There was a loud sonic boom before the alarms blared, all emergency lights within our cramped workspace blinking to life as a voice on the innercom screamed for everyone to evacuate the building immediately. My mind still groggy, I blinked while the others scrambled for the exit doors. What the hell was going on? First I wake up in a strange place with no memory, then it falls under attack? Muttering my frustration, I ran after the others and took the stairs two at a time, The ground shook violently, knocking all of us on our asses.
"Red alert, invasion ships entering hot zones! Red alert! Evacuate the city!" I hear someone scream, panicked cries ringing all around me. Not wanting to be trampled by the pending stampede, I shoved my way through the last of the staircase and threw my weight against the door hatch. Gritting my teeth, I didn't waste time and followed the others who were running to the right, something beneath my skin itching to break free and clear out the rabble from my path.
I am confused as to where we are heading, but there is no time to think. We burst from double doors and into fresh air, free of the confinement of the factory. My eyes fly skyward, taking in the ships fighting above us. Purple cotton-like shapes seem to provide cover for them, a bright white light reflecting energy like a shield over us to keep the fighters away. I tear my gaze away to focus on evacuating, following the others down several streets before we come out into a dusty road. It twists up a steep mountainside, a sea of bodies shimmering along its route to the building at its midway point. I was in for a hell of a day.
