natalia and I talked some more and I'm glad I decided to give her a chance. I can tell she's going to be a good friend.        My last class of the day is psychology. I think I have the school mapped out now because I wasn't the last person in the room. I sat down at a lab table and proceeded to take what I needed out of my bag.        I felt someone come up next to me and sit. I looked up to see who it was and I froze for a second.  Holy. s**t.       I scanned the person in front of me and let me tell you, he is quite the picture. Black hair tousled on his head and blue eyes were framed by thick eyebrows. And he is huge. I'm no shorty; to be exact I'm 5'10", so he must be at least 6'3", 6'4" at least.       "Hey." He said. God even his voice is sexy. Low baritone that was compatible to velvet.       Mustering as much confidence as I could, look into his eyes and say, "Hey."       "You must be the new girl, Elizabeth, right?" He smiles and I get a flash of perfectly straight and perfectly white teeth.        "That's right."        " I'm Tristan." He extends out his hand for me to shake. I grip it firmly, trying to show I'm not intimidated.        "Nice to meet you, Tristan." Class began but I could felling him staring the whole time.       After class I made my way to my locker when I suddenly heard footsteps coming towards me. I turn around to see Tristan coming in my direction.        "Hey Elizabeth, you wanna come over mine?"       I made a face. Is he out of his mind? We just met. We barely knew each other. And by his face I could tell that he wasn't planning on anything innocent.        "Sorry, can't I already have plans."       "Can't you reschedule."       I raise my eyebrow. What is with this guy? "No. And what makes you think that I would drop everything to hang out with a stranger?" He seems taken aback by my answer. But I was being honest.        "I don't know." He looks at the ground. "I just thought we could have some fun." Oh that did it for me. He really thinks he can just pick up some girl to have a good time? I snapped.       "Well you know what, I'm not just some slut you can hook up with. Just because you're used to girls going home with you without question doesn't mean every one will. I have more self esteem than that. Goodbye." And with that, I left without looking back. ___________________________ Tristan       When I walk into school that day I'm greeted by Ryan, my best friend since elementary. "Yo dude what's up?" He smacks me on the head a few times.  "Nothing much man, just the usual." I get him back with a couple slaps to the neck.  "I heard there's a new girl." His eyes hold such excitement I have to laugh.  "How do you already know there's a new girl? Class hasn't started yet." "I was in the office to drop off football money and I saw some girl and she said she's new." "Do you know her name?"  "Yeah, I think it was Elizabeth." "Is she hot?" "You'll have to see for yourself." He smirks and runs off as the bell rings. I groan impatiently. I want to know what I'm in for.  During my second class, Tyler Logan walks over to me. "Have you seen the new girl?" He asks with a coy smile. "Not yet." "You're in for a treat when you do." I was about to ask him more but the he just walks away.  By my last class I'm dying to know what this chick looks like. All my buddies seem to approve. I walk into psychology and I freeze in the doorway and my eyes immediately go to the most gorgeous girl I've laid eyes on. She has dirty blonde hair that comes down to the middle of her back in loose waves. Her big emerald green eyes contrast her lightly tanned skin. She has perfect pink lips that beg to be kissed and a few small freckles sprinkled along her nose. On her face there isn't an ounce of makeup, however I'm convinced she doesn't need it. And even though she's only wearing denim shirts and a tee shirt, it doesn't hid the fact she has an amazing body underneath. And to top it all off, I can tell she's tall. Like, 5'10" 5'11" tall. And I'm into that. I make my way over to the seat beside her. I stand there and I am greeted with the faint scent of vanilla. She looks up at me and scans me up and down and I finally find words. "Hey." Hey? I internally cringe. Why must I sound like an i***t?        "Hey." Her voice light but has some edge to it.        "You must be the new girl, Elizabeth, right?"       "That's right."  I hold out my hand for a shake, "I'm Tristan." She sharks my hand with a firm grip.  "Nice to meet you Tristan." She turns her attention towards the teacher. I can't help but study her. I've made up my mind that I've gotta get her into bed. I mean, no other girl has said no to me.  The bell rings and Elizabeth quickly leaves the room. I follow her to her locker. "Hey Elizabeth, you wanna come over mine?" The classic Tristan line that never fails me.        She makes a face at me. "Sorry I can't I already have plans." I'm shocked by her words.        "Can't your reschedule?" I flash her a smile that I know makes girl's knees go weak. Tried and trusted.       She raises her eyebrow at me. "No. And what makes you think that I would drop everything to hang out with a stranger?" He words are sharp.        "I don't know." God why does my voice sound so small? "I just thought we could have some fun."       Damn, if looks could kill, I would be 6 feet under right now. "Well you know I'm not just some slut you can hook up with. Just because you're used to girls going home with you without question doesn't mean every one will. I have more self esteem than that. Goodbye." She turns on her heel and leaves without looking back. I'm in shock. She's right. I've never been turned down before. It stings even more because it's coming from the new girl. Let me rephrase, the hot new girl. Most girl would be over the moon right now, giggling and flirting, but I now realize that Elizabeth Scott isn't like most girls.         I head off to the locker room to change for practice. While I was putting on my pants Ryan jumped on me. Laughing on the ground we stood up. "So did you get a look at the new girl?"        "Yes I did. And you're right, she's hot as hell."        He looks over at me expectantly. "So you gonna tap that?" And here comes the part where I have to tell him. Here's the thing, I can't keep a secret from Ryan. That dude can read me so well it's scary.        "I already tried." He looks at me confused. I sigh. "I mean I've asked her and she turned me down." There was a pause and then a sudden burst of laughter echoed throughout the locker room.  I glared at Ryan. "Shut up."        He wiped his eyes, "I just thought I'd never see the day Tristan Blake gets rejected."        "You got rejected? By who?" I look over and see Tyler standing at the door.      "The new girl." He manages through his fit of laughter.        "Dude, no way."        "Is like to see one of you try it." I was getting tired of this. "She's pretty stubborn."        "Oh trust me, I was already planning on it." For some reason I felt something tighten in my chest. I couldn't be jealous. No way, I don't do that. I've only known her for a few hours it can't be that.        "Let's get on the field boys." Tyler grins from ear to ear. "Wait till the others hear about this." I rub my face. This is going to be a long practice.
