Prologue
Joseph Hutcherson. You've probably heard of that name. If you have, you know he's a very dangerous man. His father along with his uncles were criminals. Nothing major, just dealt with matters like fraud, corruption and buying of politicians. Nothing major. His mother, Vivien was the daughter of a powerful Russian mafia. Beautiful, dangerous and had an explicit taste for younger men. She was 10 years the senior of Lincoln Hutcherson. With her money and his conniving brains they were a force to be reckoned with. The pair were behind the murdering of her father, Viktor and they soon after took over the Russian mafia. Their reign however, did not last as long as they would’ve hoped for it to because after a few short months, Vivien was murdered by the hands of their many enemies and Lincoln was sent to some asylum in Siberia. Nonetheless, they had made their mark. Their names were taken in the streets, sometimes in a mock for being the foolish couple who thought they could take over the Russian mafia. But nobody knew about the child that been kept a secret from the world of crime. The child that was ultimately used as a trap to ensure Viktor’s demise. It was in the moment that Viktor had already chosen to step down and name Joseph as his next successor. Only 18 years later did the mafia find out about said child and Joseph was soon taken into training and preparation for his vital role in the world of the mafia. At 23, he met a young woman by the name of Jacqueline McLeod. He got crowned, per say, when he turned 25 and within that same year tied the knot with Jacqueline as his Queen. Joseph would never have thought himself being in a courtroom in the position of the accused, but that is the exact position he landed himself 8 years later. Accused of mass g******e and other petty crimes of his that had been uncovered. "We now seek permission to call upon Mrs Hutcherson to the stand," The lawyer announced. Instead of arising from the defendant's side where her husband was, Jacqueline rose from the prosecutor's section with her head held high as she made her way to the stand. Jacqueline had the exact qualities that were to be possessed by a mafia Queen. Beautiful, smart, cunning and nothing short of vicious. Jacqueline stood proudly at 5'4 but what she lacked in height she made up for in beauty. With the perfect hazelnut complexion, smooth and shiny, she smelt of "sugar, spice and everything nice" as she had been told a handful of times. If there was one thing Jacqueline could not part with, it would be her cocoa butter lotion that had indented a position for itself in her expensive handbags. Her hair was cut short and was the lovely shade of dark chocolate with the occasional golden streaks that occurred naturally in the sunlight. Her eyes were a deep brown with specks of an almost hazel colour in them. Plump lips which were always pulled back in a loving smile when she spoke to her husband, but in a cold businesslike smirk when she addressed others. With squared shoulders and a straight posture, she could wear anything and make it look like it was straight off the runway. Joseph never once took his eyes off of her, just watched the mesmerizing sway of her hips as she made her way to the stand; against him. "Mrs Hutcherson, how-" the attorney began but was cut off by Jacqueline. "Please, call me Jacqueline." "As you wish, Jacqueline. Now to begin, how long has it been since you have been married to Mr Joseph Hutcherson?" The attorney asked, despite being in court and being accused of all this. Even the lawyer feared to say his name without at least adding the Mr as a sign of respect. Jacqueline could feel his piercing gaze on her, his cold calculating eyes, which she began to love and hate at the same time. "We've been married for 8 years now," Jacqueline replied. Her face void of any emotion as she had been taught by her husband. "During those 8 years, did Mr Joseph Hutcherson ever lay his hands on you in an abusive manner?" The attorney questioned. Visions of Joseph handling Jacqueline in the throes of ecstacy were the only thing that plagued her mind in that moment, his domination and confidence in the bedroom as he drove the both of them to the height of pleasures. Jacqueline shook her head no. "In that case, can you please inform us of the events that had transpired shortly after the suggestion of a divorce? What was Mr. Hutchersons reaction? Did he take well to the suggestion or not?" The lawyer certainly knew which questions to ask. Jacqueline's entire demeanor froze but she did her best not to let it show. Her eyes caught the gaze of the light brown eyes that belong to her husband. Freezing from that look she was given, Jacqueline looked away. Joseph wasn't angry at the fact that she was against him, he was angry at the fact that she wanted a divorce. An escape. His eyes held hers as he relayed his message through his eyes and Jacqueline shivered at the anger, love, lust and mystery that swirled in them. To others it would seem as if he was glaring at her, but only she could see the storm that was brewing behind those calculating eyes. "Please relay the entire incident to the court," the attorney simply instructed Jacqueline after her prolonged silence. She cleared her throat, looked at Joseph with conviction and a slight smirk that only he noticed appeared on her face, "it was two months ago when I served him the papers. He was laying in bed and I was by my dressing table doing my usual routine. I put on my lingerie and began to do my make up..." Her tone lowered, voice lulled, taking over the minds of the men in the room as she told them of her outfit of that night. She watched as Joseph's jaw clenched in realization at what she was doing. He always hated it when other men desired her, if they weren't here right now he would’ve had them shot and tortured, not instantly killing them, but making sure they died a slow death then he'd take her in his bloody arms and punish her for being so defiant. He knew she would like that punishment, just like she always does. "After I'd put it on, I took the folder out of the drawer and walked to him, put it in his hands, and told him those were divorce papers and that I wanted them signed. After that I walked as fast as I could to the door so I could leave but he was faster. He'd caught me before I reached the door and pulled me back..." her fists clenched in memory. "What did he do after that?" The attorney pressed. Jacqueline paused watching Joseph's eyes, he knew her game and she knew he could play too. In fact he was always in charge but she'd had her fair share of wins as well. Joseph watched her, knowing that what was to come after this she had made up. Jacqueline's throat tightened as her eyes turned glossy, "he...he...he grabbed me and threw me to the wall..." "What else?" The attorney pressed. She cried, "he then grabbed my hair and started to pull me upstairs, I bruised all over my hands and my knees as he continued to drag me up the stairs where he...he proceeded to beat me mercilessly..." As she cried and the attorney handed her tissue, "what did he say to you after, Jacqueline?" She looked down, dabbing the fake tears she was able to bring out, trying hard to fight her smile, "he said to me...'if you ever think of leaving me again, I'm going to f*****g rip your legs out so you won't be able to get away from me'." "This is the violent nature of Mr Joseph Hutcherson," the attorney pointed out to the judge as he took in the broken image of the once strong Mrs Hutcherson. Joseph leaned back in his chair, watching his sweetheart, such a beautiful liar she was. That's not how she obtained those marks, matter of fact there's a reason why she only hurt her hands and her knees. Her palms were what was hurt and that wasn't from being dragged. That was from being f****d from the behind on the pavement. He clenched his fists as he looked up at her with a cold smirk painted on his face. She had served him the papers alright, and yes she was right he did pull her back but she had managed to fight back and run out. Luckily their house was huge and on a mountain so before she could even get within 100 feet of the gate he had caught up to her. Turning her around and saying to her in a dead calm voice, "What are these? These are divorce papers. What did I tell you? What did I tell you when we met? You're never leaving do you understand me." They had fought a little more but it just ended in them f*****g on the pavement right then and there. Like all their arguments ended. He knew what she was trying to do here, he knew she wanted the divorce but he'd never give it. He loves her too much to let her go. "Was your daughter there, Jacqueline?" Joseph was almost 10 seconds away from pulling out the gun he'd managed to hide and shooting this damn lawyer who kept calling his wife by her name. He didn't give a f**k if the president told him to call her by her name, no man besides him, her brothers and grandfather called her by her name. Jacqueline shook her head, "no, fortunately she was not." "No more questions, your honour," the lawyer said as he sat down. Joseph's lawyer rose, "Mrs Hutcherson-" "Jacqueline." "Mrs Hutcherson," his lawyer continued as though she had not said a word. He was a part of the mafia and he'd never address her anything less than Mrs Hutcherson or boss lady, "have you ever witnessed Mr Hutcherson kill someone?" She watched Joseph, even though she wanted this divorce she knew she couldn't snitch. She knew that if she ran her mouth, she wouldn't get hurt but everybody here would. "No, I did not." "Has he ever told you that he killed someone?" He had plenty of times before done that. He sat on their bed as he watched her do her make up or get dressed and he'd talk about killing people as if he were telling her about a normal day at the office. However for him, it was, in his world...that had become hers, sadly. It was something that she had gotten used to. "No, he has not." "Has Mr Hutcherson hurt you in any way before the day you handed him the papers?" "No, he had not." "Your Honour, we see that Mrs Hutcherson was the closest to Mr Hutcherson and therefore she'd know the most about him than anybody else, he would surely confide in her. The day he allegedly hit her was triggered simply by the fear of his wife leaving him. Nothing but emotions of shock and fear of losing the mother of his child." The judge sighed, as she got up and told them to take a 15 minute recess before they would get called in to hear her verdict. 15 minutes later everybody stood in silence as they awaited the impending verdict. Jacqueline was in and out of sense, if he got proven guilty and got arrested then she'd get the divorce. Her ears weren't picking up whatever crap the lady said she just wanted to hear the words guilty. "...not guilty because of insufficient evidence..." ~~~
