Kenji Yanagi is a young yet notorious Yakuza boss who almost got killed by a woman named Cherry—a beautiful but mysterious hostess who immediately confesses to it. Suspicious by her quick honesty, Kenji decides to keep Cherry in his custody so he could find out her real identity and her possible affiliation with his enemies. It should have been very easy. After all, she was no threat from the start... Or so Kenji thought.

LIES UNDER THE SEPTEMBER RAIN
It still rains this evening like it did last night. The streets that have been always filled with crowds, within the city of Tokyo, expand its noises as they pour on and on along with the sounds of the raindrops showering unrelentingly down from the fogged and unclear skies of September. The filthy putrid smell leaks over the dark alleys of this city, along with the most horrid secrets and haunting lies surrounding its every corner. Somewhere, in Shinjuku, someone suddenly faints and collapses on the floor.  A female's scream quickly follows the sight of it with its frightening loudness ringing against the walls of a VIP room inside an infamous hostess club, in the middle of the red-light district. "Ayako!" Ayako is the unfortunate person this time, who just met the cruel end. She no longer responds to the sound of her name. She just lies lifelessly on the carpeted ground with her body severely twisted in some angles and stays in that frozen horrendous way for good. Her mouth has remained agape with foams of her saliva dripping down her jaw and neck. Her eyeballs have also been rolled upwards—with now only the whites visible—as if she has been choked mercilessly and has suffered the last few seconds trying to hold on for her dear life. Yet she still dies... Helplessly.  The poor woman has died there with nobody even doing anything to save her. Someone tries to cry for help though, but no one hasn't really moved from their own places where they have been staring down towards the body from the near distance. Most of the people inside the room share the same panic-stricken face after witnessing how her death had suddenly just happened right before them.  Except HIM. KENJI YANAGI, the most ferocious and feared man inside the place, only stares towards another woman in the background, who has been standing from a mere meter away. He tries to read her as she looks quite shaken after seeing the sudden death, but she seems to conceal the very expression beneath that fake blankness painted over her face. She knows how to pretend, acting as if she has no idea what just happened. What a liar. And while everyone else has been too busy staring at the woman's dead body before their very eyes, Kenji slowly approaches the woman in front of him, in long languid strides. Just as he finally reaches her side, he speaks over the deafening silence, his voice suddenly slicing through the rigid atmosphere with his words hovering into the air. "What did you do?" His question does not indicate to whom he has been trying to direct it with, but the woman he's been staring at for some time just instinctively turns. Her eyes meet his without even blinking as if she has expected to be caught right away. And for a few seconds, they just held each other's gaze, until she quickly changes her entire demeanor and gives him a confused look instead, as if suddenly trying to act innocent. "What do you mean, Mr. Yanagi?" His jaw hardens upon hearing the woman's dumb response that he almost snaps. Is she for real? Kenji tries not to be pissed by that as he takes the last few steps closer to her until there's only a small space left between them and even rephrases his question. This time, he attempts to speak in a much more threatening manner as he glowers at her. "What did you put in the drink, Miss Cherry?" He had seen it.  Even though she had been too swift for anyone to actually notice. He had been watching her discreetly when she had put something in his glass before she had served him the wine. But then, her plan had quickly backfired when Ayako suddenly started acting like a diva and immediately stole the drink away from her grasp. And for one foolish attempt to seduce Kenji, the woman had drunk all the contents in the glass herself. So now, Ayako died because of that.  What a pity, though... She had been quite pretty too. But these kinds of tragedies aren't unusual anymore. Someone would always take the fall instead of Kenji. Someone. Anyone. Either it had been a comrade, a stranger, a woman, or a friend, they would always die in his place. Enemies have been trying to chase him out lately because of the rising competition between the high-ranking bosses for that one vacant spot in the executives' seats of the Dojima clan. It's all politics. That stupid dirty game. And Kenji knew it has been that very "SPOT" which is causing all of these faulty crimes recently. Someone is out there trying to erase him off of the list because of those rumors that have been spreading about him as one of the possible choices for that position. But the real question here is, WHO?  Who among those sons of the bitches he knows has been trying to do these things? Who put Cherry to kill him this time? And how many lives does it have to take for that bastard to finally give up? That damn son of a b***h.  That person is completely shriveling up Kenji's patience. So many lives had already been wasted and sacrificed for all this bullshit. He has to find that motherfucker. And the moment he finds out his real identity, Kenji will make sure he'll be the one pulling the trigger on that bastard's head himself. "I think it's already obvious, isn't it?" The haughty reply coming from Cherry as she speaks in a cold tone really does it work when Kenji's eyes go incredibly sharper and intense towards her. He penetrates her with his demeaning stare, sneering down at her face. So, she's not scared of him, it seems. It's very rare, and not that Kenji's complaining about it. He must admit, it's even quite attractive. Her confidence and that sexy voice just make it altogether more tempting and seductively stimulating for him. He would have even considered taking her on with that challenge if not for the fact that she just tried to kill him. Does she even realize what she's trying to stir up here? "And why would you even do that, Miss Cherry?" "Why don't you guess, Mr. Yanagi?" She bites back, daring him with that intense stare. And Kenji's composure slightly breaks upon meeting her glaring eyes. It's the first time he actually got intimated by a woman. And as his ego begins to take over his mind, he finds himself leaning his head towards hers, a little closer than needed. Then he suddenly pulls one of her slender arms, startling her, as she tenses against his chest. Even with just the way that he stares with his cold-blooded eyes—as it scans every feature—has been more than enough to make her feel extremely intimidated. "Don't test me, woman." His words were spoken so softly as he tries not to force out the answer from her. He never really gets physical and violent with women or children. It's just not his thing. And he might be labeled an asshole, a devil with no mercy, and a killer like the others, but he isn't one to hurt a woman or a child.  'Never lay a bloody finger on the ladies and the minors.' That has been always his rule. And probably, it has become his weakness too. Even his enemies have already used that against him, but he still does not want to change it for deeply personal reasons. "Thus, the point." Cherry responds with these words so calmly as she tilts her head a little to meet Kenji's eyes. Someone had just died with their body lying from a distance, and Cherry had even confessed to it—even though it's still not directly admitted. But it has been obviously hinted at with the way she just answered Kenji's questions. Though judging with how Kenji had also seen Cherry's action beforehand and still hadn't done anything to stop the inevitable death, they're clearly accomplices in that particular perspective. Cherry, who had tried to kill Yanagi but ends up murdering the woman who then died because of a mistake; and Kenji, who saw the act of killing before it had been executed but still didn't even do anything to stop Ayako's death. They are just both guilty in their own respective roles for that tragic end. "You saw how I put the poison in your glass, right?" The second she verbalizes her main participation in the murder, six other men inside the room quickly pull out their own guns from their pockets and point all their barrels towards Cherry. To say something like that so provocatively in front of a Yakuza boss is just so strongly considered as an unforgivable act. And this is something that shouldn't be even taken too lightly—especially with the boss' men surrounding him from mere few steps away. "Relax, boys," Kenji slowly raises his hand, aware of the violent reactions being gathered now around him and Cherry. He still looks at her with calculating eyes. This woman surely has some guts to be this bold, even with knowing that she might be shot dead on that very spot after saying that. She's even acting so self-assured with that placid expression of hers.  How blasphemous... but also amusing.  Kenji could only keep his impression underneath a masked face as he feels a little bit impressed yet also annoyed towards Cherry. And as the tension oozes into the thick air inside the room, Kenji finally decides to take control of the scene. He motions his hand to his men while making sure not to break his eye contact with Cherry, and quickly orders them to lower their guns.  "It's okay," He tells them with a derisive smile, "It's a harmless joke, that's all. No need for anyone to pull the trigger. We don't really want any of the beautiful ladies inside this room to make a noise and feel threatened, do we? I sure don't want another one ending up like Miss Ayako." And as he says that, the remainder of the once cheerful young woman who has now already turned pale, still lies on the floor from a distance. "Are you going to kill me now?" Cherry asks this back in a mocking voice and looks at him as if she is waiting for something to happen. Kenji only gives her a smug smirk and smoothly plays on a lock of her hair with his fingers. He finds it strangely attractive how this woman could even deliver such a crucial question like it weighs nothing at all. But the heat has finally started to rise between them as he moves again and leans down to her face. "Now... Why would you even ask that question, Miss Cherry?" Kenji tries to read her eyes but there's nothing there except emptiness and a strange emotion that he still can't pinpoint what is. And the longer they just hold each other's gaze, the harder it gets for them to back away like two magnetic sides just pushing and pulling on each other. It took a few moments before Cherry finally moves and breaks their stare when she suddenly takes a step closer towards him. She slowly raises her heels so she could catch up to his tall height and gently leans her cheek against Kenji's cheek before she faintly whispers to his ear. "Because I want to kill you." Kenji has felt her hot breath crawling down from the skin below his earlobe down to his neck and it instantly sends goosebumps to his shoulders. The moment she utters those words towards him, Kenji suddenly tenses underneath her warmth. "All of you," his eyes immediately change as soon as he steps back and looks at Cherry in a very vicious manner. He looks away for a second as he addresses the rest of the people standing around them.  "Get out." Without another word, the men and the women aside from the two of them, just silently follow the order like it is the plague. It is an unspoken rule, after all. Once Kenji finally shows that kind of face, it only means DOOM... In all SENSE of the word. _____________________________ ONE MONTH AGO "Are you sure about this... Miss Chiba? Will, you really do it?" "Yes."  The woman doesn't even hesitate to answer. The unnamed man, who is sitting on the expensive couch across her, just blows off a big puff of smoke from the Tabacco in his hand and looks with obvious uncertainty towards Aoi Chiba. The woman has been really brave to be able to reach him like this.  He still does not know enough information about her whole background, but her intense hatred towards the person he also hates the most really got him interested in her. This is the very first time someone boldly came to him for this, but it still is not good enough for him to immediately trust her for such reason. There is only a few who could really make him feel convinced and this girl isn't nearly assuring at all. She still needs to prove her intent. And by that, he means, to really kill KENJI YANAGI... with her own hands. Aoi Chiba already knows that the man in front of her does not completely trust her... And perhaps, he will never really trust her at all. But she has been so determined and persistent to ask for his help. She wants to kill Kenji Yanagi as soon as possible, and there is really no other way to get close to that Yanagi than going here and ask for this other man's help. But when she has answered with pure intent, he still doesn't even look a little bit impressed—even with that murderous look drawn on Aoi's face. He still could not help but think of why she just suddenly wants to kill Yanagi... It's so suspicious. Is she one of his past lovers then? Someone who holds a grudge against him because Kenji had broken her heart before? Or maybe she's just one of those crazy whores whom he had left in an instant after getting tired of her. The man doesn't really have any idea of who Aoi Chiba was. Where did she even come from? Why would he trust her now? She just barged her way in here and blatantly asked for a way to help her out: To kill the person named Kenji Yanagi and to teach her how she could do it. But would he really leave the chance of killing that bastard to this woman? Women's feelings are quite futile and impulsive, not that the man knows all about it, but it is usually true. And Aoi Chiba might just hesitate at the very last second. Yet, with a lot of conflicts going around the Tokyo area—where the Dojima clan has been trying to take over—the man could not really risk ever getting caught in a bloody battle with Yanagi. This is quite hard to admit but, he knew he can't really match the number of Yanagi's men at this point. "But what if you couldn't?" He asks the woman again. Aoi Chiba already expects this question. Everyone would have asked the same thing to her. No one would really believe she could do it. But she has gotten this far because she had already chosen this path. And all the things that have been sacrificed to get here would become completely meaningless if she fails. There is no reason for her to back away anymore. She already made up her mind:SHE WILL KILL KENJI YANAGI. "I WILL kill him," she confidently says this but pauses as she bites her lip, not even wanting to think about the other possibility. "But IF, by a small chance, I ended up failing... Then I have no other choice," Aoi's expression turns even menacingly darker than seconds ago as she continues her words with a hollowed look in her eyes that even the man, himself, across her suddenly feels a little threatened.  "I WILL KILL MYSELF INSTEAD." -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
